thanks for sharing at least people who see this video will see that it works sometimes and does not others depending on the type wood of grain of wood . I really appreicate your great video..
I have the regular smart splitter. This is so much worse. I can put a cord around the log and not have to pick the logo each time. And the biggest problem would be getting it wedged on both sides and trying to use a secondary splitter to help. Thanks for the help
This thing looks like it needs a higher slide pole with a heavier weight possibly to be more effective. In its current design it is maybe something good for a child to safely help you make some smaller kindling splits
The only practical use I see for that would be for splitting kindling, other then that I would rather grab an axe or a hatchet for that matter and get it done with one simple swing through that short easy to split wood rather then tossing that light weight thing down 10 times.
I have only been watching these type of videos for a hour or so,but try placing the wedges closer to the edge of the log for your next video. Thanks posting.
Some logs like rubbery Elm are extremely difficult to split especially if there are a lot of knots. Pine and Sycamore are fairly easy however. Incidentally at log stove exhibitions they often cheat by firing their stoves with Kiln Dried Oak. Unfortunately old wet pallets and Elm just don't burn the same. The old pipe stoves such as the "Broomside Arctic" are extremely good for burning poor fuels but IMHO wood is never a free fuel. It does however heat its owner twice, once when he chops it and again when he burns it!
Nice demonstration! Would it be beneficial to increase the weight of the drop hammer? I believe I heard your wife pull in for a landing in her helicopter just after 4 minutes into the video.
That set-up looks like a pain-in-the-a$$. Get a Splitting Axe and do it in one swing. And that wood is so small you should be able to split it with a Hatchet !!!
That is the definition of over engineering. You could hurt yourself just as much using that as with an axe. Thanks for your time dude, however that thing is useless.
A great example of technological progress, in reverse!
Amazing what some people can design! My compliments to you!

Just use it as a stand alone splitter and use a 5 lb lump hammer on top of the piece of wood
I just want the base plate. I don't want to spend money on the other thing. Would be happy to put the wood on the baseplate and hit it with a hammer.

That good spitting with that little splitter it cuts nice I'm a new subscribe
do you have to cut your wood that short before it will work.

Try a Fiskars X27 splitting axe with the logs contained in an old car tyre. Very easy and very quick.

How much did you spend on all that kit?
this is good thing for those who cant swing an axe very easy, like elderly but still lets them get some exorcise

ill give that a try and let you know

I think you should turn the bottom splitter 90° to see if it will quarter the logs.... If it actually splits, that is...
Good idea! Many can't swing an Axe when old. What about a heavier drop weight?
I was going to suggest that too.
I'm getting old and I just have an axe head with a handle attached pointing the opposite side of the sharp end and let gravity do the donkey work

Without going to a tractor or 3 fase powered splitter the only thing that seems to work well is a good splitting maul.
It would be easier to carry them to the top of a high building and drop them off and if you are lucky, one or two might split open.
Good for a splitting headache...

What's wrong with an axe?
chopped wood for years
would have a pile chopped by the time you faffed about with that piece of rubbish
but thanks for review anyway
didnt know they had any hardwoods left over there in the old world.

nice work boots!!

Meglehet próbálni csomós fenyővel is.. Több vele a macera mint a hasogatással..
Interesting, but I guess if your logs are 10" long, that works okay, but who cuts 10" long logs?
Get a good 8lb maul.
it works not like you tought
Too much fafing around. Just use a wood splitting axe. Better for your back also
Buy your the ax! time is precious....
just get fiskars x27!

Not a very effective method.. Old school maul is the way to go
Cigar Outlaw I'll stay with my mail, wedge and even the Fiskar splitting axe.
too much arseing about, nice p.p.e with the jesus sandles
What a waste of time..

He goes and grabs another piece of splitting 'stunt' wood. I have gone after Elm with my maul that wouldn't give. Hate these splitting videos.

your shoes are goof boots
would a had thawn log split in a quarter of the time with a good spliting axe, too much feckn about with liftn and fartn about
Похоже на анонизм
im faster with an axe, after 6-pack
What a joke
looks like junk
talk about terrible ergonomics, Im faster with a splitting maul.
