All of this footage was shot by our guide Jacob in February of 2021. Despite the unusually cold, wet and windy conditions, the birds still proved to be active and present!

These birds have a cool name Chacalaca 😎 Lots of Mexican birds show up in south Texas.
That one is fun to say! Yes south Texas is special with those Mexican species just barely creeping into range.
As the Valley human population explodes, it is likely you will only see these birds at feeders. Their habitat is consumed by development. Soon you will have to travel into Mexico to see these birds. Very little environmental consciousness in the development of the once "Rio Grande Valley."
