Austin D Judging things you know nothing about makes you seem really ignorant. The dresses and the art were never meant to be similar, it is their plastic elements and qualities that the artist was concerned with as references when he designed those pieces. I recommend you deeply research Cristóbal Balenciaga’s work and general design theory. You might learn something and you’ll then certainly understand why certain garments were paired with certain paintings. Regards.
I saw this exhibit on my summer trip to spain. The show was incredibly weak. Some of the correlations were based solely on color. (A pink bikini being influenced by a pink evening gown worn by a Spanish princessa.) There was so little convincing correlations between Balenciaga vs the artworks. 👎
I noticed that just from this short video. I mean, nothing is more lazy than being literal in influence but from this, I just had the impression that the influences were a stretch and made up. I say all of this, as a massive C. Balenciaga fan.
This was really fascinating. What a marriage of history.

Regal yet wearable pieces.
Also they have a modern design
I really see no similarities outside of color choices.. its probably some kind of ploy to invent something that isn't there..
