No one seems to have commented on this: Sydnie herself said in an interview that this was Loren Allred’s version of the song (that Loren herself did on BGT a few years back) and she initially didn’t want to do it as she was such a huge Loren fan. The BGT people had suggested the version and song to her as she only had 3 days to prepare for the finals after winning the semi.
Loren actually gave Sydnie her blessing to use her version so she did, adding her own “Christmas decorations” as you put it. Later, Loren also congratulated Sydnie on the win on Instagram, saying it was now “our” version.
It was actually based on the arrangement by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. He should have acknowledgement too
Loren did her version on AGT not BGT but you are right, Sydnies version is based on that although she had 3 days to prepare it and still managed to sydnify it. Both versions are incredible
I'm in the USA and watch America's Got Talent. I glance at BGT clips. In all the many years I've watched Talent and singing competition shows, Sydney Christmas has got to be the BEST vocal performers I have EVER heard!

1:16 she is amazing, her songs have been playing in my head for days, once in a lifetime voice, so emotionally sung which is what makes her so special and the way she sucks you in, mesmerizing!
Her voice is amazing. If I were FORCED to pick just one, this is my favorite song of all time. Up until this round, I have been amazed by her. I personally didn't think this song and her voice went together very well. I just thought there was WAY too much power for this song. I LOVED Tomorrow and My way. I will definitely follow how she adapts to her success. Her voice is phenomenal. One of the two or three best voices EVER on AGT or BGT.
I just found out that Loren Allred will be performing with Andrea Bocelli (again) in London in early July. Would be great if she gets together with Sydnie while she’s there.
Said same thing.... best voice, personality, ive ever heard. I paused the video before it was over, couldn't contain myself, and told my husband when she comes to the US, we're going to see her in concert. I kept repeating to him that he has to hear her. I think i was annoying him but i couldnt get over how amazing she is.... EPIC! let's have it!

The lighting! As she strung out long, high and beautiful, "cant", the light beams slowly moved to a vertical position to show her perfection in control.
Vocally no contestant or professional touches Sydnie her tone and pure singing ability is as good as anyone's but then she can take it to the stratosphere where they cannot reach her great reaction!!

After watching Sydnie's winning performance several times it occurred to me that if you go back to her audition performance and after the golden buzzer has been hit and all the confetti is falling, the song that is playing over the top is Over the Rainbow and it's the same rendition that Sydnie sings in the finals, but she does such on outstanding job with it.
You said it Larry - she won the whole shebang!!!......She leaves my eyes wet every time I hear her. That is unheard of. Casting directors - wake up and listen up! Better must be on the way. Go girl!!

I love your reaction to hearing this! The way she delivers a song is perfection. Would love to know more of her backstory--e.g., 1. why hasn't she been discovered before this? 2. Who is her vocal coach? 3. Who are the idiots (sorry, but they are) who turned her down? If she doesn't become a major star after this, there's something seriously wrong with the entertainment industry. She needs someone like David Foster to encourage and guide her.

The winner for sure and I agree with Larry that this is by far the finest contestant vocally I have ever seen on a singing competition! And I'm not sure I'll see another like this. This is Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand level talent. This young lady is in very fine company!
Despite some criticism, this young lady is a force. She won, and let a TALENT win!! She is gifted with fantastic vocal strings, and has the passionate feeling of an artist! Let her fly high!! Some people try to drag down Susan Boyle but she proved to be a worldwide talent. Sydney can go up to the sky! Congratulations!

Sydnie had me at hello!!! I'm so glad she won it all. She has an endearing personality and a phenomenal voice. On the downside, with all the thousands of songs to choose from, I wish she had chosen something different than the exact Loren Allred rendition that played when she won the Golden Buzzer.
Each song that she chose had meaningful lyrics reflecting her own journey. That allows for passion, which really brings the songs alive and so very beautiful.
She made this song her own, again: she is an English artist in song.
May be a 'regular' title, but these videos are more BGT editing than her own ideas, I'm sure. Simon himself stated the 'obvious', that she makes her songs personal, too: he was a little short on words, but he did say it all.
She only had 3 days to prepare for the final after winning the semi. It was the BGT vocal coach who suggested the Loren Allred version of this song. Initially she refused as she is a huge fan of Allred, but Loren sent her a video message giving her blessing and wishing her luck. Loren’s voice is exquisite but I’ve listened to both renditions, and it’s Sydnie’s that brings tears to my eyes.

Oh my gosh! I suggested that song on the comments to your last reaction video (My Way). I said I was getting Judy Garland vibes and thought she should sing "Over the Rainbow". But I was afraid it didn't have enough 'gymnastics' for her voice, but I was wrong! She killed it!

Sydnie's audition was so adorable. She has such a killer stage presence, Quirky, but very professional when the music starts. Her renditions of each song were so different and My Way I think sealed it for her. I knew she would win the entire competition. Good call Chris. Refreshing to see new talent that is her voice and not dubbed or autotune enhanced.

Larry I love your channel. The only time you let me down is when you fall in love with the pause button. A song like this most of your comments can wait till the end or halfway through at least. I appreciate those comments too. Sometimes lack of comments says more than anything. At least during the song.

You are the first reviewer I've seen that picked up on when she sang the word "true". My hearing is down to the point that I use hearing aids, however when I heard that note it was so pure my whole body reacted and I felt it resonate within me. I've not had that reaction to any other performer for a very long time.

Miss Sydnie Christmas said some time ago that her aim was "I'm trying to be in the West End!"
But now, in my opinion, the West End and even Broadway are too small for Sydnie.
She has the talent and ability to not share the stage with other artists.
She must want to perform on prestigious stages all over the world!
At the very least, she may share these stages with artists at her height! Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, Liza Minelli, Julie Andrews, Loren Allred and a few more.
And, if for some reason, they cannot be physically present, may they be present through Sydnie Voice!!!!

I usually dont like to give this song as a recommendation since it is 15 minutes long, bug you should try the Turkish song Susamam. It is done by 15-20 different singers and rappers, and all singers talk about a different issue about the world and the country. It has english subtitles as well
