Played at this tempo the piece sounds more "Chopinesque" rather than Stride. I liked it. Compare Doucet own performance and Hamelin in Sweden. Thanks for this.
I love this version. Its' got a great swing & feel for the piece.
Listen to Hamelin in the same piece...
Aside from Hamelin's snappier, more technically secure playing, Tharaud is playing the Doucet's original, which is less flashy than Hamelin's rearrangement.
Yeah, Tharaud is better. Much more texturally and rhythmically interesting.
Hamelin rearranged and removed several inconsistencies, he used a much better piano and of course his technique is better. But this here I like too. Great piece!❤
bom ele mais lindo pessoalmente gente hoje eu vi ele no OSESP e amei o trabalho dele
é perfeito
Doucet était un excellent pianiste et compositeur intelligent. Je suis d'accord que la technique est une partie du son que le pianiste offre, mais aussi l'interprétation.
I like the visuals inside the piano. (in addition to liking the playing)
Великолепно ! Браво !
Très drôle!
oh !!!!!
he have very beatifule hands..........
Hey, fellow -- you're amazing! I had just run across the Col. 1657-D which is missing a chunk of about 1/2" at the beginning. Heard the intro. for the first time! Did my undergrad at Oberlin & MM with J. Bolet. Thanks for posting. Will check to see if you've recorded the flip-side -- "Wagnereske". All the best! This, of course, isn't my real name -- who the hell does that on the internet!? For all I know, you may be Lang-Lang -- but I seriously hope not!
Yeol Eum Son's version on YT (th-cam.com/video/mdWq7OU2j-E/w-d-xo.html) is more lively, and provides a link to the score.
🌅🎼🏅
Aprobado!!
I wonder how Chopin would have listened…..if at all.
if Chopin did not write the original version then he probably would have loved it haha
la comparaison est cruelle ……………
Question de technique...
hamelin sure is faster in this piece, but tharaud is soooo much more spirited
Pretty bad played. He either hadn't time to prepare it enough or he simply can't play it better.
Merci beaucoup!
