Be careful holding a fishing line in your hands while trolling, if a big fish or even worse a shark takes the line you could easily lose a finger. I did that one time and a shark hit and it cut my finger almost to the bone! Still have my finger thankfully. Central Fl native. Good luck on your travels.
You can pull parts off derelict boats just make sure you do it after dark. Was that a tides marine track? I've heard of the cars ripping out like that after UV degradation.
