I grew up in Redondo Beach and West Hollywood as a kid in the 90s. South Bay Galleria and The Beverly Center were my malls. Please do one on The Beverly Center and Beverly Connection. Good memories :)

I first saw this mall in the early 2000s; it was real busy back then. Back before the likes of Amazon and other online shopping sites started to eat into the businesses of many brick and mortar shopping stores. Going to the movies back then was something to look forward to.

Growing up in Redondo Beach, I did go and watch the outdoors mall being torn down The mall has had crime problems too.
Its going to be interesting to see if this mall ever makes a come back.
    Thanks Eric

I went to this mall once in about 1991. I remember there being a very large Robinson’s down the street at Del Amo so I never understood why you would want two stores so close to each other.
The last time I was in Redondo Beach about 5 years ago, I was told NOT to go to this mall because of crime. I think this mall has become obsolete and just wonder why it hasn’t been torn down yet.

As a local who grew up in Torrance, I used to frequent this mall quite often. Loved going to the theater here with my friends on the weekends! It's been a few years since I've been there, as Del Amo is closer to me and seems to have the better shopping options. It's a bit sad to hear that it's really died in the last few years, but it'll be interesting to see if the renovation helps it and it can get back on it's feet.

When the Hawthorne Mall closed, the troubled youths who used to frequent that mall started visiting the South Bay Galleria. It was only a matter of time before the South Bay Galleria would tend toward the same fate as the Hawthorne Mall. In order to salvage something of the property, they are planning on building some housing and offices. The locals have fought against more housing because they believe the traffic is already too high in the area, but I believe the development plan is finally going ahead.

I lived between the Old Towne and Galleria in the early 90s. I used to go to the bowling alley and movies alot. Do you remember the Levitz furniture store towards the back of the complex? There was still heavy traffic when I was last there. Good times

I feel old saying this but I do remember before the Galleria was built. I was a little boy at the time but I remember the shops that were there and the bowling alley. It was like a strip mall. But when they built the Galleria it was a site to behold the neon the gold trim on the outside it was a beautiful mall. It felt like it was something out of Miami Vice.

Thanks for using my suggestion! I forgot about it! I remember this mall, everything was dead, I remember the food court and the middle of the mall was the only popular place in the galleria. Plus there’s Del Amo down the street, which has better and more stores. You should also make a video on the Shops at Lake Avenue in Pasadena. It’s kind of dead, and it’s kind of old

In the early 2000s from 2002-2005 were peak mall years for millennials and after that around 2009-2013 malls started dying. We went to the mall every Saturday to meet girls, get hats from lids, see a movie and order a Mc Donald's double cheeseburger and put fries on it.

      What amazing footage!
A friend of a friend's family used to run the "Animation Station" shop on the 3rd floor... this must have been the early 90s? What a cool store it was.
It is such a bright and airy space, hope it can come back. Nordie's moving to Del Amo was the nail in the coffin tho..
