I have a 2013 (2012) 5 speed almost at 100k miles in the US. Ford should have kept on producing this, even if it was assembled in Mexico. Most manufacturers make bigger sales off of maintenance anyway, and this car has a bit of that. It was a win all around. Wish I could drive the diesel version.
What a great car, especially with that trim and equip. I have a 2009 Fiesta with the 1.25 82hp engine which is a little bit underpowered in the lower rpm's and only has a radio and AC.

Very good review. Greetings from germany. I drive myself an 2009 titanium model with the 1.4L 96hp petrol engine and im very happy with it. The only bad thing is the transmission, especially the reverse gear. I think the Mk5 has the same issue, but the latest models had a better transmission.
Greetings from the UK and thank you for your comment!! Great to read that you like your 2009 Ford Fiesta, even though you are experiencing those transmission gremlins that you have mentioned. We really liked ours but after the car started to develop a rattling type noise when the car was moving off and one garage mentioning the potential of replacing the gearbox we changed it for a 2014 Kio Rio in the end. We would love to try the later Ford Fiestas to see what they are like but that may be further down the line. I hope you get your car sorted. Cheers, Tony - WTA
Common with all fords which use IB5 gearbox. No synchromesh on reverse. You have to fully stop, press clutch and hold for about 3-4 second then try to put reverse. Annoying when you have to do quick U-turn with not enough space -.- .
That was the best car I ever owned! I got 80mpg and the engine was sound. Plenty of torque too! the only problems I had were broken springs, rust underneath and the fan in settings 1,2 and 3 just like you. I moved to the USA and they don't do cars as efficient over here :(
Nice video, found completely by accident :-) I had a 2010 Fiesta Titanium 1.4 TDCi. Had it for 7 years (4 years longer than originaly intended) and it never put a foot wrong. The level of standard kit was excellent, and I used the cruise control all the time. The speech recognition system is fine provided you speak slowly, but yeah I'm with you in that I never really used it. The only negative point for me was the 1.4TDCi engine - yes, it is pretty economical (around 65mpg year round average), but boy was it slow. I replaced my Fiesta with a Toyota Prius which is near enough 5 second quicker to 60 (which kinda says it all haha). The 1.6 diesel, like in your Econetic, is definitely the better option if you must go diesel, but the Fiesta mk7 shines best with a petrol engine. The petrol engines are lighter so there is less compromise on the ride and handling - my mum still has a 2009 1.25 Zetec (which has also never put a foot wrong and is still going incident free beyond general servicing and maintenance) and I always felt its ride and handling were just that bit better.
Sorry about the delay in replying and thank you for taking the time to comment. The Fiesta featured in the video was a great car and we had it 3 years and it never let us down. It was cheap to run, had great acceleration and cost nothing to tax. With the 1.6tdci it had a great kick to it and it was ideal on the motorway. The only thing I found was that it was quite noisy when at speed, which was the same to be said of the older Fiesta we had. Not sure if it was the car itself or just the way Fiestas are at speed but it wasn't the quietest of cruisers, but saying that it is a smallish car. The only reason we changed it for a newer car was down to a rattle that it had developed near the end of our ownership. We took it to four garages and they couldn't diagnose it properly so we decided to move it on to pastures new and get a 2014 Kia Rio, which will feature on our channel very soon. Great to read that your mum has the petrol version of the MK7 and I hope it gives her trouble-free motoring for years to come. Cheers, Tony - WTA 👍
@@RB-jx1pd mine was. Both the car and the 1.4 diesel engine gave me absolutely no trouble in the time I had it. Its quite slow thats all, but it cruises on the motorway effortlessly. Got it brand new only 9 miles at Ford dealer . The only problem I start now notice is the engine idling getting shaky more often. Need to check that out but overall good car and very good on gas.
The Fiesta was a great car to own and you are very fortunate to have one from new so you benefit from knowing it’s maintenance history, which helps it be more reliable in my opinion. We would have kept our one but it developed a fault that four independent garages couldn’t resolve and after spending a fair bit of money on it we felt it was time to try something a bit newer. Hope you get your issue sorted and I wish you many more happy miles in it. Cheers, Tony - WTA
Hello, just brought a 2010 fiesta at auction and it does make a knocking sound when doing slow maneuvers etc, it's probably the steering rack as you mentioned. How did you go about resolving this?
Hi there! We ended up replacing the steering column which seemed to resolve the knocking sounds that we were getting with the Fiesta featured on the video but it may be worth getting a friendly mechanic to have a look at it for you before you spend any further money on it. Hope it helps! Cheers, Tony - WTA.
This was by far the most comprehensive review I have seen on the Fiesta. I just have one last question, since I couldn't see your speedometer: Can I travel in the motorway at 70-80mph under 3000 RPM? I'm thinking of getting a Fiesta for my weekly journeys on the motorway (2 trips, 150 miles each) and I'm afraid the engine will be revving too much at around 70mph. Also the car I'm looking at is from 2011, the faults you highlighted will most likely be the same, right? Great video sir! Cheers
Thank you for commenting and taking the time to watch the video. Regarding your question, I think from memory the rev counter was around the 2500-2700 rpm mark when it was used on the motorway at 70mph, though it is the 1.6 TDCi Ford Fiesta that is featured in the video and not the 1.4 TDCi. I can't remember it being near the 3000 rpm at that speed as I did compare it to the Micra 1.5dci that is also featured on the channel and that does go nearer the 3000rpm mark when driven at 70mph. All I can say is take the car you are looking at on a test drive and give it a run on the highway/motorway and get it up to 70mph and see what happens. The faults highlighted in the video may not be present in the car you are looking at as it will depend on the current state of the car, how it has been maintained and if the present owner was a careful driver and took care of any issues that cropped up. The steering column notchy/knocking problem is quite a common issue from what I have read on the internet and as this chap on youtube has said also: th-cam.com/video/CP6xxJtH9S0/w-d-xo.html The reason why I mention the above is that I did test drive another Fiesta that was the same age with half the mileage and it didn't immediately display any of the issues that I had talked about in the video, so it is dependant on the car. It might be worth taking a quick look at some of the Ford Fiesta forums that are out there and seeing if there are any other problems that might be worth looking out for when looking at a vehicle, just so you are better prepared when you do take a test drive. Hope the above helps and good luck with your car hunting!! Tony - WTA

Hi there and thank you for your comment. There is an amount of road noise and some wind noise and I did find it more noisier in the cabin compared to the current Kia Rio that we have, which will be featured on the channel soon, as it is more refined than the Fiesta but I have always found Fiesta's a little bit more noisier than other cars. It will depend on what you would consider as noisy as to some you may not find it too obtrusive and to others it is perfectly acceptable. Overall it is a great car to own and has great handling characteristics for its size but ideally you would need to experience one yourself so you can determine if it is the car for you. Hope it helps. Cheers, Tony - WTA.
From memory operating the car's controls that you have mentioned seemed easy enough and there is nothing that sticks in my mind to say that any of them were heavy to use on a daily basis. As I always say it is worth trying out a car that you are looking at as each of them do vary a little especially in they way they have been maintained by their previous owners may affect the way they operate plus you get to see if it is the car for you. Thank you for commenting and Happy Birthday to you!!!! I’m looking to purchase a 2012 Ford Fiesta S 4 door with 84k miles for 6800$. Might talk the guy down to about 5.8-6k. But overall in your professional opinion is it worth the investment or look for something better and more opportune?
Thank you for commenting and asking my opinion about the Fiesta you are looking to buy. I am no expert regarding what you are asking but all I can say is that it depends on your local market and how much used cars are, especially as used car prices have gone through the roof due to chip and new car shortage. Personally 6800$ does seem a lot to me for a 9 year old car with 84,000 miles on it. Again it may be the cheapest in your current market but for that money you may get something newer with less miles on it and hopefully less owners that isn't a Fiesta. Don't get me wrong the Ford Fiesta is a great car and if it weren't for the issues we had towards the end of our ownership I believe that we would still have it today. As an example the Mk5 diesel fiesta we had before we got the one featured in the video we had for nearly 6 years and it never really missed a beat and I kind of wished I had kept it as a second car. Have you looked at any other brands? We currently have the 2014 Kia Rio and other than the initial mechanical issues that were quickly resolved under the warranty its been great so far and, in my opinion, drives a bit better than the 2010 Ford Fiesta. See how you get on and test drive as many cars as you can, as what I have learned from buying and owning cars in the past is this term does apply 'Buy in haste, repent at leisure!'. So keep looking and hopefully the ideal car and deal will present itself to you very soon. Hope it helps! Cheers, Tony - WTA

From memory, as it has been about 6 months since I had the Fiesta, at speed it could be a little noisy with road and engine noise. Never really noticed any wind noise but what may seem noisy to me can be totally different to someone else. Best thing to do would be to pop along to a dealer and see if you can get a test drive of the potential Fiesta you are looking at and see what you think as it could also be down to the particular variant of Fiesta I was driving. Hope it helps. Cheers, Tony - WTA 👍
I am really sorry to say that it has been over a year since we had changed the Ford Fiesta for a Kia Rio but I think that you pull the headlamp lever toward yourself all the way and then release the lever and they should stay on and then repeat the same action to dip the headlights again. You can also download the Ford Fiesta owners manual from the link below which should hopefully help further. www.ford.co.uk/owner/my-vehicle/download-your-manual Hope it helps! Cheers, Tony - WTA
From memory the speaker system in the Ford Fiesta was fine for what it was used for. In terms of base it really depends on what you are after, I don't remember it vibrating the windows when I had the music up loud but it didn't sound tinny either. I would visit a dealership or two and try out a few Fiestas and see what you think. Hope it helps. Cheers, Tony - WTA

Hi there and thank you for commenting. Before we moved the car on to pastures new (ie swapped it for a Kia Rio) we went on a family holiday, using the Fiesta reviewed in this video. Travelling in the car was two adults and two children plus a full boot of luggage. From memory it seemed to cope ok and I didn't think it was sluggish in its performance at the time. When you mention five people then I am not so sure as it could be five adults of varying sizes and weights plus luggage, I think any car may struggle unless you get something with a larger engine so it is hard for me to say. All I could say is try and get a test drive with a 1.6tdci econetic powered Fiesta and see what you think when you drive it. It does have some ommph but I cannot say how it will perform with the criteria you have mentioned, sorry. Tony - WTA.

I'm turning 18 tomorrow and i will get the old Fiesta MK7 of my uncle. I sat in it today and i got a question: At 9:01 how do you change that? Sorry if i missed something, but i could not find the button to change the info in the display and i forgot to ask my uncle. Maybe you can help me
Thank you for commenting and Happy Birthday to you!!!! From memory, as we have now changed the Fiesta for a newer Kia Rio, I think that there is a button at the tip of the indicator stalk which allowed you to change the information screen within the instrument cluster. I hope that helps.
Cheers, Tony - WTA
@@wetryanythingchannel Thank you, yes there is a button, but it doesn't work anymore. But hey, the car is 10 years old. Thanks anyway for the help!
You're very lucky to have that as your first car! I hope you had a great birthday🎉🎉😄😄
@@wilhelm0022 there is also a a button on the speedometer gauge cluster with does the same thing

Greetings from South Africa. Have you encountered the 1.6l petrol version of this car as well as the Mk6 facelift, also with the 1.6l petrol engine? Just curious to know.
Greetings from the U.K. and thank you for commenting. Unfortunately I haven’t come across the 1.6 petrol version of this car or the mk6 facelift but if I ever do I will gladly update you with my findings.

@@wetryanythingchannel Awesome!
What’s the refinement like, no wind or road noise ?
From memory, as it has been about 6 months since I had the Fiesta, at speed it could be a little noisy with road and engine noise. Never really noticed any wind noise but what may seem noisy to me can be totally different to someone else. Best thing to do would be to pop along to a dealer and see if you can get a test drive of the potential Fiesta you are looking at and see what you think as it could also be down to the particular variant of Fiesta I was driving. Hope it helps.

How do i switch on my high beams on constant?.

Hope it helps!

What are the speakers like? Are they bassy

How good are suspensions and attitude on twisty roads?
On twisty roads you will find the Fiesta best in class for driving and it does put a smile on your face plus I didn’t find it to jittery when going over bumps and potholes.

do you think the 1.6 econetic would be ok with 5 people and a boot full of luggage or do you think the engine would struggle a bit?

Does it have isofix?
Hi there, unfortunately I am unable to say as we don't have the Ford Fiesta that was featured in that video any more but if you post your query on the following link: www.fordownersclub.com/forums/forum/1-ford-fiesta-club/ then I am sure that someone who currently owns one can help.

This is a Fiesta mk6
Thank you for correcting me! Not sure what made me think it was the MK7 Ford Fiesta as opposed to the MK6.
