Dr. Arun Majumdar, the Jay Precourt Provostial Chair Professor, Stanford University, interviews Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State; Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business; the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution; a professor of political science, and Director of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. This session focuses on Energy policy in the context of national security and climate security. Kam Moler, Transition Dean, Vice Provost and Dean Research, Marvin Chodorow Professor and Professor of Applied Physics and of Physics at Stanford, will make introductory remarks.

How is Russia weaponizing energy when it is the US and Europe that seized its Central Bank assets and are attempting to apply the sanctions "weapon" to Russian energy? Doublespeak gobbledeegook reigns at Stanford. Bravo to one of the finest learning institutions in the most admired nation on earth!
Actually, they left untouched the central bank that handles fuel expenditures, all the way up to the point that Russia cut off Poland's fuel. The initial sanctions, prevented trade outside of the oil market, But then Russia change their oil contracts by demanding that oil be paid for and rubles. This they did in order to force open the now closed avenues for exchange. When this strategy failed to recapitalize their broken banks They simply stopped shipping oil to Poland. So yeah, mineral resources are a weapon of war and were weaponized 1st by Russia. I'm not criticizing Russia for doing this in the least. If anyone should be criticized it's Germany for thinking that that wasn't a legitimate tactic. But Condolisa Rice is not wrong in her statement that it was 1st Russia, quite inevitably, to weaponize the oil trade. But even rice wasn't criticizing Russia for it as much as pointing out the obvious predictability of it I'm kind of scratching your head out loud as to why anyone in Europe thought things would go any other way than they did.
You’d love to see the Rand Corporation paper on extending Russia. This has been planned.

Condoleezza (the US) should not interfere with Europe's energy dependence it has always been a thorn in the US eye that Europe was buying Russian energy while Europe lived and traded in peace with Russia for 70 years until the US made Ukraine a vassal state and a proxy war broke out.
