As one who has been to the other side and back, I laugh everytime someone says they have a "guardian angel".
What one finds out is that all people born on this planet, have never left it, even after temporal separation.
We are surrounded by angels continually.
Not just protecting us when directed but whispering and teaching us at all times.
When one see's the other side the phrase "oh that I were an angel" no longer holds any desire!
I dream now only to be a reunited being.
For we are not complete as angels!
But I'm forever in debt to God for directing them.

Thank you for your comment! I too know that the beings that once lived amongst us now minister to us. I have called on the Lord and asked for that blessing of ministering angels on behalf of someone in need and I have seen miraculous ministering. My experience has shown me that these angels are from our own family line.

It states that Moroni is a resurrected being is on the introduction page vii in the Book of Mormon, where it reads, "After Mormon completed his writings, he delivered the account to his son Moroni, who added a few words of his own and hid up the plates in the Hill Cumorah. On September 21, 1823, the same Moroni, then a glorified, resurrected being, appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and instructed him relative to the ancient record and its destined translation in the English language."

@@windywithachanceofsunshine5219 so funny enough our belief is also that the angel moroni did actually start as an angel. Then came down to get a body of flesh and bone with God and then after his death came to Joseph smith back as an angel now an exhalted being. God does love everyone and so seek him. The trinity is false doctrine and was created by a man governed council. Since you want to quote church history let’s do a deep dive about every other Christian faith that believes in the trinity :) you cannot substantiate the trinity. I have doctrine and doctrine from the Bible alone that completely dismisses the trinity. Including your favorite verse John 3:16 :) God wouldn’t send himself and not tell us. He sent his son. Who’s purpose, testimony etc are like unto God but he is an individual with agency just like the rest of us.

    Main categories:
    1. Premortal Spirits
    2. Mortals
    3. Postmortal Spirits
    4. Translated Beings
    5. Resurrected People
    6. Devils
Also, there seem to be subdivisions based on rank, position, or role. For example, in category 1, as per the Old Testament, there were archangels, seraphim, and cherubim.

The topic on Angels is inexhaustible as far as I'm concerned. I have only just come to understand some more things than I did from my own personal study of the topic. Being able to distinguish between premortal/postmortal, pre-resurrection/post-resurrection, pre-translation/post-translation and post-first/post-second resurrection beings is all so much to do in a few studies of the scriptures. The blessings that come from continually studying this topic though, are also boundless.

Perhaps John the Baptist was ordained by an ancient translated prophet named Elias(the preparer). It would make sense as John the Baptist mission was to prepare the way, that an ancient prophet with a similar task, or who was the holder of those types of keys would be one to ordain John the Baptist with the Aaronic priesthood. Sheesh, when I say it that way it makes me wonder if it were Aaron himself, however, sticking with my first thought of Elias and then it could be considered to be Elijah, as in Elias being another name for Elijah.

If there are mortal angels ministering on behalf of Christ, aren't there logically mortals who are working on behalf of the enemy, also? I was thinking, then, that the enemy's angelic hosts must have counter missions to Father's angeld. That information helps me, I serve Heavenly Father in an inner city ministry, I face a lot of demonic activity and attack. Both spiritual and temporal.

I'm not certain who ordained John the Baptist, but it would make sense that the angel held the Aaronic Priesthood as Christ restored the Melchizedek Priesthood. In saying that, I personally believe Moses ordained John, as John according to the Bible Dictionary, "Thus his ministry has operated in three dispensations: he was the last of the prophets under the law of Moses, he was the first of the New Testament prophets, and he brought the Aaronic Priesthood to the dispensation of the fulness of times."
I teach my children to be worthy of Ministering and Guardian Angels. In short, I to want to find myself surrounded by these Holy Beings.

In the Revelation of John, there is a mention of 7 angels of the congregations of the first church. In the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible, he corrects this to "the seven servants" (possibly bishops) of the congregations in Asia. My point is: Angel may be a holy title that simply means Servant. God's servants. Satan's servants. etc.

      Hey Brother,

6 ¶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
From this reference, I'm not sure how you drew your conclusions that the information in the video is incorrect.

@@jameswinesgreenspunjhs8954, I am not sure what point you are attempting to make, but thank you for making it! Your question led me to study Job. I believe these are spirit angels who have not come to earth yet, gathered around Job. Satan comes and is basically asking to tempt Job, because he is so perfectly obedient. I believe this is a lesson for all mankind. That God is in charge. I believe this is Jehovah & Satan speaking to one another and God will allow Satan to tempt Job with all manner of tribulation to see if he can break him. Which as you go through the book you will see that Job will remain faithful, I believe the angels remained with him to provide him with the strength he would need to withstand Satan’s temptations.
“Job is another one of the books that we put in the classification of wisdom literature, not necessarily a book of prophecy, although I [Terry Ball, BYU professor] I believe it has some historical elements to it. But, it’s real purpose is, to teach us a lesson, a lesson, to be wise to something we should apply in our lives and help us to solve some of the issues that come up from time to time.”

I go off of the introduction to the Book of Mormon to know that Moroni was a resurrected being. My feeling is that if he was going to be translated, he would have begun mentioning it like Ether did, or like was speculated for Alma or Nephi (the one right around the beginning of third Nephi). I think they knew something about why certain individuals are translated instead of just dying or being resurrected. The pattern I've noticed, and that has become part of my speculative theory, is that most individuals that were translated before Christ's Resurrection were done so during the era of the Law of Moses (including Moses, Elijah and presumably Ether, Alma and Nephi [though I don't know for sure why the latter three were translated]) and my best guess is that it was because they had priesthood authority that the world could not be governed or judged by should they be slain or cast out by those under an Aaronic order.
I don't really know why John and the 3 Nephites were translated and not just resurrected like Peter and James.
As for OT angels, the scriptures don't really clarify what kinds of angels they are, in most cases, so I just assume they are righteous, mortal beings.

Yes for sure we have angels all around us today. Some seem to be homeless, those in need. Someone we don't even know on the street. So that you may have the opportunity to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in these latter days. Even the three Nephites and others. I know there are more than these, I'm talking about. So please don't pass up the opportunity when you see someone in need it could very well be a angel from heaven, to check on mankind. We only have those reported in the scriptures. There are so much more in the scene all around us and we would never know unless it was through the whisperings of the Holy Spirit or if you could feel their presence. Throughout my life I have been able to view the evidence of spirits and angels. Of course I'm talking about Heavenly angels. I see evidence of the evil an unclean spirits walking around wherever I go also. And evil is in many people we see every week, or on the street harming others. You have Satan's missionaries everywhere, they are on the street, Even in our families.

I concur that it was Moses who ordained John the Baptist if it was a translated being. However, it's entirely possible there was a living, mortal angel that could've been sent.
Too, I also support the reminder elsewhere in this feed that there were MANY translated beings who could've been sent to Abraham and Lot. Insofar as I know, there's no reference to Noah or his sons being translated - please inform me if you do know a reference.

Genesis 9:29 specifically says that Noah died. Obviously that doesn’t mean that he was translated and taken by God, but I too am not aware of anywhere it says that. However, before Christ’s resurrection he is only known as a messenger angel and not acting in any physicality by announcing the birth role of John the Baptist to Zacharias in the temple, the angel sent to instruct Mary on her role as mother of the Savior and although it doesn’t specifically this, The Church has taught that he was also the angel sent to Joseph assuring him of Mary’s goodness and divine calling. Only after Christ’s resurrection do we have reference of Noah/Gabriel (also referred to as an Elias) acting in any sort of physical way in bringing and restoring keys to Joseph Smith which would have been done by the laying on of hands. The information we have now would seem to point that Noah died a physical death and is now a resurrected being. That’s just my take and current understanding.

@@randybrown9995 I’m open to this line of thinking, but I’d like to hear/see some scriptural references or prophetic quotes to support it. While it makes sense and answers some questions, I haven’t heard anyone present it like that.

The creation stories in Genesis, Abraham and Moses are visions. They are full of symbolic temple imagery. They are not historical. Just like Lehi's vision of the Tree of life is not historical. It's full of sacred temple imagery. They have deep layered meanings.

Wouldn't John the Baptist have the authority of the Aaronic Priesthood by virtue of being a Levite & direct descendent of Aaron ( both sides Elizabeth & Zacharias)? Does section 84 refer to a different type of ordination?

Modern scripture says, "There are no angels who minister to this earth but those who do belong or have belonged to it." (DC 130:5) In a General Conference talk Elder Bruce McConkie said, "An angel came from the courts of glory to strengthen him in his ordeal, and we suppose it was mighty Michael." (th-cam.com/video/w6X425gT4DQ/w-d-xo.html)
That's an opinion, of course. But, I imagine if I were Adam, knowing it was my choice in the Garden of Eden that brought about the Lord's suffering, I would have begged God for the privilege of comforting Him in the Garden of Gethsemane.

It would seem that there would be another type of angel also. Those who lived on earth but are bound by Satan? I guess it would be classified in those waiting for resurrection but those were portrayed as holy. So not all those who die are holy angels but some may be bound by Satan because of the lives they lived.

This video makes me wonder about 1 Nephi 3:29 whether the angel is a spirit being talking to them or if it is a guardian angel who was mortal just as a passerby to reprove Laman and Lemuel

    • @Cyle-1
      @Cyle-1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve always assumed it to be an actual non mortal angel from the context. It’s hard to see another mortal receiving that kind of revelation for another’s family relationships and then later Nephi asks them how they could deny the things of God after having seen and heard an actual angel of The Lord. I don’t know about you but it would seem near impossible to deny the spirit after having seen a non human angel vs another man. The church has always seemed to maintain it was a non hum messenger angel sent from the Lord. At least scripturally, when referring to somebody as an angel it always means that they aren’t human. I just can’t think of any examples where the scriptures refer to a human man or woman as one anyway.

Assumption No. 1: At just 2 minutes in, the assumption is made that the angel (Cherubim) that drove Adam & Eve from the Garden 'must' be a spirit, citing D&C130:5 AND reasoning that there could not be other embodied beings that "belong" to this earth. This is a BIG assumption! What of the Terrestrial or Telestial resurrected beings (or celestial beings who are not married & raising their own progeny?) who have been appointed as ministering servants to the family of spirits that belong to this earth?? Do we suppose that these 'angels' have nothing further to do with any other family of spirits, or what family of spirits might they have to do with, or 'belong' to. They belong to the Celestial family they are assigned to, aiding and ministering to the spirits raised in the family of a Celestial couple, otherwise they would belong nowhere?! Who knows what all they do, but they are resurrected beings pertaining to glory, under the direction of their higher links all the way up to the Celestial Glory and through there linked on to the kingdoms of our God. More could be said, but I wonder the quality of "inspiration" (and not just human reasoning from scriptures) in these videos based on just the first few minutes!?

The term "in heaven" can be misleading. Angels from the pre-excitant realm vs angels from the spirit world come from very different places and are under vastly different circumstances even though they may both be spirits. "Heaven" is too general a term. I think Joseph used the term "heaven" because it was easier than having to explain the details (then he goes on to explain the details! haha). He did admit that he wasn't perfect. lol. He is the guy with the keys of the restoration for this dispensation so I'll just roll with it.

So I have an interesting thing to ponder. Like a riddle....
Adam and Eve were ministered to by Peter James and John in the lone and dreary world...... after they were cast out.... we learn this in the temple. they would have had to have bodies I order to give him tokens and confer the priesthood to adam. They would not have been born for thousands of years let alone died and been resurrected. So how was this possible .
even if they were different people then the apostles of Christ they would have had to have a body at the beginning of the earth.... and you said the scriptures said Christ was the first resurrected..... so that would mean no other being in heaven would have had a body at the time of Adam and Eve.
    Interesting thoughts eh!!!
I have the answer.... just wondering if you’ve ever thought about this

What?.....baloney! ....are you guys mormans? Please only use the scripture and not other books. Angels are spiritual beings. They do not now or will they ever have bodies, and there is no evidence of them having a soul. How could we judge the Angels if they are human too? ( or were human) If you want to spout you doctrine please say your from a different religion right on the thumbnail. That goes for Catholics too. ( Catholics have their special Bibles, and so do Jehovah witnesses) Otherwise you'll confuse the Christians that never read their Bibles, they'll take this stuff for real because they don't know better.

Come on come out of the closet, because if you have authority I will believe what you say otherwise you are just another self appointed expert who is dangerous to honest Christians.
