I only know their names because I play as a center for the warriors in my 2k career, but it doesn't change the fact that I only remembered their names so I knew who to get pissed off at.
This is why I like modern NBA basketball. It's more passing and switching and versatile players. These days, big men will bring up the ball and play at the top of the key and pass: not just hang out in the post all day and wait to receive a pass so they can play ISO. (And yeah, I know this play was used throughout NBA history, but it's more popular these days. And the quicker pace, better shooting, and more versatile players make it more effective to use.)
And the bigs being more versatile allows for multiple variations of the play and open up a whole new plethora of outcomes that wouldn't happen in different eras
@@Kevinschart celtics fan hear but what i want to see is embid park his ass down in the post and go to work when ben simmons isn't in the game and when they are they both are post dominant why not have them use their size to back down and bully ball plus the offensive rebounds would go through the roof for that team
I wanna see more plays like this, I love it Also maybe some breakdowns on how teams deal with zone defenses in the league (since they are becoming more common)
I watch a lot of these types of videos and this has never been called "Pistol". Pistol according to the masses was when the wing flipped it back to the guard for a baseline drive. This is just basic Rick Adelman's Corner Offense; some may even say it's Zoom Action. Pistol was ran a ton to get backside Hammer Action.
With Duncan Robinson being in many of these clips, i wonder if it's him being a quiet force offensively, or just Spo finding ways to raise just a regular above average shooter into an offensive star.
Great to see you breaking down these sets you are always talking about in your breakdowns, Coach. Would love to see one explaining the triangle offence and all the options you can get out of it (that might need to be a multi-episode one)
I feel like even though this has been around for most of basketball history, there are two things making more and more teams run version of this. The first is that players are just getting better at shooting 3s so you have to push out on defense, this makes more space and makes defenders have trouble getting through all the screens because they are tighter to their man. The second is the rise of more skilled big men. Even if they are not a threat to shoot I feel like more and more starting Cs and PFs can dribble and at least make good decision with the ball when making a pass. The fact that you can not completely sag off a big that can't shoot because of the other things he can do with the ball just further spreads your defense.
Wow, a Mychal Mulder clip on BBall Breakdown! That's honestly incredible and I'm so happy the guy has done so well for himself. I'm a lifelong kentucky fan so I remember him being teammates with Bam Adebayo, Malik Monk, and dearon fox in that 2016-17 season. I always felt that Mulder had a lot to offer and honestly I wondered why he didnt go to a different school where he could shine more. He was a heck of a shooter (and athlete!) With legit pro shooting guard size, although just a bit skinny. Salute Mr Mulder! You've done us proud
Lakers should have signed Kyle Korver. 😞😞😞 They have inconsistent 3-point shooters that can't handle that Early Offense Double-Staggered Pindown as a Catch & Shoot Play. Problem is the location of the Catch & Shoot off a Double Pindown Screen = slot area is a bad spot for Danny Green, who likes corner shots of Pistol Hammer Set Play that the Toronto Raptors love, but Lakers refuses to run for Danny Green.
@@masterwindss2544 If the Lakers ran the set play they ran to avoid a 4th Quarter lost to the Dallas Mavericks & win in overtime = HAMMER SCREEN, they would be able help Danny Green find a rhythm. THEY DON'T USE IT ANYMORE. 😞😞😞 Illegal hammer screen by Dwight Howard vs Dallas Mavericks defender Seth Curry. 😀😀😀 It was an actual pre-planned off-the-ball screen for Danny Green to Catch & Shoot, NOT STANDING LIKE STATUE praying for a random.

K Dazee what u on about lol what does proper nomenclature have to do with the point I’m making. No shit it’s clickbait, this is me expressing disappointment.
I love watching these videos of what was. Beautiful arvhived footage of what was once, a very popular sport. I remember the last All Star game like it was just weeks ago; in my hometown of Chicago. Good memories.
If The Pelicans can run this consistently with Zion passing off to BI, they could become really good just because of how good BI can be with just a bit of space from deep, and how good of a screener Zion can be, or rolling off for the lob which will keep the defense guessing especially if there are many 3pt shooters.
I think the Pels are running more traditional post ups to Zion to not give him too much of a workload. All that offball action may cause wear & tear on his body. Zion isnt fat but hes overweight when it comes to the NBA, I think the Pels training staff are trying to find the ideal weight for his football player type frame. Keeping things simple is probably better for the developmental process for Zion. Add more sophisticated as he gains more experience
Kene idk if my boy duncan would get the call, either way that’s not his game, he’s literally a pure shooter and i don’t think I’ve ever seen him go for fouls on purpose
This play look very good because they are NBA player, they have very good shooting skill. Not all basketball player in the world can execute this play as well as NBA player do.
I wonder why do teams have so much trouble swotching on these plays? In multiple clips you can see a defender refusing to switch even though he's already beaten and he just runs after the attacking player with no hope of catching up and leaving the defender in the low post with a choice between giving up a layup or an open three.
You can find a lot of videos of Coach Nick breaking down an offensive scheme where the team is down by a lot. They're meant to analyze the action's success if ran properly. Obviously no team is going to run one specific set for 48 minutes straight. You take what the defense gives you.
