Great post, Marshall! Loved seeing Dan 'All American Racers' Gurney (RIP)! I've always wondered about 'creativity' in rule book interpretation. Your thoughts are welcomed! Enjoy the race! I recall one of the Sneva brothers racing at the local 1/4mi 'Bull Ring', Meridian Speedway, near Boise!
Just finished Bob Riley's Art of Race Car Design book. Some great stories about that car and AJ. Video shows great shot of the center hub design that made that car so unique looking.
@26:05 Something you don't see much of anymore. Used to be common place to see cars "crop dusting" like that. Engines and turbos were stressed to the max.
While it would be wonderful to have this back, it's highly unlikely. Whit the destruction of California Speedway at Fontana, and Indy Cars no longer running at Michigan, it's not going to happen. One of Tony George's big goals was to have only one 500 mile race on the schedule, so he should be happy!
Actually Tony Hulman created the Triple crown. Just race 3 races at Indy. The racing there is great. I don't think Pocono can deliver and so Michigan. Ontario was a good idea.
This sport NEEDS THIS more than ever. The Triple Crown HAS to be a thing in this sport.
IndyCar needs to bring this back!
Thanks for sharing. OMS was such a gem. Our once hometrack until California Speedway Fontana... which also is becoming a memory unfortunately.
I miss the IndyCar 500-mile Triple Crown
Indycar needs to come back to pocono. One nascar race a year there isn't enough.

Boy Scout Troop 714 from garden grove California attended the Ontario 500.

Ontario, so near the Pacific!
Look out for that damned Koogan AJ!
Chris Schenkel doing the narration.
Tom Carnegie, actually.
@@randydubin7118 Oops.
@@musicstewart9744 There was a similarity in their voices, but the closing credits are revealing.
It seems strange today to see pit crews without helmets and protective clothing--especially Foyt's crew in flannel shirts and cowboy hats.
