Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn and many other whole food plant based doctors saved my life. I lost 175lbs and healed some of my chronic illnesses. This is what real doctors look like! 🥰

I have been on a plant based diet for two years. On my left hand I was born with a wart. the past two years these warts had grown and mulitiplied. last week I looked at my hand, the warts are now gone after having these for 64 yrs. I was so surprised I couldn't stop looking at my hand. Various other malfunctions of my body have recitified themselves and my energy levels have increased. God save the plant, look after it and it will look after you........

The amount of knowledge these 2 men have is absolutely staggering. My husband and I went wfpb 11 years ago in our mid and late 50’s because of Dr T Collin Campbell. We have, over the years, read extensively about nutrition so learned of Dr Esselstyn’s approach as well. Giants in my opinion.

I wish this message reached my father. He died age 72, in 2021 after a 20 year battle with heart disease and diabetes - amputations, statins, the slow draining of his vitality. He had a long and painful death. Never did the doctors tell him that his diet was killing him. They just kept him on drugs. Damn the industrial medical complex! He would have had a much better outcome if he had a doctor like you two honest men with integrity. He would be healthy and alive instead of a hopeless cripple the last 5 years of his life and now he’s gone because he trusted the doctors. The doctors killed him!

@beepbeepnj2658 Everything we need comes from the sun and the soil. All minerals come from the soil. Vitamins are made by plants and fungi. Vitamin D is a sunshine hormone. Vitamin B12 is a bacteria found in waterways and the soil. Protein and omega-3's are only made by plants such as plant algae and flax seeds.
Eating the decaying carcasses of fellow animals, mother cow/ goat lactation breast milk turned cheese products, and period eggs of female birds is only trying to recycle essential plant and fungal nutrients.

I became a vegan at age 66. I still think the food is awful, but I keep trying, at 73, to create simple recipes that are actually tasty. Hard to do when salt drives your BP up. But maybe Jack Lalane had it right…if it tastes good, spit it out. Still fat on a basic plant diet. Most processed stuff I eat is soymilk, tofu, and tempeh. How can you overeat food you loathe? I CRAVE something and keep eating to see if I satisfy whatever my bod wants…i can understand why people ditch their vegan diets. I am at the point that I just dump the individual things I should eat in a pile and just eat the mess 3 times a day. I lapsed a couple of months ago and realized that without salt and poison like liquid smoke or BBQing, animal products are tasteless. Back on the wagon now.

As this was a recent podcast, I would like to propose a particular study that they do in conjunction with a carnivore doctor such as Ken Berry, among others. No one on either side of the aisle, should we say, has really discussed the MICROBIOME and I would like to know how CARNIVORE'S microbiome compares to a PLANT-BASED DIETS microbome , eliminating all dairy and oils, as dictated by Essie . To me this is fundamental and yet no one has proposed it let alone done it.
The carnivores will say that those candidates for heart disease and those who have heart disease on a meat-based diet have a hundred percent recovery of their arterial function with no calcification and their heart is excellent. Plant-based people say the same thing. Hence I would like an investigation of the microbiome which is essential to a persons health.
I've listened to dr. Esselstyn several times and I haven't heard him address cancer to the degree that doctor Campbell does as regards a plant-based diet. it's interesting to have the study of Philippine malnourished children receiving meat which induces liver cancer, according to Campbell, but I think it is far more complex than that. Cancer of the liver is usually involving toxins in the body that the liver tries to process and has failed, the result has being an inflamed and diseased liver. I'm not completely impressed or taken by his analysis of plant-based vs. meat and cancer. I would need to see many studies of different age groups before I could see a correlation let alone a causation between plant-based or versus meat-based and different types of cancer.
Famous studies on the massai I warriors have shown their meat and dairy based diet results in no heart problems but I believe they do die of cancer. Perhaps dr. Campbell would like to jump in on this idea and do studies on the massai vis a vis cancer and their diet.
The problem of course with diet is that the diets proposed by these doctors is so rigid and so stringent that you will find NO culture on Earth that has that diet. Case-in-point the Massai eat meat but they also eat dairy so right away that complicates the issue. Mediterranean people probably eat less meat but they eat a lot of olive oil & many other things that are forbidden by dr esselstyn.
In all events, I would like studies done on the microbiome of carnivores vs. Keto vs. Plant-based including vegetarians and vegans and also those who adhere to Essie's diet which would be eliminating also olive oil, yogurt & other amazingly healthy food.
Secondly, id like to expand and uodate Dr Campbell's studies on cancer .
    Thx

The organisms that resides in the gut microbiome of humans only feeds off of one thing: Fiber.
When we consume dead animals, mother cow/goat lactation breast milk for her baby turned cheese products, and period eggs of female birds---it causes trimethylamine oxide also known as TMAO in our gut microbiome. TMAO destroys the endothelial lining of our arteries, setting the stage for heart disease and other chronic diseases.

Read Fiber Fueled, (Plant-based gut) by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. You can also watch many of his interviews on the exam room podcast, associated with dr. Neal Barnard and the pcrm. I took his first masterclass several years ago and since have helped many people reverse their gut dysbiosis. It's all about the microbiome and those immune system superstars, short chain fatty acids!

Dr Mcdougall also says no oil no dairy. There are a lot of studies that say oils are nothing but fat. That's why we can't eat it.

Absolutely fascinating discussion with Dr. Camplbell/Esselstyn. With respect to v i r u s e s, are you aware of a landmark 2017 German Sup court case involving Prf L a n k a and if so what are your thoughts? Thank You!

I’m getting a little sick of the 5 minute introductions of Dr. Esselstyn and Dr. Campbell. I think 99.99% of the people on the webinar know who these guys are. I didn’t watch this to listen on things about them I listening to hear things from them.

I followed Esselstyn's diet faithfully and had absolutely no oil's including no nuts or seeds. Mind you I did consume flax, chia and hemp seeds for their omega 3 content. After a considerable amount of time I started to develop a severe case of "dry eye" to the point where I would have to take my fingers to open up my eye lids in the morning. Doing research on this I discovered that you can cure dry eye by having enough retinal A in your diet. Sadly, the "A" found in vegetables, only 3% is converted into retinal. It was suggested that I take cod liver oil which is very high in retinal A. I hated the fact that oil was the only cure for dry eye, but I was tired of fighting to open my eyes every morning. So I started taking cod liver oil every day and within 10 days my dry eye was gone. Heart disease or damaged cornea on the eyes? What a choice.

Gail, I too have dry eye and I do take a cod liver oil in the capsule form everyday which I'm done probably for a couple years now cuz it's not too expensive and it sounded like a good idea. BUT I still definitely have dry eye which comes and goes. Other people have told me the same thing-- that it seems to come and go so I can't quite find its cause. I'm not familiar with the term retinol vitamin A.
IF you could elaborate on that but it would be nice.
I've read the books of these doctors and I really think they're fine men but I actually do not agree completely especially when Essie (his son rips nickname) gets going on all the things you can't eat, beginning of course with the oils. I don't see any evidence or data ever presented for the negative aspects of olive oil for example or even coconut oil which recently has been applauded rather than denigrated which it had been in the past. MUCH of the world uses coconut oil or olive oil. I thought that was unfortunate as well as these guys denigrating olive oil since of course the Mediterranean people could not live without their olive trees and their goddess Athena who is the goddess of olive oil.
My problem with these doctors is they never give data. THEY never give the facts THEY never give the studies and I think we're smart enough --especially after covid and having to do all our own research and all our own healing ever bodies-- that we want that data.
I've been vegetarian but I take B12 which I did not know --until I got carpal tunnel syndrome-- that it was essential for vegetarians. I refuse to eliminate completely my organic yogurt or my olive oil which these doctors do not endorse. My understanding is that doctor Campbell included dairy until he joined up with Essie.
Essie is famous for his huge list of bad foods. Recently on Lex Friedman's podcast I heard Paul Rissoli speak and he responds as to whether he was vegetarian by saying --how could I tell these indigenous people who offered me a dinner of spider monkey-- that NO, I don't eat meat. THEY would be so offended . I thought historically about the Jewish people over the eons of time who offended the gentiles by refusing to eat non-kosher food. WHEN Essie goes on and on about the negative foods that are traditional in many cultures, I can't help but think of his historical background as a Jew with that is how they survived and it's also how they alienated a lot of people.
I know by saying this I'm an outlier and people don't think in these deep ways that I do. Whenever I hear someone speak I want to know their background and I think after covid we're learning that the background of a person is very important whether it means what corporation there with whether what cultural background they're coming from.
I had the same problem with the carnivores and keto people because they will never give data but they do say that their blood reports are excellent and I'm always amazed at that since they are diametrically opposed to these plant-based people, especially the carnivores eat no vegetables and no fruit. The only type of data I can come up with is that they are 90 years old. THE carnivore doctors tend to be in their 50's so they haven't yet proven through their longevity of life that eating only meat or-- in the case of keto-- only a keto diet is conducive to long life.
I am not convinced by these loosely described studies. I need hard facts. We need a conversation between carnivore doctors & these doctors for a fair & balanced presentation.

@@LadyBug1967 Hi LadyBug. I must say I was very impressed with your post ... you are definitely a person who puts a lot of thought into what you want to express, and you do it well. As far as I understand, there are two forms of vitamin A. There is the retinoid (retinal) and then there is the carotenoid. Retinal is the purest form of Vitamin A and the body uses it the minute you consume it. Whereas the carotenoid is a phytonutrient that once it is ingested, the body then has to convert it. It is not bioavailable. And I heard that it only converts 3% of the vitamin into the retinal. I think staying away from ALL oils, eventually your body is going to dry up ... my opinion of course. We have to consume some forms of "healthy" oil in order for the body to function properly. A poor example, but even a car engine will seize up if you don't put oil in :(. I also heard that you can't properly absorb the nutrients in a green salad unless some form of oil is consumed with it. Whether that be an avocado, sunflower seeds, hemps seeds, etc. or an oil. An organic olive oil or avocado oil that is unrefined is the best. To sum it all up, not one form of healthy eating fits everyone. We are all different and our bodies need and react to different things. Yes there are the basic that accompany good healthy eating, but what's good for one person may not be necessarily good for another. Your body has a marvellous way of telling you this itself. Pay attention to what it says and be mindful of what you are putting in your mouth.

@@LadyBug1967 These two doctors don't care what you eat. You'll have to find them in the interviews like this and decide by yourself what you want to eat. Even President Bill Clinton had to buy and read Dr. Esselstyn's book and adopt the Whole Food plant based diet so he could live on to see his grandchild from his daughter Chelsea. One person died every 33 seconds in the United States from the cardiovascular disease and Dr. Esselestyn just couldn't find some spare time for the president Clinton. If Dr. Atkins was alive today, he would be the same age to these two doctors.

Can anyone explain this? A KETO dieter makes these claims: Just had my first meal of the day. 6 eggs and 8 slices of thick cut bacon. 20 minutes later 0.5 mmol/l Ketone reading using Keto Mojo Blood test, and zero on urine test taken 30 seconds later. This is what happens once one becomes fat adapted. Excess ketones are being used now as the primary fuel source. Efficiency is realized and wasted ketone are minimized.
