Alonso comes up EVERY NIGHT WITH MEN ON and w/a middle of the lineup chance to DO and he is dreadful absolutely the worst …if I had a dime for every time he’s walking to the dugout with that stupid look on his face SHAKING HIS HEAD ….BYE BYE …can’t wait to see him go
In the last games Alonso is showing is not an elite player, he doesn't give the support we need. Without Lindor we were already out from the race to the playoffs.
I Like Alonso for the Mets, Minaya should move him to the 5th or 6th spot. Alonso’s body language speaks for itself , hes not in a comfortable Mindstate right now. I would resign him but in the $13-$18m a year range.
We could put every player in first base to replace Alonso and the result would have been the same. We need him to deliver some home runs to beat Philadelphia and Atlanta otherwise we will not be to the playoffs
Pete isn't on an upswing, that's for sure. I know he can do better than he has been this season. But will he? I have little confidence at this point, because like you, I have been waiting all season for him to find it, instead of these little teases he has been doing all season that has turned into a bunch of nothing. I love Pete and he use to be a fun player to watch, He brought energy and playfulness to the team, but now all I see is this annoying twitching he does at the plate, that IMO he doesn't need to do because he is strong enough without it, and its messing up his rhythm at the plate. He is also going up there, with no confidence and often pressing without any self correcting. Would love to know what kind of batting drills he's doing, because I'd say stop them now and do something different for Pete's sake. LOL. LGM!
ALONSO has improved greatly on defense, but he's not a clutch hitter this year and thinking about a $200, million contract is delisional on his part. Plus NIMMO, VIENTOS, ALVAREZ along with ALONSO have been hitting like four farts.

I don't think they should let him walk but they should certainly discount his contract

Look at his career stats he had similar numbers in 2021 then 2022 and 2023 had good production he’ll be back hitting 40 plus homers
Mets should take him out for a couple of games, Let him reset and hopefully can help down the stretch
Alonso is capable of 30+ hrs for a few more seasons but has quite a few flaws

Kingman would be a very rich player, if he played in this era. 30 homer runs, 100 RBIs and 200 strikeouts, would get you $20mil+ a year.
