This is one of the major reason dancehall decline badly on the international scene is because of this old cargos that will not leave dancehall alone to evolve they continued to hold down dancehall with dem analogy brains, you can imagine from 90s era still claiming dancehall king and this goes to old cargo kartel too
IF you think dancehall is declining on an international level because of artists like Beenie man you must be slow. The problem is the newer artists never picked up the button and run with it to move the music passed airport. As big as you'll think Kartel is his international success is no where near a Beenie man, Bounty killer, Sean paul and shaba. Noticed how all the artists I listed is from the 90s that's the problem. People outside of Jamaica don't want to hear anything from these new artists because they don't make good music like the 90s artists and they can't perform. That's why Beenie is looking at kartel and saying to himself you don't have my achievements, your music doesn't passed airport like mines did and you cannot perform like me even before your illness.
@ As much as I agree with many things you say, I refuse to agree that the new generation artistes never took the baton and run with it correctly and I will back that up with a proof. Now look at it this way, for a genre like dancehall that has so many international legends btw 90-early 2000s, it is the responsibility of these legends to lead the new artistes to the path of international success but for this new artistes who has legends like Beniee and kartel and so is the case for many dancehall legends who still want to be seen as the king after over 30 years of their career, these new artiste found themselves having legend and their fan base who competes with them, instead of leading them. Alkaline, Masicka, Popcaan had a very decent run amongst themselves from like 2012-2020 but in the middle of this, is Kartel, constantly struggling Inbtw them to be seen as the best even from behind bars, now he came out, still struggling to be seen as the best at almost 50, any new artiste that breaks out and don’t bow down under him, will be cancelled by his fans base and these are suppose to be the same Jamaican people that suppose to push any Jamaican artiste to the global but already against the artiste, not even one dancehall legend has a record label where he signs new artistes and lead them to global success because they genuinely don’t want anyone bigger than them, some don’t pray for any new dancehall artiste to be able break the record they set, so they can continue to brag with it.
