I think the most painful part of Chester’s passing for fans is the fact that so many of us can point to numerous times when his music saved us. During the worst parts of our lives his voice offered an expression and catharsis for our pain. But as he saved us we sadly could not save him. But we can say that he has left behind more than a few reasons to be missed. And we can help keep that sentiment alive.
Reminds me of that line from Bo Burnham's Kanye Rant where he says, "Come and watch the skinny kid with a steadily declining mental health and laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself"
When he says what am I leaving when I'm done here? So much more than we could ever tell him, and he knew just how much everyone loved him, I think his pain was just insurmountable and inescapable. I have treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder so your mention of catharsis for everyone's pain rang so true with me. We all love him and his family and friends and all the guys. He wants them to know he loves them too. So sweet in his own darkness.

The worst it's many of those "fans" left Chester down when they didn't listen his last album with LP, the moment "Heavy" came out I knew this album was really personal, but "fans" didn't care about what he was going through or the messages in the songs, they only wanted to hear screams like it was 2002. I'm not sure if this attitude took his life, but not getting support from his fans didn't help either.
@@ecardozo7043 it is strange how they didn't notice that he grew up with time, he got older so he is not the same anymore. Also their albums mature with time in my opinion which made them even better.

In my case mate I didn't leave my room for 1month. I was really shocked when I heard it from a news. Chester leaves a very big legacy, he save us from depression and pain. Until this day I can't believe Chester is gone, and the one thing I haven't done was seeing Chester in person, they have concert for relief in my country back in 2013. That time I don't have anything to go the concert just to see him and his band mates.

He's been telling us how he felt since hybrid theory. It's like every song is a cry for help. Easier to run is one of my favorite songs but I can't even bring myself to listen to it.

I was in holidays this whole last week, and as a friend told me Chester died, i knew he suicided, was my first thought, then i read about it, and it was, it was something you could easily expect.

Eric Ureta I was listening to this album(Minutes to Midnight is my personal favorite LP album) in the car today, and I was looking at the lyrics to this song when it came on, and it was like a stab in my heart. I started to just break down. Linkin Park, was one of the first bands I ever heard and Chester's voice always stayed with me after every album was finished. It's not going to be the same without him around. I wish I could have had the opportunity to see them live. But, now it won't ever come to pass. RIP

Projekt Revolution, Virginia Beach, July 26 2008. Chester stopped singing as the crowd on the grass hill erupted with lighters swaying back and forth. Chester said "where the F did all those lighters come from?" and he laughed then continued singing.
Some madman was walking around with a backpack full of lighters, handing them out and saying "you'll know when its time". Apparently this song was the time. Greatest concert I've ever seen. Chester and Chris on stage together seemed so happy...

Linkin Park saved me from depression and suicide several times. Chester put so much of his heart and soul into songs that it was “our” therapy. The guy that got me through the toughest years of my life. his music is one of reasons why I'm still here today.

Linkin Park saved me from breaking due to the mental abuse by my mother. It got less in the last months but what hurts me the most now is she won't admit she was wrong, to quote Eminem who took my anger while Linkin Park took my fear and sadness. But on it's two years of peak of mental abuse, she insulted me, she shouted at me and broke up everything positive of our relationship. When she mentally abused me so hard I didn't want to stand up anymore, I always listened to this song. It still helps when I got issues with flashbacks.

i'm 27 as well. He definitely helped our generation. The hard times, when you feel so down, Chester / Linkin Park helped us.
I am also a 27 year old female. This band is the band of my highschool years and I always get thrown back to lost memories when I hear their music. We played linkin park so much and it was my first concert with my friends and no adults. Their music is so relateable for that age group and still is at my age.
There have been very few songs in my life that have made me cry. This is one of them. Linkin Park has made songs that put feelings that I never found words to describe into lyrics of unforgetable songs. I guess Chester lived up to who he wanted to be. He may not have realised it, but he did a lot of us a lot of good. I will definitely remember these things and leave out all the rest, brother!
I listened to you as a child, you helped me grieve and deal with my fathers death. He shot himself when I was 12 and I found him first. But I look at you and the tragedy that happened and wonder, if one can reach the hearts of millions then why have the millions failed the heart of one or more? We need to understand and take seriously what others convey to us, because you never know when one light will go quietly in the night.

You probably don't know how music, or any art for that matter, helps out people going through depression.
LP helped me cope up with it because of their lyrics, and Chester's vocals bringing the music to life really helped me during my depression during my high school years.
I won my battle against depression with the help of LP(and others), but Chester lost.

For the past 48 hours I have been purposely avoiding watching or reading any news because I simply could not accept that Chester has left this world.
I still somehow remember my first time going to a live concert which was Linkin Park performance at Shanghai Stadium in summer 2009. I remember everything, the hot and humid evening air, the excitement, the girl that I went with and what she wore...And each song performed, and Chester taking his shirt off on the stage due to the heat and screaming into the brightly lit night, and Mike's always sick rap...
Chester's voice has carried me thru some of the hardest times in my late teens and early twenties. I'm so sorry, bewildered and even a bit angry that he did not in the end find solace in his own music, like how many of us did. Nevertheless, he gave me and a lot of us heartfelt reason to miss him for sure.

That was my and my girlfriend's favorite song. We dreamed about house and kids. We were together for more than 5 years from the age of 20 to 25. We just moved into our new apartment on the outskirts of the city. Then she passed away 1.5 years ago after a short illness of 2 weeks. This song will remind me of her forever.
