I think the most painful part of Chester’s passing for fans is the fact that so many of us can point to numerous times when his music saved us. During the worst parts of our lives his voice offered an expression and catharsis for our pain. But as he saved us we sadly could not save him. But we can say that he has left behind more than a few reasons to be missed. And we can help keep that sentiment alive.
Reminds me of that line from Bo Burnham's Kanye Rant where he says, "Come and watch the skinny kid with a steadily declining mental health and laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself"
When he says what am I leaving when I'm done here? So much more than we could ever tell him, and he knew just how much everyone loved him, I think his pain was just insurmountable and inescapable. I have treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder so your mention of catharsis for everyone's pain rang so true with me. We all love him and his family and friends and all the guys. He wants them to know he loves them too. So sweet in his own darkness.

The worst it's many of those "fans" left Chester down when they didn't listen his last album with LP, the moment "Heavy" came out I knew this album was really personal, but "fans" didn't care about what he was going through or the messages in the songs, they only wanted to hear screams like it was 2002. I'm not sure if this attitude took his life, but not getting support from his fans didn't help either.

Yesterday, here in Brasil, there was a LP concert featuring the new vocalist, Emily. When this song was played, she pointed at the sky while the crowd sang together, "I can't be who you are." For a moment, it was so incredibly beautiful that it left me with a sense of sadness.
When my father got cancer. When my mother got cancer. When my mother left me. When my love left me. I'm 27 and ready to face and hear these songs for more millions of time.
In my case mate I didn't leave my room for 1month. I was really shocked when I heard it from a news. Chester leaves a very big legacy, he save us from depression and pain. Until this day I can't believe Chester is gone, and the one thing I haven't done was seeing Chester in person, they have concert for relief in my country back in 2013. That time I don't have anything to go the concert just to see him and his band mates.

Over Again He's been telling us how he felt since hybrid theory. It's like every song is a cry for help. Easier to run is one of my favorite songs but I can't even bring myself to listen to it.
That it´s stupid,We paid attention, just as fans we can not do something to change artist lifes. All his fan we loved the whole band thru time, even when they changed his music style so often, we appreciated that they still keep working as a band, evolved and grow up as we did. I never heard from a real fan say, fuck you Linking Park, just random hater trolls on internet, so we couldn´t do more, we supported them, we loved them even when we didn't always love every single song. I was in holidays this whole last week, and as a friend told me Chester died, i knew he suicided, was my first thought, then i read about it, and it was, it was something you could easily expect. RIP Chester, i´m super heart broken.
Now that Chester is gone, this hits so much more differently, and I can't listen without tearing up. He not only articulated, but turned into beauty and art, the pain of a tortured soul that so many, myself included, found resonance and a voice in. Thank you forever, Chester.

Eric Ureta I was listening to this album(Minutes to Midnight is my personal favorite LP album) in the car today, and I was looking at the lyrics to this song when it came on, and it was like a stab in my heart. I started to just break down. Linkin Park, was one of the first bands I ever heard and Chester's voice always stayed with me after every album was finished. It's not going to be the same without him around. I wish I could have had the opportunity to see them live. But, now it won't ever come to pass. RIP
FilmFanaticX i feel you. this song was important to me during my parents devorse. it has a lot of sentimental value to everyone. i just wish he didnt throw it all away. Im so fortunate to have seen them live when i was little. ill never forget it and all the other times i spent watching his videos on my dads computer.
Linkin Park saved me from depression and suicide several times. Chester put so much of his heart and soul into songs that it was “our” therapy. The guy that got me through the toughest years of my life. his music is one of reasons why I'm still here today.
Linkin Park saved me from breaking due to the mental abuse by my mother. It got less in the last months but what hurts me the most now is she won't admit she was wrong, to quote Eminem who took my anger while Linkin Park took my fear and sadness. But on it's two years of peak of mental abuse, she insulted me, she shouted at me and broke up everything positive of our relationship. When she mentally abused me so hard I didn't want to stand up anymore, I always listened to this song. It still helps when I got issues with flashbacks.

Chester said "where the F did all those lighters come from?" and he laughed then continued singing. Some madman was walking around with a backpack full of lighters, handing them out and saying "you'll know when its time". Apparently this song was the time. Greatest concert I've ever seen. Chester and Chris on stage together seemed so happy...
I feel comfort whenever I listen to Linkin park, Chester's voice makes me feel like there is someone who understands my pain and my loneliness. Their songs saved me before and it's saving me again now that I feel lost and my world has crashed. I will forever miss him.

There have been very few songs in my life that have made me cry. This is one of them. Linkin Park has made songs that put feelings that I never found words to describe into lyrics of unforgetable songs. I guess Chester lived up to who he wanted to be. He may not have realised it, but he did a lot of us a lot of good. I will definitely remember these things and leave out all the rest, brother!
I cry every single time I hear this song. If anybody is reading this feeling like they don’t have a way out feeling hopeless lost and just want to be done, don’t quit. You’re needed here even if you don’t feel like it even if you feel completely invisible. You do have some thing to offer this world.

The most consistent person is the most understanding person that there is. Chester is the perfect example of a person 😢 understood the struggle of mental health. He was struggling but couldn't find answers to his problems. We have to be fully aware of the signs of mental health awareness.

I listened to you as a child, you helped me grieve and deal with my fathers death. He shot himself when I was 12 and I found him first. But I look at you and the tragedy that happened and wonder, if one can reach the hearts of millions then why have the millions failed the heart of one or more? We need to understand and take seriously what others convey to us, because you never know when one light will go quietly in the night.

I don't think life is 'hard' these days at all! People have just become soft! 100 years ago life really was 'hard'! Try to imagine life back then, do some research about it. I was listening to this song and rocking my daughter to sleep. I remember breaking down during the second chorus and just sobbing because it hit me on how hard I wanted to end it all. I went immediately to the ER and I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. That was 6 years ago. Chester's suicide hit me hard because he saved me from committing suicide. I fell to my knees and cried.

I grew up on Linkin Park and it was my dream to meet Chester and Mike, to see them and thank them for everything they've done. I am absolutely heartbroken. Linkin Park was my introduction to the alternative rock scene. I am broken. Torn apart. I have never felt sad or was ever truly effected by a famous person passing until Chester. Until this day I can't believe Chester is gone, and the one thing I haven't done was seeing Chester in person, they have concert for relief in my country back in 2013. I was in holidays this whole last week, and as a friend told me Chester died, i knew he suicided, was my first thought, then i read about it, and it was, it was something you could easily expect.

Eric Ureta I was listening to this album(Minutes to Midnight is my personal favorite LP album) in the car today, and I was looking at the lyrics to this song when it came on, and it was like a stab in my heart. I started to just break down. Linkin Park, was one of the first bands I ever heard and Chester's voice always stayed with me after every album was finished. It's not going to be the same without him around. I wish I could have had the opportunity to see them live. But, now it won't ever come to pass. RIP

Linkin Park saved me from depression and suicide several times. Chester put so much of his heart and soul into songs that it was “our” therapy. The guy that got me through the toughest years of my life. his music is one of reasons why I'm still here today.

Linkin Park saved me from breaking due to the mental abuse by my mother. It got less in the last months but what hurts me the most now is she won't admit she was wrong, to quote Eminem who took my anger while Linkin Park took my fear and sadness. But on it's two years of peak of mental abuse, she insulted me, she shouted at me and broke up everything positive of our relationship. When she mentally abused me so hard I didn't want to stand up anymore, I always listened to this song. It still helps when I got issues with flashbacks.

I was listening to this song and rocking my daughter to sleep. I remember breaking down during the second chorus and just sobbing because it hit me on how hard I wanted to end it all. I went immediately to the ER and I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. That was 6 years ago. Chester's suicide hit me hard because he saved me from committing suicide. I fell to my knees and cried.

Your life's work meant, and still means, the world to me. I grew up under Linkin Park and coped because someone screamed all the things I couldn't, wouldn't' t -- I'm heartbroken that you're gone man wtf, and I think maybe a lot of us are still fucked up over that loss. It's hard to hear those songs now without feeling the pain in them, I feel so guilty for missing that as a teen, but they also remind me of how powerfully your music connected with people in general but especially my generation. You helped us understand the darkness, how to stand up and fight when wronged, and so much more about basically everything. Like the older brother I never had, gone.
Wherever you are I hope you've found peace. No one deserves it more man.
If anyone reading this is struggling, please know that you're not alone. There are people who care, look at the numbers of people here years later even. Chester may be accomplishing more after he's gone than most do in 80 living, but it's still too hard to swallow. But if you're here feeling lost you don't gotta be, and there's help out here. Don't let the darkness win, people count on you more than we take time to realize I think. There are people who love you, even if you can't see it right now. And Chester, wherever you are, I hope you see how much you mean to all of us.

I grew up on Linkin Park and it was my dream to meet Chester and Mike, to see them and thank them for everything they've done. I am absolutely heartbroken. Linkin Park was my introduction to the alternative rock scene. I am broken. Torn apart.
I have never felt sad or was ever truly effected by a famous person passing until Chester.
