Erandaam Chanakyan is a series that deals with the relevance of VEDAS to Modern Science.
This series was made in the year 1999 and is still relevant. It is one of a kind series that is set both in the Agraharm and City.
The serial is directed by Bombay Chanakya along with the story, screenplay and the dialogues.
The serial was produced by Min Bimbangal with Geetha Kailasam as the producer.
The story revolves around a small boy who took vengeance in trying to destroy the ego and cruelty of a man who was responsible for the death of his father. The theme was taken from the story of Chanakya ,who took his revenge and destroyed the king named Nanda, for insulting and humiliating him.
The cast includes famous actors like Venu Arvind, Chethan, Mohan Ram, Dr.Sharmila, Bhanumathi, Meera Krishnan, Bombay Gnanam, Vijayasarathy, AnithaMathews, Sangeetha and others.
The serial had a pleasant title song sung by Unnikrishnan, with the lyrics written by Dr. Kiruthaya and music composed by Ramani Bharadwaj. The re-recording is by Rehaan.
The camera work was handled by Raghunatha Reddy, who had done the best job.
The serial revolved around the backdrop of the cultures and traditions of the Brahmin community. Venu Arvind as usual had performed with his excellent acting skills. The role done by Chethan was highly appreciating since it was a different role in his acting career.
The serial had attracted viewers from all communities as it was very interesting and was elaborated in such a way it described and showed the culture of the community. Many scenes and some of their habits were seen only in the movies and serial which was also one of the reasons for the success, as many people liked to watch the life styles of olden days which are history now. Mohanram and Meera Krishna played their roles casually, for which they were very well-known . The child artists too performed their roles naturally. The house they had shown in the serial, the kitchen, the backyard along the village people, made the viewers desire for the olden days. Irandam Chanakyan was one of the serials which portrayed the south Indian culture very clearly.

Second end is not correct. Kumar has promised to his mother at her death bed that he will perform the last rites of his father. As a pariharam for all his misdeeds he should continue to live with his father

Dikshitar understood from the horoscope of the child that his parents will suffer( might die) so cleverly he exchanged the child for the dead child of Santhanaraman.
But don't ask how Dikshitar knew the horoscope in the hospital itself ( assume somehow he knew) in heavy rains. Secondly if exchanging the child will exchange the karma also.
I understand your predicament in rushing through the final stages of this story imposed upon you by the producers or the media through which you encased your story. Any how the second opinion of punishing himself is worth the choice There is another way and that is kumar could have then his father to a far-off holy place Kasi to seek retribution for his sins and also fulfilling his mother's wish of doing the last rites for his father on the banks of Ganga. There is no need for tie up for each of the characters involved.

This is the difference between learning by self and learning from a Guru. Since he has based his learning on revenge, he has not put education to good use and misused it.

Whatever every action has equal and opposite reaction. It is a KARMA. Dikshithar who claim himself as authority of vedas changing his own child to swaminathan family and wiping out of the family is not correct and the same karma ruined him
The end in this episode is correct and a right decision.
To answer one point Kumar is not an AVTAR or Rishi to know the past present and future to recognise who is his real parents are. He leaned vedha for the purpose and the purpose is served .
It is not Swaminathan as you mentioned, but it is Santhanam to whose family Thyagarajan was given as a child. Now, one big flaw in Dikshitar's reasoning to give Thyagarajan away to Santhanam: Just becuase you give away a child the fate (jAthakam, if you will) of that child does not change. Thyagarajan was not transferred to Santhanam in a formalized sweekaram ceremony. It was a deceptive transfer to make it look like he was born to Dharmambal. Thyagarajan's karma/fate would affect only Dikshitar. Dikshitar figured that the dOsham in Thyagarajan's horoscope can be transferred to the parent to whom he was given away. It was a faulty assumption, despite Dikshitar's vedic knowledge.

Though many prefer the second ending, I chose to prefer the first.
Thyagarajan had been shouldered by his biological mother Rajam that he must perform the last rites of his father Vishwanatha Deekshithar and this, I feel is the only way of redeeming Thyagu from his sins.
The Killings of the family members were entirely unreasonable because a person, especially someone proficient as Thyagarajan, would know the pain of bereavement and would not wish it upon anyone. The worser part is that the characters of Hari, Kaushik, Vishali and Revathi died unnatural deaths(Hence their souls will not attain peace, especially Revathi as commiting suicide tortures one's soul in the afterlife)
Challenging Deekshithar to a debate regarding Veda Shastras and winning him over and stripping his title as "Veda Shiromani" would have been fitting enough to quell his arrogance.
For the bereavements Deekshithar went through, It is believable that he may not live for long. So instead of abandoning his father, he could've served his needs up until the end and could've gave up wordly desires and become a saint.
This series has honestly been a rollercoaster of sorts, eagerly waiting everyday for a new episode and watching the family of Mahadevan, Murali, Vishwanatha Deekshithar's story.
Kudos to all the actors including Shri Venu Aravind , Late Madurai Shri Rajamani Iyer , Late Shri Telephone Venkatraman , Shrimathi Anitha Matthews , Dr Sharmila , Shri Kavithalaya Krishnan and many others for this wonderful treat of a series
