BartCast well actually Christmas was a thing then only it wasn't known as Christmas. It was however the 25th December. The Romans celebrated Saturnalia, the pagan winter solstice festival. Jesus wasn't even born on the 25th of December. This was just a date chosen to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Maybe to coincide with the already on going celebrations.
