ABOUT DILLON:
Welcome to Animals at Home! My name is Dillon and I am the creator of most of the content found on this site. I have been in the reptile hobby for over a decade. I have been passionate about animals as far back as I can remember. My goal with the content I produce is the following:
Encourage hobbyists to participate in conservation efforts by way of providing interesting content about animals in the wild.
Educate the younger generation of young pet hobbyists and help inspire a future role as a researcher or conservationist.
Entertain! I.e. provide interesting content for those who just want to learn more about the creatures we share the Earth with!

Great work! Fun conversation to listen to.
Thanks, TC!
Very interesting podcast. Nice to see a good Facebook group that is educational and helpful and supportive and that there members are also kind and helpful at that large a number 😊
Thanks for listening 😊yes... it’s so nice to see FB being used constructively!
i recently was asked to become admin on the tegu uk group because of my passion for these wonderful animals, even tho i am a new keeper! Our group is small but its is generally extremely positive place which is always the aim. Like discussed in the video the underlying aim should always be the animals welfare rather than human ego's. I have shared your video's with the group, sadly they dont get as much attention as a fun tegu picture, but I'll keep sharing in the hope ppl click and listen and learn more. Infact today i shared the life time span video as we are heading into baby season.
:)
Hey Jess, thank you very much for sharing the videos I really appreciate it 😊 Good luck admin-ing the tegu group, sounds like you guys have an awesome group!
Great interview, Dillon! I've seen Dru's name in various reptile groups, so I recognized him by that, but didn't realize just how cool of a guy he is. Thanks for the podcast/video! It would be awesome if you could make it down to the Advancing Herptological Husbandry conference in St Louis in October. We're going to try to make it. 🦎👍
Thanks Cole! Yes, he’s a fantastic guy and truly sacrificing a lot for the betterment of the reptile industry. I was invited to come to the conference and I’m sad to say the time frame doesn’t work for me unfortunately (I’m getting married the week after haha!). However my goal is to eventually make it out to one, would love to meet everyone in person!
@@AnimalsatHomePodcast That would be awesome if you could make it to one of those conferences. We're really looking forward to it. It's about a 7 hour drive for us, but it'll give us an excuse to check out the St Louis Zoo, too. We've got a pretty fantastic zoo here in Omaha, but we love seeing different zoos and how they configure their enclosures. I guess if you can't make it, getting married is a pretty good excuse...lol. Congrats!
Haha yes thank you! I will certainly make it to one at some point that’s for sure!
Cool idea with the secret group where you post their name and what they said or did, and then you can search their name in the future and easily see the history there (and maybe add a bit to it). Might do that with the group I'm an admin of when there's more of a need.
Yeah I think that’s an excellent idea as well... so easy to lose track of people otherwise!
Any chances you will discuss about the Advancing Herpetological Husbandry group and the Not Just a Pet Rock (NJPR) group?
Those are great groups! Episode 29 features Sam Perrett (an admin on AHH group)
