    We bought into DVC in 2008 and then added on in 2018. Our only regret is not buying resale vs direct for our second contract. Thanks for such an informative vlog.

      You’ve really gotten some great mileage out of your initial DVC contract! Thanks for your input.

      Is there a video that explains combining points? I bet you can't combine resale and direct points right?

    I always learn so much from your videos. I’ve been trying to get my husband on board with DVC, but he’s reluctant. We have a couple of condos in Orlando, so we usually stay there, but every third or fourth trip we stay on property.

      Keep the condos, rent them out, decorate them with Disney stuff and it's a lot cheaper than buying a DVC membership because of the expensive dues costing upto $3,600 a year depending on the home resort and don't forget having to buy additional points. Then visit Disney Springs so you can feel the Disney magic without the huge cost of going to the Magic Kingdom.

    I agree with all you say. I have 4 home resorts, Vero, AKL, Riviera, and Grand Floridian. I do split stays but generally will do 4 days in Disneyworld and 5 days at Vero. At Vero we usually do inn rooms at 10 points per night. We also do concierge at AKL any chance we can and get a second value unit for my friends. We love Riviera like you and also love the other three resorts. I have 925 points but I am selling my only resale 175 contract at Vero and will be buying at Disneyland.

      Oh, wow! That's A LOT of points! Sounds like a great plan to pick up points at the new Disneyland Tower! 👍

    Sorry, just found this older video so not sure if you're monitoring comments or not. But what if you had 3 contracts do different resorts for 100 each. Could you reserve "resort 1" at the 11 month mark and use all 300 points? Seems like a great way to have say Grand Californian on a 100 point contract, and guarantee yourself a 300 point reservation.

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Welcome to the channel! Great question. The 11 month booking window only applies to the points at their home resort. So, if you had 100 points at Grand Californian and 100 at Aulani, each of those could only be used to book at 11 months at their home resort. They can only be combined at the 7 month window. On the other hand, if you had more than one contract at the SAME home resort, those points could be combined together to make a reservation at the 11 month window.

Helping members/prospective members to have the best possible experience is our #1 goal with our DVC videos! Thanks so much for supporting the channel. ❤

      @@TheMagicInTheMusic We followed the advice we had received and called requesting our club ID as soon as the activation code was sent via email. That took about 15 minutes to get a response and then 24 hours later we called back and they loaded our points. Our trip was booked almost immediately following! LOL. It's amazing how much simpler the process is because of caring and compassionate people such as yourself who take the time to put the information out there in a manner that very easy to follow and understand. My wife and I are super excited!

    I don’t have many but I do wish we would have thought through our home resort. I love Aulani but don’t get there enough to warrant it being our home resort. You are absolutely right about DVC not being for everyone. I love to plan and prepare for our trips but if that’s not your thing, it may not be right for you.

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make an excellent point about Aulani. For many members, it's more difficult to get there as often. We live on the west coast and still travel to Florida much more often than to Hawaii. So glad that you're able to plan and prepare and get the most out of your membership. Best wishes!

    thanks for the video. I have multiple contracts at Copper Creek, boardwalk and Poly. I definitely didnt buy enough points the first time.
    I do have all contracts with the same use year. October is best for me as we travel between nov-march.
    i wish i had bought DVC earlier and chose Bay Lake instead of Copper Creek. But no real regrets.

    We are too new to DVC to have regre.......... oh, yeah... we DEFINITELY waited to long to do it, but we got REALLY lucky and bought resale at a SUPER low rate. Just wish we'd done it when Disney was selling the points direct for cheaper then we bought the resale contract. We passed... we shouldn't have.

    We just got back from a trip. We did take a DVC tour. I don’t mind the upfront cost. I just can’t get past the yearly dues. I don’t like how the yearly dues aren’t locked in and go up every year. What are the yearly dues going to be like in 20 years.

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a valid concern. So far the dues haven't been a big issue for us, but it IS an expense. We just generally look at the cost of a hotel at Disney and always feel good to have our DVC points instead. Another option is to rent points, so you avoid having to make the commitment. That might be a good fit. Thanks for watching! 👍

    Is it true that if you buy resell contracts, you don’t get the perks of buying direct??? Like dvc parties and such

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you become a new member via resale only, you do not have access to the member perks, but you DO still have access to use your points at the resort, which is really what you’re buying, anyway. For many members, being a resale-only member is a great value! 👍

    Another great video! One question I have that I can't seem to find the answer to is whether the only direct.contracts currently available are Riviera and Aulani? I would love to buy some at Riviera and some at Poly for example but can't see on the website where I can buy anything other than Riviera and Aulani. Thanks so much for your awesome videos!

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Yes, you CAN buy the “sold out” resorts direct from Disney. You just have to speak to a guide about it. The main downside is that the incentives only apply to the “current” properties- Riviera snd Aulani. And you will get a much better deal on Poly through resale. But if you want direct points from Poly, you certainly can buy them directly from DVC. I believe these prices are still current (for Poly, at least): www.google.com/amp/s/www.resalesdvc.com/how-much-does-dvc-cost-2021-price-list/amp/

      @lauramiller289 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMagicInTheMusic it did! Then I took your advice and looked at resale websites and was shocked at the difference! I think the move would be to buy some Riviera for the perks and then a resale contract. Any website you recommend for resale?

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's more important to find the right contract than to stick with any particular resale company. Remember that you can negotiate prices, just like normal real estate. This website has a listing of contracts on the market from a variety of sources. It's a good way to find contracts. www.disneydvcresale.com/
