This week HNHH features Luke Christopher, newly signed to ByStorm/RCA Records.
As a gifted singer-songwriter-producer-rapper, Luke is gearing to hit the road with Gilbere Forte this fall. Luke will self-release an EP titled "WONDER YEARS VOL 1" later in October. Last year, Luke collaborated with rapper Common on a track title "Sex With You," from Luke's debut mixtape TMRW, TWRW (hosted by The L.A. Leakers)

This was my "gettin' pumped to go out song" tonight. Lol. I laugh because I remember a few years ago at college it wasn't quite like that. Maybe some "swimmin' pools full of liquor gonna dive in it" type of thing. Or "bottoms up". Gettin' pumped to get wasted and try and meet chicks, you know? (although I never had much luck, at least with the chicks part.) Well now I'm 26 and a lot's changed for me. I quit drinking, not for any sort of religious "drinking is bad" thing... Just because there hit a point where things got so bad for me I had no choice but to get my act together or really mess up my life permanently. I started valuing the right things. Stopped trying to act like I was the shit, and just started being cool with being simple old me. Started doing karate as a gift to myself to show myself that I'm worth fighting for and that I'm capable of it. Well, karate is a bit of grind, always trying to get better and better. Just like life. Life's never easy but at 26 you're still trying to figure out who you are, what you want, where you're going, and the clock is kind of running out. I mean, I know there's a lifetime ahead of me, but the difference is now I can't just sit on my butt thinking about it... I gotta make that money now. Mom and dad ain't gonna be around forever.
So that's me, that's my grind, every day trying to do the right thing for myself and for the world. What's the occasion tonight? I'm meeting my girlfriend's extended family for dinner. I already get along great with her parents but this is the first time we do something formal with her aunts, uncles and cousins. I feel like what I've been through has made me a strong self-assured guy but damn, I'll tell you what, something about this scares me, lol. Guess I just want to make a good impression.
So tonight this was my going out song, getting pumped up to meet the future in-laws. Been on that grind, surviving, tryna do the right thing. And like the song says, I know good things will come. Great tune and hits the message in all the right ways. Thanks Luke. And thanks anyone who took the time to read this.
