You mentioned that you bought the stihl fs 91 R cheaper that what the suggested price is. Could you tell me how you got the discount to the stihl fs 91, thanks for your videos,
At the point I made this video I was doing quit a bit of business with my dealer. They were giving me a very good price so it was just a matter of asking them. Thanks for watching!!
Good video mate. I just bought a Stihl FS91R on your recommendation, but I’m never going to use mine because I just can’t bring myself to make it dirty. Best trimmer I’ve ever bought.
Hey Shane, Thanks for sharing. I learn something new every day on TH-cam. I just purchased the FS91R and I own a Echo 225. On the first use of the FS91 I was frustrated by the trimmer head constantly having the string disappear into the head. Never had this problem with the Echo. Spooling the line was a pain compared to Echo. Thanks to you I just learned that I can use the Echo speed feed on my Stihl. I am going to try this today, and wanted to ask if it is easy to change the part on the trimmer or will I need any additional parts to make the Echo part fit the Stihl? May be a dumb question but I am not in the lawncare business and not very mechanically oriented. Thanks in advanced for your help.
There is a part inside the head you will need to change but all the parts are in the Echo kit. If you have problems with it, go to a local dealer and they should be able to help you. You will love the Echo head! I never use the Stihl bump head, not very good. If you need anything else, feel free to ask. Thanks Don
I have the FS91R and I do use the shoulder strap. I couldn't do without it or the optional harness. I have the handlebar grip and I couldn't otherwise use the trimmer/brush cutter.
Wondering if you ever grease the head...gotta pull the plug on the 91 and use that Stihl grease tube that threads on, or put a zerk on...many comments elsewhere say don't touch it, mine is 2 yrs old now, just asking a friend
I’ve got one of the 91R and I hate the thing I’ve had nothing but trouble with it since I bought it I’m in the process of rebuilding my old 90R love those.
The 90 was a great model, plenty of power. It's like everything else, there are always some bad apples in the bunch. Mine has been great but love my 111r
Funny because my neighbor has a 91R and uses it for his home...says he has no issues...mine 2yrs old, always ran like crap...ever since I asked him, mine runs like a champ now, don't get it, came close to tossing it the other day...50 lawns/week I do...thought I had a "lemon"...see how it goes!!!
I have the km91r and it drives me nuts too. It also runs super inconsistently like it will run great one day and the next day vapor locks constantly. I don't think these things like being ran hard on 100f+ days because of the crappy fuel tank designe.
Damn right those echo speed feed heads are the best. I have tried some after market brand "speed feed" that were more cumbersome than the taditional wind-up spools. I like the fact the spark plug is encased, on those hot august days and the sweat is pouring it sucks to get a jolt of electricity when your triming.
Looking at buying one here in American Samoa...$429.99 at Ace Hardware. We cut whole yards here with string trimmers, bought an Echo SRM 225 two years ago...it finally gave up the ghost, low power now at full throttle. A couple yards I cut take over 5 hours to finish, hopefully the process will speed up with the FS 91 R. Do you have any thoughts about the effects this constant use will have on the machine. I will be using it 5 to 6 days a week, some days it will only run for a couple hours. Any input will be appreciated. Fa'afetai lava
What is the difference in the FS 131 and FS 131 R? All i can see and find is the bike handle as opposed to the loop handle. Ace here only carries the FS 131(bike handle)...which I am not a fan of that style and shipping/ordering the FS 131 R is somewhat out of the question. Just to give you an idea on the price for things here ACE asking price for the FS 131 $529.99🙄 US dollars.
DLT Lawncare also bought the ms 170 for $143.00 got the big gallon of stihl mixed fuel and the doubled my warranty on the 91r and total for both was $484

seriously man, maybe if you were gonna weedeat 10 minutes a month, other than that the Milwauki is junk. I could put one in the starting lineup it would not last a month
Nice video man but unfortunately stihl 4mix trimmers and blowers have been nothing but problems for my company was never able to get 2 to 3 years out of them they start losing power melting timing gears broken cranks I mean terrible and all I ever used was stihl and echo oil and 89 octane here in Miami they just don't last for some reason.
I can understand that, I had nothing but problems with echo trimmers but the blowers are great. It just seems like we get lemons sometimes and then it turns us off of those name brands. Thanks brother!
@@DOCREAL1118 I didn't get any lemons cuz I had at least a dozen with those problems and echos do really good here Miami and much more simple to maintain and easy to fix.
@@DOCREAL1118Man 2 mechanics have told me already the enemy of stihl 4mix is heat and humidity down here I don't know if that's true or not but they have shown me proof of melted plastic gears and broken cranks of my equipment and others that bring there equipment for repairs.

I have this after using Shindawa for a long time. The Stihl heads are sh*t, I do the same thing, Echo/Shindawa Speed Feed heads only. This trimmer is a Fn beast! It is MUCH more powerful than my old Shindawas.
Good head on a junk trimmer! 16-1/2 cut swath about the same as a $90 trimmer from walmart with more power and people try to compare this with trimmers that cut 20” swaths. Thy and sling 20” with the 91r and you can see it does not have even enough power to barely run. $30 dollar head on a $2 trimmer.
My boss just bought me an fs91 after I requested a new 111 and I'd love to throw this POS in the trash. It has decent power if you're willing to wait 2 minutes to wind up everytime you give it gas
your in the lawn biz and you still have the guard on, wow, thats no good. The correct length on this unit if using 105 is 9 inches, which cannot be obtained w the guard, and the one screw you refer to is not for the guard. If you really wanna make this unit perform at its best take the dang guard off, take the screen out of the muffler, reset the carb, and you have something then. I'm running 2 91's and 2 131's and the 91 is better, nothing but problems w the 131. I hate the new 4 mix stuff, they have no sweet spot even when properly tuned, 2 stroke is the way to go. Speaking of 2 strokes, Stihl is bringing back the 250, yes the baddest weedeater known to modern man, should be out any time now, use one of those you'll never run a 4 mix again, let the mexicans run those....Roost
Anymore info on the upgrades to the 91r? I have a new one that doesn't run as good as i think it should.. carb feels like it needs to be adjusted. Bogs then revs after running awhile then acts like it's about to die.
@@Guardianautoservices first thing I'd do is pull that screen outta the muffler, it gets gummed up and robs power. They call that a spark arrestor, it's an EPA thing, throw it away. Other than that the air filter needs to be checked, these 4 mix Stihls just run weird, nothing like a pure 2 stroke. For most folks they don't know any different, but I have been running one nearly every day for years and years and I dam sure noticed. They do have a ton o torque though, which is great if you run a blade especially.
How do you remove the carburetor on a fs 91 r?
Can I put a hedge trimmer attachment onto this?
Not on this one
