I’m from a similar town near Taumarunui called Kakahi. We had 4 saw mills a century ago and Mille Totara. Our church is identical to this one and made from Rimu wood where the wood came from Raurimu. So the Iwi here must be Tuwharetoa Like me I’m guessing.

Hell bells Richard.-You must have gone to isolated school to have fried bread and Kina. Every Kiwi knows that all the snakes(including the trouser species) in NZ are tame in the daylight but beware at night they become a "kahua". To appease a kahua during moonless nights, one should carry bread and throw it on the ground for them to feed on.That way they will have full stomach and go to sleep till sunrise. Its hard to comprehend why Aussie Shelia go crazy and and want their own Kiwi trouser snake as a pet and mate. God bless AU
