I always wondered how it is possible that these guys just can't stop creating one masterpiece after another. But wait, perhaps there is no need to wonder anymore, no need to overcomplicate, but just enjoy.
Listened to this one over 20-30 times and after that realize that its a quite masterpiece tune for this type of music.Not too often can hear like that.
I remember feeling a unique magic the first time I heard The Racing Heart, some sort of confort in my heart. Somehow Opaline produced that same effect in me. Words can't describe how grateful I am for your beautiful music thank you Katatonia for delivering magic once again in my live. 🖤

Agreed!!! Best heavy record I think I have heard in a very long time. I'm not into heavy metal music that much anymore and yet Katatonia is my favourite band of all time. These guys are special in the way they create hard rocking music. It's almost chill and just fucking cool...I really really vibe with this band in a way I can't say about any other. What's your current fav off the album? I have gone back and fourth so many times but it's like this now: 1. Sclera 2. Birds 3. Opaline
Yeah I agree. It's not just Katatonia's best album to date, but it's it's an outright masterwork....layered, complex, cathartic, and utterly gorgeous. Cannot pick a favorite track yet, but Opeline is stunning.

Fun fact: about half of the footage used here is from their fantastic 12/7/22 show at Gas Monkey Live in Dallas. It was very foggy that night and the venue is right by a large pond. Perfect ambiance for this show. Also, I can see myself on the balcony🤘
After the last album, and their talk of taking a break, I never thought they’d do anything as glorious as this ever again. Up there with their very best songs.

This is a band I listened to quite a bit 10, 15 years ago. Omerta, Evidence, My Twin... Then kind of forgot. On a whim today I looked them up and found this. The sound is different but still very recognizable. Evolved I guess. Great song, and I'm so happy to see they're still going strong.
I think this is about loss & moving on from that dark place where someone has departed from you but still the memory of them registers somewhere, always within your subconscious rattling around.
It's their combination of synths, vocals and traditional instruments that make for such a great listening experience that really creates a unique sounds cape. This album so far reminds me of night is the new day
A dreamy sophisticated melodic Prog Metal tune. As you'd expect from this subgenre, the production is absolutely excellent - listen through some quality headphones and you'll get a superb listening experience. It oozes quality, relying on its flow and melody rather than hooks and riffs to keep your attention. And it certainly does flow beautifully. One for the recliner with a coffee, although if you see them live this year I've no doubt you'll be treated to superlative musicianship. My Score: Very Good 4*

Great work Niklas. My favourite Katatonia video yet. It felt like a celebration of the band and everyone that makes the magic happen. It was nice to get the behind the scenes perspective that we wouldn't normally get to see.
This song is probably my favorite off of Sky Void of Stars. It's so powerful, so magical, and Jonas just has a way of conveying so much emotion in a few minutes. This was on repeat for me last year and it's gonna be on repeat in 2024 as well! Hope you guys come to the midwest again soon!

I think I understand Napalm records strategy with singles now after listening the full album. They will wait a bit to see how sales go and then release the official video for Impermanence and the sales will go up at least five times :-)

It's a great chorus. Words and melody. There's something haunting and sad about it, but also uplifting. Like a lot of Katatonia's music.
