    I don’t have those plastic bits that go out the back. I’ve got metal ones. Are they compatible with the rails?

      I’m not really sure, as I’ve not encountered those. Check your instructions, hopefully there’s some information in there that will help.

    Is this works on concrete wall? Any idea how to install the suspension rails to the concrete wall? Thanks

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the rail on concrete, but would need a concrete wall anchor. Something like this:
      www.homedepot.com/p/Tapcon-3-16-in-x-2-1-4-in-Star-Flat-Head-Concrete-Anchors-75-Pack-28360/314120464?ITC=AUC-68887-23-12075
      But make sure you get the proper length for your wall. (I can’t advise you there. I’d have to see the wall.)

      It’s parts of the rail system, which they have replaced with a newer system. Looks like this:

      @@CliffsHowTo Thanks! I wonder why they didn't just make them metal from the start. The plastic ones are a bit flimsy.
      I managed to find a way to get my broken ones working again with a bit of McGuyvering, but maybe I'll replace them with the metal ones at some point. I wonder if they sell that piece separately. Do you think the metal bracket with work with the old rail system, or will all of it need to be replaced?

    How much weight can those clips hold?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a question that has lots of variables… It depends on the type of wall construction, the type of fastener and number of fasteners used, etc. It does mount the cabinet in a very sturdy way. I wouldn’t use it as a bench, but I’d have no issue putting heavier items on it.

    • @RR-ok4wz
      @RR-ok4wz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @cliffshowto makes some excellent points. On one of my floating wall-mount besta units I actually had plastic clips one model older and they held up rather well. What didn't hold up well were the side panels and bottom horizontal panel - the screws ended up coming loose and the panels started to separate from where they screwed into each other (this is over a span of about 10 years). I've taken the unit apart and reinforced all the panels (with metal corner brackets) and the mounting to the wall (with additional fasteners), so hopefully it'll last another 5-7 years before it starts to sag again (maybe it won't).
      That said, I also had some really heavy items in that particular besta unit: a stereo receiver, small laser scanner/printer, and lots of electronics (iPad/three cameras, box of cables, 2 - 3 reams of printer paper etc.). I've lightened that load after the reinstallation process, but surprisingly it did hold quite a bit of weight! Just make sure you fasten it really well using long wood screws that go directly into wall studs as well as the strongest drywall anchors possible. It's always better to overdo it, IMO.

    • @MrVisde
      @MrVisde 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Besta secures itself to the wall nicely. Unfortunately the bottoms of the cabinets use a plastic part to lock into place. I’ve noticed the cabinets starting to bow and the bottoms starting to pull away if I load them up with heavy things like books.

    You skipped the most important step; how to align the holes in the cabinet to meet the metal bracket. Then, how to attach the screws to the bracket.

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you put the rail in the right place, then when you put it on the wall, there’s no alignment to be done. You just put the bolt in.
