The perch you made is beautiful! I am sure Morisuke will enjoy it regularly. You are very observant about the beak rubbing! Sadly I don’t have a clear answer for you as Ava (my Rosifrons Conure) does it when she’s annoyed but my Meyer’s Parrot (Misty) does it regularly and she’s always in a happy mood. Maybe they just enjoy the vibration from the friction but that’s just a guess. I am excited to see what next week’s video has in store for us! ❤️
Hi Dave, Thank you for your valuable input on the behavior of birds rubbing their beaks. As you say, the act seems to have different meanings for different species of birds. I did a little research after uploading the video, and it seems that crows rub their beaks as an act of intimidation, but in other birds it may be an expression of affection. In Moresuke's case, it is definitely an act of intimidation, but maybe he is intimidating me and not Miyuki 😂. Thank you always for all your support!🥰
Miyuki chan is so cute and her new swing is lively. You are talented. She is smart to be with you so much. Wonder why she got so wet? It can happen if they don’t find shelter. Hojisuke being a bully. Toad san has some usefulness in chasing Hojisuke away. Jo io is so colorful, even on his back. Sparrows need to muscle up and kick Toad san away. Animal behavioralists would call Toad’s beak swiping diverted aggression. He wants to attack you but can’t so he swipes at the grass.
Oh my god! I never thought that Moreske would want to attack me!😱 I thought he was angry at Miyuki. But I think he is wiping his beak when Miyuki is always with me. I think I need to observe his behavior more! Maybe Miyuki has been foraging in the rain for so long that the oil in her feathers has washed off.🤔 And please tell me why you call Moreske a toad 😂. @ Now that I think about it,and how wagtails are with mates, you are probably correct-toad wants to chase and peck Miyuki chan it he is afraid of you. I do not like toads and I do not like Moresuke so - he is Toad san. 😁
What a beautiful report ❤ Know what? Moresuke is kinda cute too, I'd date him. That's exactly what I thought when he was cleaning his beak! It looked like he was sharpening his blade. Definitely a threatning behaviour. Miyuki is such a precious mechanic letting you know you need your car checked. I hope she stays close to you for a long time... your bond is heartwarming. Jobio is always at his own pace and comes to the shed or yard every day, but is often gone during the day. But in the evening he always comes back to the tree in my yard to spend some time until he returns to his roost. Daurian redstart also seems to be a territorial species, but I guess he has no rivals in the neighborhood. I too ♥ the beautiful and peaceful Jovio ☺.
@@Sekisuke A few reasons he's a medal winner in my eyes .I still recall his peeking around the box in your amazing haven. .When he migrated I was worried .His size facing such distance & hazards had me longing to see his return , as we say in English 'safe and sound '-May sound crazy but I cried with joy . Jovio is our hero .Says much about you that he chose to return and felt safe ♥🙂
First of all I would like to say thank you for another interesting video that you uploaded! I always excitedly await for a new upload of yours, with your observations on these birds. I extremely like your channel! According to my observations: Wagtails clean their beaks, usually after eating or if they have touched something with their beak. When Hojisuke tried to go to Miyuki, he kind of bowed, this is what wagtails usually do before attacking, this is threatening behavior. When Miyuki heard Moresuke, it was more like a joyful exclamation. The calls are of course different, but the tone in my opinion is similar to white wagtails that we have here in Russia. Because I hear my white wagtails' calls everyday, I can now tell what mood they have based on the call, or what they want to convey by these calls. In my opinion, and based on experience communicating with those animals daily, wagtails have a very developed emotional intelligence-they can tell the moods of others around them and are adept at conveying their own (my own wagtails can).
No one knows more about them than you who actually live with the wagtails. And I can gain a lot of knowledge from your opinion. Thank you so much for your very interesting and educational comments!😊 I am very happy to know that Miyuki was happy to hear Moleske's chirp. @Sekisuke my friend in Moscow region has two pets wagtails, sister and brother. The male behaves towards his sister the same way Moresuke treats Miyuki. Wagtails are very territorial and very pugnacious 😄

Hi 👋! Greetings from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. I did some searching on the web, and found out recently that the Japanese Wagtail, the White Wagtail, and the Pied Wagtail are being placed in the same species. Professional Ornithologists / DNA Taxonomists claim that unless blood samples or other DNA Testing is done to confirm otherwise, then and only then, decisions will prove they are the ONE and ONLY ONE Species.

前回までは美雪がモレ助を恐れ避けている様に見えていました。
何だか同級生のやんちゃな彼との繊細な恋物語みたいな感じでした。☺️
モレは若いので、そのうち物置にも普通に出入り出来ると思います。
雌が強い時期に入ったら、二羽の関係性の変化が楽しみですね。😊

モレ助がまだまだ尖っていて、そんなところにちょっと戸惑ってる感じの美雪です🤭
いつも庭にやって来てはモレ助が美雪を追い払うのですが、それでも２羽ともおやつを食べたあとは一緒に電線で羽繕いしていたり一緒に飛んで行ったりと常に一緒に行動していて本当に可愛いです☺
最近はよく美雪が物置の中に居るときに扉の外から中を覗いています。モレ助が物置のドアをなんとか克服してくれると良いのですが。
来春モレ助と美雪の立場逆転をなんとか記録したいところです！
それまで２羽が仲良く元気に通ってきてくれることを日々祈ってます😊

嘴擦り、雪ちゃんの場合はクチバシが汚れるのが嫌でおやつを一つ食べては擦り、もう一つ食べては擦り・・と神経質な一面がある子でした（笑）
そして美雪のワームを避ける行動はお腹があまり空いてない時、満腹になりつつある時によくやります🤭
因みにモレ助はワームが飛んでくるのにビビっていちいち逃げてから戻って来て食べます😂

大雨の時、雨水にあまり強くない鳥さんはどうやって夜を過ごしているんだろうか？とずっと思ってます。カモ類は大丈夫だろうと安心ですが、カモ類ほどは水を弾く羽をもっていない鳥さん、、、どこでどうやって夜を過ごしているのか、、、
モレ助と美雪ちゃんの雨水の弾き方も違いましたね😮
美雪ちゃんはまだ完成途中の羽なんでしょうかね😮 成長には差もありますしね、生まれた時期も、あるやろうしね😮

ハクセキレイは天候が悪い日はいつものねぐらに居なかったりするので、ちゃんと雨風が避けられる別のねぐらがあるのだと思いますよ😊どんな強い台風が来ても次の日ケロッとした顔で庭にやって来たりするので、きっと私たち人間よりずっと良い場所を知っているのでしょう🤭
美雪がずぶ濡れになっていたのは長い時間雨にあたりながらどこかで採餌してたのかなと思ったのですが、若いが故に羽の手入れがまだ下手な可能性もあるかもしれませんね🤔

さえずりともなれば割と個体差があるので聞き分ける事も出来ないことはないのですが、実はモレ助が飛んでくる時の声を聞き分けているわけではないのです🤭
縄張り争いが終わった今の時期はモレ助の縄張りであるこの近辺に他のハクセキレイがあのように叫びながら入ってくる事はほぼ無くて、モレ助か美雪のどちらかになります🙂
ホジ助は物置のおやつを食べにやってきますが、そーっとこっそり鳴き声を立てずにやってきます😆

こんにちは。いや～美雪ちゃん美人ですよね。名前の通りで、雪ちゃんの可憐さも受け継いでいますね。モレ助が頼りになってよかったですが、こういう肝心な時に守れないなら旦那の意味がありません！（どこまでも人類視点・笑）よく考えたら人だって、純然たるパーソナルスペースを侵されたら夫婦間でも怒るもんですよね。

この庭はもともとは美雪が先に居てモレ助は後からきたのだけど、結局モレ助がいなければ美雪は両親からこの庭からは追い出されていたわけなので、やはりここはモレ助の縄張りってことになるのでしょうね（笑）美雪がここではない場所に自分の縄張りを持っているのか甚だ疑問です🤔
ジョウビタキは繁殖期以外は単独で過ごし、雌雄関係なく縄張り争いをするようなので、ジョビ男には今パートナーはいないでしょうね😓毎年新しいパートナーと繁殖するようです。ハクセキレイの夫婦よりドライですよね（笑）

モレ助くんが地面に嘴を擦っている仕草ですが、文鳥の場合ですとこの仕草はそばにいる相手に「好きです」と伝えるサインになります。文鳥を見慣れている私には普通に求愛に見えるんですけど、モレ助くんは単にイライラしてやってるだけかもしれませんね笑
