I was part of this hike. Coby, Vianka and the team were all very patient and inspiring. Learned a lot on this trip and met amazing people who share the same passion. Keep it up!

I agree na magulo and system nila when it comes to assigning porter. Last Aug, we started our climb with no guide or porter kasi wala na daw available. This was a coordinated hike, not really sure whose fault it was but yeah. They left us sa ranger station (literally kami lang tao, no locals or nag-assist) and we were asked to wait for updates. We waited for almost 3 hours but no update at all. It was getting late (3pm na ata non) so we decided to continue and with hike ng walang "guide" or porter, kesa naman umuwi kami back to Manila tapos yung isang couple galing pa talaga ng Davao just to climb Pulag via Akiki (we know it was not safe and shit and we we're a bit irresponsible on that part so wag gagayahin). Anyway, sabi kasi nung isang kasama namin (coor), nakaakyat na daw sya so akala namin alam nya yung daan, yung coor na din pala nagbitbit ng food and supplies namin and syemps tumulong kami to the best we can do, 18kgs ba naman and dala ko and I'm 5'4, shout out Deuter-you the best. So ginawa namin bumalik kami tapos may nakita kami na bahay, pinuntahan namin yung bahay at kinatok, tapos nagpatulong dun sa lokal kung san ang daan, tinuro nya naman and he guided us to Edith river-it was almost 5 when we arrived. We decided to have our dinner na lang muna, and the initial plan was to camp there and climb early the next day, but we decided to just have our dinner then continue sa next camp site.
8PM-killer trail. Can you imagine hiking with a group of people, mostly not harkor hiker if you know what I mean, in the middle of a very dark cold forest, it was raining, ascending with no guide, only following the well-trodden path created by the previous hikers before us while carrying 18kgs of stuff? Buti na lang talaga may baon akong Pau, hayop. Anyway, we arrived sa campsite ng 2am (or 3am?), puno na space but buti na lang aalis na yung iba to continue their climb while kami magpipitch pa lang ng tent HAHAHA. Ayon, the plan was to get some rest until 5 am-ish but we decided na wait na lang until morning since wala din naman clearing because of the weather. 8am or 9am, after breakfast we left the campsite to reach the peak.
Long walk and shitty weather. Reach the peak at around 12pm or 1 siguro.
Moral of the story. magdala ng pau, more sneakers, and water. lol. pumili ng okay na coor.
Don't get me wrong, this was my best climb ever because of this experience. Sabi nga, minsan great experience comes from the wrong people. iba pala yon. Ayun na nga. sana ma-beat ni G2 yung experience na to.
SKL. Hindi nyo naman ako kilala.
Salute pala sayo Coby! I don't usually share my thoughts but your vlog made me do this.
PS. nag o-auto correct words when I was typing. bahala kayo dyan.

I remember, we just rested sa marlboro campsite from 7:30pm to 1 or 2 am and started the trek again to the summit. we used all the time that we could get to eat and rest. we were the only group who did the akiki trail that weeked. sobrang nkakapagod, but when we reached the summit, it was very rewarding lalo na nung pinalakpakan kami ung umakyat via ambangeg. it was my 3rd time sa Mt. Pulag and my 1st time via Akiki trail.

Proud akiki-amba survivor in 2017. This was before nasunog ang saddle camp. Nakapag camp pa kmi sa saddle noon and experienced a negative temperature I believe. I recall walang pansinan sa unang assault papuntang unang campsite - galit galit. I was not informed na ganito kahirap and was carrying around 18kg already offloaded to the porter. I also did amba-amba in 2022 and the experience in akiki on the transition of different landscapes is magical.

Hi sir Coby ask ko lang is it a necessity to have a knee brace/support while hiking especially in major hiking events? If yes do you have a recommended brand of knee support? Sana ma notice. Thank you.
