Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills in such a digestible way for all levels of sewers! Your generosity and clarity are amazing, great teacher! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Hi again and thanks again for another free pattern and great tutorial. I have just finished making one for my father, I used 2 kinds of polar fleece as though he could look a bit immature in fake fur I have as an option. My vintage Elna 500 had no trouble at all and I used craft foam in my visor so I had many layers to go through. I always attach a visor using your method from the middle. I am bit binge sewing flat caps for family and friends. So glad I came across your professional tutorials, I like nice clean finish and designs. For those with vintage machines ( mechanical pre plastic) there should be no trouble with these hat designs as long you can fit layers under the foot- no walking foot needed :-) I am planning to make couple more designs from your video even I am in a warmer climate and never thought I had any passion for hats! Have a lovely day- from Australia 😊
Love this comment!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I hope you will continue to enjoy my hat patterns. Focus for me is always on useful hats and so glad you now have a budding passion for hats!!! Tori
Ms. Thorn, I will be making one for mine as well so I will likely add a kid's version of this video in the early new year! Let me know if you need any sizing help. Tori
Your so inspiring love all your hats and you too all the best when you retired but I think your going to miss making and designing anyways your a great teacher
Hi Nancy, thanks for your lovely comment. I will keep on making and designing but when you are not on deadlines for stock for shows the making and designing is so much more fun!! I have so many patterns still to show you! Tori
I love your high quality of hat making and instructions. My friends appreciate their gifts. I am about to make this, after finishing two of the animal ear kids' hats. At least two of this pattern's pieces indicate to cut on the stretch. Does that mean the others should not be? Thanks for everything.
The parts that wrap on the head are best cut with the stretch being the part wrapping around the head. You can fit the visor any direction that will be a good use of your fabric as well as the top. The top will have some stretch no matter how you place it!! Thanks so much for your question and for watching! Cheers, Tori
Hello new to your videos and I love all the hats I have seen thus far… I do have a question will your patterns work well with other fabrics such as faux leathers or duck canvas or vinyl or even corks? Really look forward to a response!
Hi Pam ... any of the winter hats that have a fleece content are designed for fleece fabric. You could use cork on some of the visors but I am teaching patterns that can be easily taught and made on home equipment. I try to make it as easy as possible with excellent results. Once you master a pattern please experiment! I use vinyl, faux leather on visors for caps and canvas for the sun hats. What I use in the tutorial is what the pattern was designed to give good results with usually. Hope that helps.
Hi Donna...I will have them available Jan 3rd. Will send you a link when it's up. There will be enough fabric for two hats and a generous amount of the extra firm interfacing for making at least 4 visors.
Visit our website to download a free copy of the main pattern pieces that are curvy and complicated. Link is in the description under the video. Inspired by the need for extra protection from our very unpredictable Canadian Winters! Enjoy!
Check the page settings on your printer. If the setting is not on 'actual" the pattern will print about an inch smaller. This is the only reason that this happens. If you can email me I will try to walk you through printer settings. It is likely yours are set to "fit to page". My email is madcaphats@gmail.com
@@madcaphats I will look at the settings. It’s probably fit to page as a default. I thought though it measured correctly to 1” by the gauge line on the print out.
I am sorry Penny that this happened to you. It has happened about 5 times and each time it was the settings. We are changing the measure guide to make it larger so the difference will be more noticeable. 95% of an inch is not really noticeable. I am sending you something so check your email!
Thanks!
Little Yeti!!! You are our first Super Thanks and we send Super Thanks back to you x 1000!!! Thanks so much xo Tori
I am uncertain, which pattern piece are you calling the cuff? One is 3.5” wide called cap bottom the other is 2” labeled insert.
@@MsPenske Got your email, glad you got it sorted out!! Tori
Where do I get the pattern? Please

Comfort food for your ears! lol Julia! Tori
I’m very interested in the kits you mentioned in the video. Is there a way to be notified when they become available?

I made this hat, but it was too small. My head measured 21.5” so I selected the small size with small visor. Seems more child size than women’s
