changing the pronouns is certainly a performative choice - but kind of off with each cover version. the song is written so well that that it deserves better than to be changed for any gender's heart-throbbing hopeful's interpretation. it definitely deserves its own light - without being melodified. i hope this lad made a few pounds that day. it's a decent performance.
