Cheers to MANSCAPED for sponsoring today's video!

Once again the Khan is proven to be the best Primarch. This is how things should have happened:
Magnus: I can’t believe dad banned psykers.
Khan: Bro this is just a big song and dance to shut Leman and Morty up. Just do some minor shit and wait for this to blow over. You think dad, the most powerful psyker would actually ban psykers.

foresight in 40k isnt omniscience, when you use it you can get glimses of possible future events but just those events, everything in between is virtually unknown. Moreover in defense of big E he did tell magnus to not use warp powers aswell as that they where all aware that the warp was highly dangerous; he just didnt tell him of the chaos gods bc look at how easy they corrupted primarchs like fulgrim.

He should have formally allowed the use of the librarius (with all the safeguards put in place AND installed the chaplains) but not made it compulsory for every legion to have one.
Then taken Magnus and the Thousand Sons to Terra. Magnus was key to the Webway project so keeping him in the dark was dumb to begin with (context: he told Mortarion about the Webway project). He then a) would have been able to keep an eye on Magnus and b) likely would have spotted why the fleshchange was being kept at bay as well as the Thousand Son's familiars all being machinations of Tzeentch and been able to do something about it.

The emperor should have taken nikaea as a choice opportunity to explain the dangers of the warp and its 4 entities of great power and intellect. Explain that warp sorcery is different from warp powers and descends directly from those warp entities, and elucidate on his plans to protect mankind from the warp while mankind evolves into a psychic race. Tell magnus to chill on the sorcery and pursue runes as an chance to find the ancient root of human shamanistic power and create his own magic system.

Hawser stared up at the rune priest in quiet alarm. He could hear Aun Helwintr’s voice, but the priest’s lips were not moving.
‘The measure of your surprise, Ahmad Ibn Rustah,’ the rune priest murmured without using his mouth, ‘reflects the unconscious contempt you have for the Sixth Legion Astartes.’
      ‘Contempt? No-’
‘You cannot hide it. We are barbarians, arctic savages, gene-fixed and dressed up with war-tech, and sent off to do unseemly labour for our more cultured masters. It is a common belief.’
‘I never said that-’ Hawser protested.
‘Or even consciously thought it. But deep down inside you, there is a patronising sense of superiority. You are a civilised man, and you’ve come to study us, like a magos biologis observing some primitive tribe of throwbacks. We live like animals, and we follow shamans. And yet… Great Terra! Could it be that our shamans have real gifts? Genuine powers? Could it be that they are more than just bone-rattling, bead-jangling gothi, out of their heads on mushrooms, howling at the sky?’
      ‘Psionics,’ whispered Hawser.
‘Psionics,’ Aun Helwintr echoed, smiling. He used his real voice.
‘I had heard that some of the Legions actually had psyker contingents,’ said Hawser.
‘Most of them have,’ replied Helwintr.
‘But the occurrence is so very rare,’ Hawser said. ‘The mutation is a-’
‘The psyker mutation is a priceless asset to our species,’ said Helwintr. ‘Without it, we would be condemned to captivity on Terra. The Great Houses of the Navigators allow us to expand our reach. The astrotelepaths allow us to communicate over the gulfs. But caution must always be exercised. Control.’
      ‘Why?’
‘Because when you gaze out with your mind, you never know what will stare back.’

"Psykers are the only weapon against some of the things they fought."
Yeah, it just so happens those things are only able to exist in realspace because of psykers using their powers.
"The council of Nikea was a badly written plot line."
Maybe, if you completely ignore things like: the Webway project, the flesh change, Tzeentch taking an interest in Magnus and the Thousands Sons from the very beginning, warp demons attaching themselves to Thousand Sons as 'familiars', and basically all of the Thousand Sons lore from pre Heresy to Heresy then yes the counsil of Nikea was nothing but lazy writing with no real use or meaning.

Not to mention that Emperor techs are all Warpcrafts since he bans A.I tech tree development for humanity's reclaims of their technological advancements and flourishing both civilisations and martial prowess
Even his biomancy to creates Primarchs, Thunder Warriors and space marines, to Adeptus Custodes' training methods to build resistance to Chaos entities are all dependent on tampering to The Warp
Yet he play all pissed off about Magnus' enthusiasm to tap into powers of The Warp, all while not explaining anything to Magnus on how and why it could be detrimental if he gone too far, no paternal/parental guidances, no closer bondings with Magnus and further psychological damages inflicted to so many of his Primarchs from his inconsistent policing that it makes more Primarchs either became traitor, falls to Chaos or being disjointed even as loyalists
It's so disastrous in details that those few little details alone can make Imperium became more rationally driven to expand and have better relations with even better measure of resistance to (if not outright pushing the taints away) Chaos, it's so stupid and pathetic, Magnus could've become the remote holder of Golden Throne and he could become the new beacon for Terra while Emperor can do Webway projects and other counter-chaos measures way smoother with more loyalists ffs (oh not to mention that Emperor doesn't leave dating and archiving historical records better, it's all scribbled jumbles of sophist propaganda garbages, having terrible dating and recording of anything makes Imperium falls so hard, Servitors are so inefficient compared to glimpses of how tamed-A.I computers or even normal computers could've been in 40K current timeline, logistics disaster, no wonder current Guilliman got so frustrated and allows more of many heterodox stuffs akin to Cawl's antics and shenanigans to be more legalised under Imperium tech tree and psyker-growth enhancements)

The Emperor suspected that the Khan was going to betray him because he was actually supposed to do just that. The Emperor seemingly had some notion that the HH, was going to happen but had only a vague idea of when, why or how. The Khan was switched with Fulgrim by Cegorach with regard to where they were supposed to land and, by extension, which of them was more likely to turn Traitor.

12:51 I don’t think the outcome of the council of Namibia means it’s necessarily weak writing by the authors. Instead, I see it as another example of the folly of humanity as a whole. You could look at the council of Nokia as a meta-analysis of the human psyche and how the group, as a whole, often hurts itself in an attempt to please the loudest voice in the room, which often comes from the fewest in the room as well.
13 primarchs supported the use of psykers, with 3 of them creating the librarius for psykers to hone their skills and increase their efficiency in psychic warfare.
While only 5 others did not support psykers with 2 of them actively taking measures to oppress psyker activity because of their personal opinions and grudges towards one specific person getting in the way of what’s good for the group as a whole.
All of this is happening while the Emperor, who was too distracted with his own ambitions to take the time needed to understand the drama happening between his sons, just wanted to take the swiftest course of action so he could go back to focusing on his own project.
To me, this is a great example of what happens all the time in real life. A few, or sometimes VERY select few, people have a largely selfish motivation for taking action against something they don’t like in support of changing things to how they THINK things should be. You can see this directly with Russ’s hypocrisy that comes out during the trial while still using psykers in his legion, and it comes up again when he talks about how wrong he was to have supported banning psykers.
Morty on the other hand, is completely selfish through and through and he cared so little about the consequences of banning psykers. This is because his selfish motivations and personal hatred of psykers go against the betterment of the imperium. I’m sure Typhus was greatly upset by morty’s decision to ban psykers in his legion, which only amplified his love for Nurgle’s gifts.
With all that noise and activity getting stirred up by those few voices, the people with the power to make those changes, I.e. the Emperor, are not as deeply concerned about the issue at hand as the few are. So the Emperors ultimate failure from all of this is him not looking at the historical evidence of how effective his psyker forces were in the great crusade and instead, allowed pure subjective reasoning to be the ultimate factor in his decision making. If the emperor acted a little bit more pragmatic in the situation, he could have seen that sacrificing a critical force like psykers would not have been worth pleasing Russ and Morty and attempting to restrain magnus.
Meanwhile, on the opposite end, many primarchs who do support the use of psykers are not speaking out as loudly as their opponents, either because they may not be aware of how useful their psykers are, like Dorn, or they have personal grievances with Magnus and are willing to screw themselves over if that means Magnus gets what they think he deserves, looking at Corvus and Fulgrim with that one, and lastly, there are those that do understand their importance but they also prioritize the word of Law that comes from the Emperor’s mouth, like Sanguinius and Guilliman, rather than following what they believe is the right outcome, like Magnus and Khan.
Essentially, the division amongst those who support psykers, prevented them from creating a common ground for which they could unite to convince the emperor, along with the Emperors failure to focus on the issue at hand rather solely caring about his future plans that would have invalidated this entire trial as a circus instead of the outrageously backfired plan that it actually became, allowed the 5 primarchs, who had their own reasons for not wanting psykers but had enough of a common ground to form a united cause to ban psykers, was the reason why the council of Nike ended up the way it did.
I mean, that’s how I interpreted the outcome.

The issue is, the decision to ban the psykers was solely the Emperors and a sensible compromise was suggested. So it rapidly becomes just a failing of the Emperors. If they'd had the Primarchs vote on the subject, that would make more sense as a failing of humanity overall.

I mean, Magnus was supposed to be a key figure in the project to begin with. Makes sense you'd want him aware right?
