Born in NYC never took the FDNY test or civil service exam. In my lifetime I put ten years as a sergeant in a volly Dept and as a paid EMT. I was tough at 18 but don't think I was tough enough for FDNY.
I always have to catch up watching these episodes and I think they get better every week! I am a retired captain from the south but can imagine and picture every story as though I was standing seeing the scenarios discussed!!! Love it!
R.I.P....Timmy Stackpole, he used to tell me that he arranged a couple of beds or us at the burn center of course with a laugh...he just wanted to go to fires, that was it, incredible!
Dom Carino had lots of different plans for certain boxes,330 Hinsdale comes to mind,it was a borderline box with E231 and we drilled and drilled on it, sometimes late into the night, over the top no question, but what an inspiration, and I learned so much, when I became an mpo I remembered how he always sed to think outside the box.I hope he is doing well.
If anybody should write a Book. Or have one written about them,It's this guy right here. Kevin and the Loo are the best interviewers that the Fire Service ever saw.
Definitely agree with having the rescue medic assigned, but as long as the training and policy written is clearly spelled out! It must be very well operationally balanced!
This Is Awesome Chief. These stories will love on, on TH-cam. I feel like I work with you guys man. 😂🤗🇺🇸💪🏿 I tell ya what men. This Experience is Epic just listening to this. Thanks Men!!
If anything these podcast do is I hope it starts igniting fires of these new younger generation of firefighters to start transitioning back to tradition!!! I missed the traditional fire service!
There are a lot of good departments out there. FDNY hasn't cornered the market on firefighting, as good as they are. Boston, New Haven, Providence, Hartford to name a few are great departments.
The problem is for today's firefighters there is no balance when it comes to risks versus outcome! It is a different world in today's fire service and unfortunately it isn't a positive difference :(
Boyce was covering in L-157 & Butler paid a visit & he was no longer covering in truck - CAPT Jack & Butler had a history when Jack was a Lt. & Butler was a BC - Butler hated Italians - this is first hand info
Another home run. I swear FDNY has some of the biggest characters the job has ever seen. Larger than life.
What a chief.
Unbelievable how he is still on same mindset as you guys. Respect.
You guys are keeping the tradition alive and well thank you and lou good luck hunting this fall from a Maine deer chaser/former smoke eater
This series is epic! People will be watching these videos in 20 years.

He becomes Chief of Rescue Operations on 22 Sept 2009 - (Department Order No. 79 from 2009) / as an Acting DC (@1:00:40)
Regarding the firefighter that didn't make the grab but if he hadn't put 100% of PPE he may would have been fired for violating policy!
Great video
Definitely a lot more stressful from commander looking from the outside!
Hi guys, what year was chief in rescue 4 ? My uncle did close to 20 years in 4 back in 1977
One of the best would have been going to this old house as a captain. Wow

Yeah...and..
I can get you someone from the Houston Fire Department (HFD)!
