Professionally speaking, Amazing skills! Crazy body control! and the working environment seems super fun and cozy! Personally speaking... she is so pretty xDDD
I absolutely love the videos on this channel, but seeing it together with the finished animations is absolutely incredible. I would love to see more of this!
Great work! But as a professional animator, I couldn't help but notice that there's a decent amount of difference between the mocap footage and the final animation. I would love to see the cleanup and animation process represented in breakdowns like these. How much of the motion capture data is being cleaned vs being used for reference for the CG animators? It is clear that there is a significant step in the process between stage capture and final animation that we do not get to see much of in this video. I think that part of the pipeline would be great and educational to see for those who are truly interested in the craft. Cheers!
That's probably up to the animation studio and not something the mocap actors would have access to. These guys seem to run an independent mocap studio that isn't really involved in the animation process. If I had to bet, I'd say the animators use as much of the data as possible, as it's already there. They probably only change things if the director's vision changes or something else works better in the edit. Cleanup is standard practice as you probably know. No capture data is usable as it is. Also, they're probably filming these to get their facial expressions for reference.
@@roarsack503 They are probably indeed an independent studio, but just based on their youtube channel description, they're not simply a group of motion capture actors. This channel appears to represent a decently sized company. They even claim to have 150 animators with their studio, quite a large number even if we assume animator is just a generalization for all the digital artists in the pipeline. It's hard to say that they're not involved in the animation process with the way they describe themselves. There's no question that this is an entertaining video with talented performers. But like you mentioned, it is clear some of this is for reference shoots, and some of these motion capture performances are meant to undergo heavy cleanup. All that I'm saying, is that I would love to see the cleanup/animation process better represented, especially if this is a "process" video from an motion capture studio equipped with an animation department.
@@julian_teo Oh, ok. I didn't look at their profile. Still, could be that this channel is just something the mocap department do for themselves (and for promo) and doesn't really involve the rest of the company. In any case, that description is a bit confusing as it talks about 150 animators but also mainly mentions outsourcing and preparing of assets. Perhaps the rights to the assets and actual animation belong to the company commissioning their services (ie. the producer of the show/game) and therefore they can't show those details?
Raw mocaps won't give the final products. All of animations gonna be cleaned up and animated by animator once again. They just show you the final result after clean up. So i think they only use mocaps to capture big movements and then they animated those facial expressions by hands from the refs.
Absolutely beautiful, Sakana - you have a mesmerizing charm . You would be an amazing Hollywood actress - really captivating. Your crew are really talented too.
Just like others said, the live video maybe another take than what is recorded. It can also be that the animation is already refined. Raw mocap captures is not as smooth as how exactly the artist moves so they still need to do some post-processing before it is used on the animation render. Some motions are adjusted and some are even removed so it will not be a 1:1 match for most of the time.
As a motion capture animator, the answer is yes, animators always push the existing mocap to get more exaggerated posing, timing, silhouettes etc. However, she is SOOO good at give you great data to work from. She has definitely mastered moving like an animated character.
Mocap has been a thing for a long time now. I think it's weird that a person is still needed to perform pretty much all the motions. AI will likely change this before long, though.
Are you joking? Mocap is a relatively new technology and it's been so widely adopted because it helps capture all the human nuances that would be hard to come up with by just animating. Mocap isn't being used out of necessity, it's a choice aiming for a higher level of authenticity. AI is the exact opposite of what mocap is trying to achieve.
Excellent work from the duck.

What game/animation/movie/fiction is this?
The game is Honor of Kings but the animation only serves like a trailer video for the character named Dyadia.

What is the name of this game? =) I want to play.
Honor of kings

Great one! 🥰
The resuuuuuuult wow
i always wondered, is the animation altered in post? because the animation doesnt 1:1 match the movement
very well could be different takes and also yeah the mocap is to give direction and isn't always 1:1
They probably didn't use those exact ones, plus they aren't even in full suit for finger and face tracking
Maybe just to polish things up but only like 10% of it, also I believe there are some smoothing applied automatically to the mocap data
