- I love this song.
I discovered Travis Meadows' music quite recently.
He is a true wordsmith, writing stories and lyrics with sensitivity and sincerity. And he performs with equal sincerity.
With this particular song he handles a heartbreaking situation, but I like the way he ends it on a positive note "doing better than I thought I would" and "it's time for growing up and moving on."
His TH-cam channel contains videos where he just talks about life and things in general, becoming quite emotional on occasion.
He introduced me to a new tuning which I've used here.
It's CGCGCD, which is slightly insane.
If you look at my left hand fingers, they only play on the bottom two strings, the top four strings being played open all the time.
It's very effective I think.
So it's an open C chord, with the top string tuned to D, which makes it a C9.
I think it gives a nice jangly sound.
So as always, thanks for listening, I hope I covered it OK. 🙂🎸
Great Stuart
Poignant rendition and great performance. Thank you for sharing.
Herrlich. Dankeschön 🎶🎵♥️
Bitteschon my friend.
Thanks for listening and commenting 🙂 🎸
A beautiful song by one of my favorite songwriters, performed by one of my favorite performers. Win-win! Thank you.
❤️
Excelente, gracias por compartir tu talento
Always stunning!!! Thank you Sir 🤓🎶
Always wonderful and inspirational. Thank you, Stuart!
Beautiful. Thanks
I listened multiple times and it keeps going on. Always love to hear from you❤
Sir, why is it that every time I watch your amazing videos I am floored? You bring happy tears to this bearded man with Viking ancestry. Major respect to you, sir. And thank you also for helping me discover this song. I've been divorced seven years and moved on a while ago, but this is very descriptive of how the first few years were for me. I resonate with this song.
Thanks Joshy, that's quite a beard you've got going there! 🙂
Reminds me of ZZ Top 🙂.
Thank you for your kind words, glad to hear you're getting over what must have been a heartache. I guess I'm lucky because I haven't had that sort of trauma.
I do feel the emotion in this song. Travis Meadows is fairly new to me, his songs are so graphic and feel like the truth somehow.
Well thanks for listening and commenting, I hope the future is good for you. Stay positive 🙂🎸
Beautifully played my friend 👍😎
What a gorgeous cover! Absolutely beautiful and amazing! I keep playing it over and over again, just gets better and better
Thanks for the video, much appreciated.
love it, heartwarming
Awesome!
Happy Sunday Sir!
Beautiful song, thanks for sharing 🙂
Ah Gina, you found it 🙂.
I just love his lyrics and stories. I'm sure I'll do another of his before long. 🙂🎸
You're a gem Sir! 👊😎
Watching again tonight, I noticed the healthy plant! 😊
Haha, yes if you are the one who pointed out the ailing plant, thanks, I informed the head gardener (the wife) who gave it some attention 😃.
Thanks for listening again, much appreciated 🙂🎸
Thank a lot ❤
Well performed as always, love to hear your uploads! ❤
me hiciste llorar bro
Dear Mister Clifford!
Your music makes our day happier!
Thank you very much!
Here from Brazil!
PS: I'm going to record this one to listen to on my blue Beetle!
Thanks Brazil from England.
And thanks for listening and commenting 🙂 🎸
Very nicely performed Travis Meadows cover Stuart!!! Excellent vocal and acoustic.... interesting tuning my friend. Love your picking style! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.... Steve
Thanks Steve. Travis is so good isn't he?
Had great fun learning the new tuning. I tried without the capo to get that fabulous low C, but it was too low for my voice. Went up a fret at a time to the 3rd, which is where Travis plays it. Great song. Couldn't put it down.
Thanks for your kind comment. Have a great day 😊🎸
What a beautiful but sad song. Happy to see you again. Hope you had a fun vacation or as you say a fantastic holiday. Did you play in the snow? We got a little bit the Friday that you were on vacation. My dog didn't react to it like I thought she would. Around the house was a small patch of grass and that is where she went to the bathroom lol. When she finally walked out in it she slipped a few times because it had a layer of ice on it. Well last week the beaches in the gulf coast and up the eastern coast got a good bit of snow. I bet that was quite a site to see. I have a request. Layla by Eric Clapton. Not the Derek and the Domino's version. I heard him on the radio and thought Stuart would sound great doing this song. Sorry for the long post. Stay safe and keep on making the beautiful music 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Hi Beth. Yes we had a wonderful holiday thanks. Wall to wall blue skies and sunshine. Not a cloud in the sky. They had a dump of snow just before we arrived so the snowboarders had the best snow.
Here is a video of my grandkids (aged 6 and 9) made by the snowboard instructor 🙂.

Granny and grandpa had a lovely time enjoying the beautiful views, the good food and hot wine and beer.
Now we're back to windy old England 🙂.
Ah you know Eric C is my all time hero. My son gave me a Christmas present of 2 tickets to see Eric here in Nottingham in May. So he and I are going together.
I dare say he'll be doing Layla, and I agree with you his unplugged version is the best! I'll see if I can make that work although copying the Great Man is quite a challenge 😃.
Glad you like my Travis Meadows cover. I'm not sure where he comes from in the US but he's a great character. I love his lyrics and stories.
Anyway my wife and I are off shortly for our regular Monday morning walk with a friend. It's actually sunny at the moment so should be good.
See you soon 😊 🎸
@stuartclifford8795 wow that sounds like a great concert. I love to go to music festivals in the springtime. Hope you have lots of fun
Thank you.
so god
👍🏻
I love how you record your videos. Just you and the camera. Gives an honest sound and atmosphere and I feel a bit like sitting there in your living room.
Thanks Michael. Yes there is the temptation to go more technical and add Mikes and plug things in, but I'm resisting it.
I just love sitting down, learning and playing. I never expected this level of response. It's so rewarding for me. So I'll just carry on as I am. 🙂
Thanks for listening and commenting it means a lot 🙂🎸
@@stuartclifford8795 I understand the temptation. It would sound more professional. But that's why I like yours. I actually hear you and your guitar without any effects. I know it's one take. Please keep resisting 😉
We love our grandpa.....
❤️
Nailed it again Stuart. Great version 👏
Thanks matey. I just replied to your beloved, saying I expect I'll do another of his before long.
Thanks for listening, see you soon 😊🎸
Hiya Stuart! Another lovely song and performance and the tuning sounds great 👏😌 I always enjoy your songs as you know 😉✌
Thanks Dom. Travis is a very interesting character who's had some dark moments in his life. But his lyrics are so poetic and meaningful. And he introduced me to that wierd tuning 🙂.
Thanks again. Hope you guys are OK 🙂❤️🎸
Better alone than in bad company
Hahaha that's a good one 👍
Thank you.
