Wow! This game is becoming so interestingly realistic and engaging! I can’t wait for tower fall to come out, and everything is shaping up in such an amazing way! I actually was wondering about a lot of these, and I’m really glad you answered them! Keep up the great work!
The WolfQuest team is the best, most thoughtful group of game developers. It's truly something special to have been part of this game back in 2007, back when I would play this game everyday with my friend from Middle School and High School, and to see it come back and get even better!!! To see how much more complex and detailed every aspect of the game has gotten... Just wow! So proud of you guys! And so thankful for all the love that you put into this game! The communication and respect for the player community has really been unparalleled. Thank you for all the amazing years of WolfQuest this far and going forward!!!
I'm glad you guys are adamant about the dominance myth not being a thing. I get pretty annoyed by people thinking dogs and wolves work on dominance- especially dog "trainers" that use that ' dominance ' method.. It can be very harmful to misunderstand your fuzzy friends and cohabitants
Dominance is a thing, even in wild wolves, but people tend to misunderstand and hyperfocus on it, forgetting that submission and reconciliation are just as important and that one cannot exist without the other (let alone that none of those things have any bearing on dog behaviour modification). I definitely agree with your comment and I’m so glad the team isn’t going to add anything that may reinforce the deeply engrained misunderstandings people have about it.
the thing is that yellowstone wolves on rare occasions actually have dominance challenges. yellowstone wolves are unique with the fact that groups of strangers sometimes get together
He sure is! (We wish there were better pictures of those Founders. They are tough to find!) We did include his mate 9F (and her first mate 10M) in the Yellowstone Coat DLC.
1091F is a gorgeous, blonde colored wolf which sadly passed in 2018. I can't link it unfortunately, but there's a fantastic profile shot of her that shows off her almost honey coloration and the markings along her back. Her coat is absolutely gorgeous and I think she'd make a fantastic addition to the game in a DLC!
@@huhhuh9598 To my knowledge the base coats are not based on a particular wolf. The only ones modeled after wolves prior to the DLC were the Lamar Canyon and Blacktail Plateau coats. There is a tawny coat in the game, however it's much darker and the markings are different.
Here is my question for the devblog: Will new howls be implemented into the game? The current NPC wolves all sound so beautiful so I was curious if those howls would be made available to players anytime in the future.
My nominations: Wolf 8 (great wolf and there are a couple pictures of him) Wolf 2 (for 7) Wolf 103 or Wolf 105 (some of my favorites) Wolf 253 (I absolutely love this wolf so please and there are a lot of pictures of 253) Wolf 480 (a wolf who traveled with 302 and was in the Druid pack with him) White Wapiti Wolf/The White Lady’s daughter (I’m very sad about her likely death, also a lot of pictures of her) Wolf 472 (‘06’s mother, there are also a few pictures of her) Wolf 907 (she was the alpha of the only wolf pack I’ve ever actually seen) Maybe Wolf 40? Also maybe add a feature where your wolf’s coat will change and get lighter as it gets older? And have sibling wolves disperse together, then if you play as them there can be pack drama :D (Also there are sometimes sibling hierarchy in wolf packs)
This is so cool! I can’t wait for the rest of the wolf quest saga to come out! I’ve waited so long and now it’s finally coming along! Y’all are amazing keep up the good work
7:54 YOOOOO THATS MY SCREENSHOT!! thanks for adding it in there it made me so happy lol this was a really cool video, it was really interesting and it made me even more excited for the upcoming features! I appreciate how you engage with your community a lot, and i cannot wait to see what is next for this epic game
OMG now I’m even more excited for tower fall. My parents said they would get it when it comes out and now I just can’t wait. But I understand it takes a while for games to come out sometimes so I’m going to be patient and wait. I absolutely love wolves because they’re my favorite animal, that’s why I love WolfQuest so much it’s so realistic and such a good game! Better than any game I’ve ever played!!!! The other games I played are good but none can top WolfQuest everybody working on the game did such a good job! And that’s why I’m so happy that tower fall is coming out!!!!!!! And everyone stay safe.
I always have wanted 969F in the game. They are a very special wolf to me being one of the few wolves that I have ever saw personally. Nature is nature and I know death is part of it but I have to admit when she died I cried. She has defined so much of my life and how I want to live it now just seeing her sitting for an hour or so. Also the new map being hinted my guess is hellroaring/blacktail plateau
Ooohhh!! wolf coat recommendations? Finally, my hours watching wolf documentaries have not gone to waste! Haha Heres a couple suggestions: White Female: She is the oldest wolf in Yellowstone rn, it'd be nice to celebrate that! 1276F: I just think the coat is pretty lol 1229F: Same as above Matsi: Not a Yellowstone wolf(But if we're just using coats, then I don't think that should be a big deal), but from the documentary on Idaho's Sawtooth pack! I feel like he and his pack deserve some love, too Amani: Same as Matsi Chemukh: Same as Matsi Wyakin: Same as Matsi Motomo: Same as Matsi I'm sure I'll think of more, so I'll keep replying to this comment until I have them all, haha
I love this team so much, the way they not only listen to the community but also respond to it, does not happen as often it sounds by many companies. This one is by far, untouched.
@@WolfQuestGame Growing up I read a book called ‘Coyote the Wonder Wolf’ by Joseph Lippincot and the videos I’ve seen of the cattle ranch immediately take me back to that book. It’s about a coyote that gets misplaced in the east and her impact on the environment told from her perspective. Very similar to white fang in writing. If anyone here has never heard of it I suggest they give it a look. I’ve never played the original wolfquest but the cattle ranch has been popping up constantly on me and my friends TH-cam feed, so it’s getting renewed interest and because of that I would heavily consider reintroducing it to wq anniversary
I'm so excited for the new updates! I hope you implement a 'sandbox' mode feature sometime in the future as well. I know this has been posted as a discussion on the Steam forums, but I'd really like to have the chance to explore Slough Creek, Tower Falls and Amethyst Mountain without worrying about pack territories or the pups dying on me. I'm aware you're looking for realism in the game but it would be a nice feature to have for those looking to explore the maps.
I agree! There are parts of the maps I have never seen because they are too deep in stranger territory and I feel like those regions would deserve to be recognized too!
This is something my friends and I have discussed as well. Sometimes we just wanna go to the farthest corners of the maps and roleplay, but always end up getting surrounded by stranger wolves and have to flee the scene
Yeah I was just thinking that. I don’t think it would ever be possible to have them fully open world and linked together (since the places aren’t close to each other in real life) but like, maybe you could run up to the edge of the map and it asks you “would you like to travel to …….” So you could just have a wolf and explore wherever you want whenever you want
I enjoy multiplayer so much - but as an adult that grew up on the OG game it's so crazy to realize how many kids and teens are still finding and loving this game, too! Makes me so happy, but also protective of the children I come across in multiplayer. Gotta make sure everything stays safe for them while on the server!
I've seen a few people talking about Romeo and OR-7 for the coat DLC, so I'm just putting this out there to encourage that idea. I really wanted to recommend some other wolves, mostly "criminal wolves" (Custer Wolf, Hexham Wolf, Three Toes of Harding County), but these wolves lived and died in the early 20th century, so their photos are in B&W. And then there's Lobo, which, as far as I'm concerned, he's only ilustrated and there's no photos of him. Waitwaitwait, I just thought of someone else. As far as I'm concerned, Little T isn't in the current DLC. She's mentioned in Small Dot's description, but that's about it. I mean, if her MATE is in WQ, why can't she be in WQ?
Small Dot and Little T are mates, not siblings! They're the current breeding pair of the Lamar Canyon pack. I agree, though, I'd love a Little T coat!!!
@@solar-mutt7795 Ohhhh, I think I mistook Small Dot with another wolf named Dot, which actually was Spitfire's offspring. That said, I can't find any photos of this so called "Dot", idk if you've seen any?
For the coat's DLC, it would be great if you added OR-7. He deserves some attention, and he's such a cool wolf. Read a book about him and dang it was an amazing book! I'm overly excited to see what this game will come to next!
@@animal_lover7159 Yes! i love that book. I recently finished it and it’s the perfect story. I’m addicted now, i want to reread it over and over. Tragic but sweet
@@audrey.70 Hold on, I have that book. Never read it, looked like a kids book about a random wolf. Is it fr a tragic story about that wolf? No offense.
i remember when i was just looking at the forums for this game, looking at the towerfall and thinking "thats gonna take so long!", look at how far its gone! I can't believe that you guys have gone this far. You guys have been working so hard and this game is amazing, thank you for keeping up the hard work.
Someone else mentioned OR-7 (nicknamed Journey) which I think would be a great addition, along with another wolf similar to him who was deemed “Echo”, the Grand Canyon wolf. She traveled from the Rockies to the Grand Canyon. The first gray wolf to the Grand Canyon since 1940, though unfortunately was shot dead right before the New Year (December 28, 2014). She traveled 750 miles. edit: Grammatical mistake. She was not the first wolf to the Rockies in decades!
Adding onto this, would love to see just some generally traditional coats, namely white wolves with the standard gray ticking. We have some of those already, but would love to see more.
dunno what happened to my last comment, but: - White Female from wapiti is cute, too - nice little dark spot on the tail! - 1005F is nice, though there's only a distance shot of her. - 1229F could be an easy luna recolor!
It’s so nice to hear how you guys just…..stopped but continued and tried to please US the PLAYERS and tried to please YOU so that we are ALL pleased with the game and how you guys just…….,you guys just try so hard, and I appreaciate it,I play both wolfquest versions, personally I like wolfquest 3 rather then 2.7 but I like both games and when I can go home, the first thing I will do as soon as possible is play wolfquest, and just appreaciate the work you all did, keep up the good work I hope you get lots of support and,if anyone tries to make you feel like you guys are not doing good enough work, don’t listen, try harder but don’t push yourself beyond your limits, but keep trying 👍🏻
thank you wolfquest dev team for the amazing game. i appreciate the dev videos, as well; having insight about the game allows me to acknowledge how much work has been put into the game, and for me to respect it so much more when i see the world within it. so much thought has been put into this and it shows. thank you again!
since I was able to buy WolfQuest 3 I feel that an old side, the feelings of my childhood come back. Nostalgia and how this game has progressed makes me happy ...
i been thinking, if you guys could add more mechanics for wild animals, since they are like not alive sometimes, this could be like a part 2 of the natural mechanic video, making cougars hunt mule deer, stalking them, grizzly bears eat grass and fish, wolves could howl while walking or running, and coyote reanimation. coyotes really need to be reanimated, they are extremely stiff. and in general more animal interactions
We agree it would be amazing for all the other animals to have fuller lives too but we have to prioritize the wolves and what they are most likely to experience. We have a long wish list and hope we can keep improving the game for a long time into the future. We appreciate how much people want it to grow. :D
I truly don’t know what to say, I mean really, this game has come so far, it brings people together, it show us the world in wolves’ eyes, it makes a world of wonders and amazements no one could have imagined. This game is one of my favourites things ever, I might be having a bad day and turn it on, only to make me smile within seconds. Everyone who has (or is) worked on this game is amazing and really deserves all the appreciation that we, as the community can give and show.
About the packs, i have some ideas: - We are only allowed to have 34~38 wolves inside the pack. - the personality of the puppies will influence their decisions on staying on the pack or not. - the social bar of the pack will help the players to keep the wolves inside of It, but the larger pack, means difficult way to keep track of every pup of yours.
Oh wow!! So much to unpack here with the Lost River Forest sign and a little nod for a new map possibly coming in the future. So much love to you guys for making this special game for us.
As the dominant breeding female ("alpha female"), O-Six was one of the most visible and photographed wolves in Yellowstone, and was described a "rock star." After several years, O-Six was captured, fitted with a radio tracking collar and released, gaining the collar number 832F.LINK:daveshumway-wolf06-feature_680(1).jpg
I love that you guys interact with your community so much! Thank you for answering some of the communities questions! The map you are planning on adding later on sounds beautiful, I love areas with tons of mountains, valleys, rivers, etc. Keep up the great work guys!!
I have quite the list of update ideas so I thought I'd share a few. * Complete Heterochromia, a mutation in genes where one eye is a different color than the other * Bison spawning in small herds so they can still be added into the game * Stray dogs in Lost River that were left to fend for themselves * If the mate of a wolf dies you can persuade them to be your mate and take over the Pack * Customizable scars and more tears in the ear * Your wolf can be half blind and half of the screen will be either black or blurry making gameplay harder
Ah, that spark of joy when you see there is a new Wolf Quest video posted and you immediately drop everything to watch it! Edit: Also I would love to see new "Life is Rough" coats. Any chance more of those will be added?
I have another question! With the saga going the direction you guys have shown/hinted at, I’m guessing your pups can eventually find mates of their own, does this mean you won’t be able to play as that pup, or will you just ignore the mate they got in the other game. Or, will the mate they chose transfer when you decide to play as them? I’m really interested to see how things will play out in the new saga with yearlings and such!!
I can’t wait for the Wolf Quest Saga to continue! It’s like your a mother/father watching your children grow up and mature and be independent. Hands down to the Wolf Quest devs. ❤️
It always makes my day to get on my computer and see that WolfQuest has uploaded a video :) Thank you for answering all these questions that people have been asking! And one question, how did you make your WolfQuest Logo? Keep up the great work WolfQuest!
OMG...I would LOVE coats of wolves 2 and 8, the Crystal Creek brothers that went on to become alpha males of the Leopold and Rose Creek packs! I believe some photos are in Rick McIntyre's Rise of Wolf 8, though they aren't very close up.
@@WolfQuestGame I'd also love a coat of some more Lamar Canyon wolves, like Little T (Spitfire's daughter and current breeding female) and some of Spitfire's later-in-life mates, like Twin/992M and 949M. Where can I email some photos I have saved of the latter two?
I can’t describe how much joy this fills me with. Silly as it sounds, the original game really shaped my childhood- me and my friend must have sunk thousands of hours in it. Were both in our 20’s now, but still equally as enthusiastic about following all the progress you guys make
Something I've always thought would be cool would be CWD in deer that you hunt. I've always thought they would not even be scared of you since thats one of the stages of the disease. I also imagined they would have low health with a green health bar, indicating they're sick. The green health bar can also maybe go for your pups.
This game has grown so much and I'm so excited to see it get bigger and bigger 💕 The Saga and new maps are gonna add so much more to do and I can't wait!!
What I think would be an amazing addition (after you finish the saga, of course) is that as a two year old dispersal you could be able to join some of the other packs, if you showed consistent submission. This could be a super fun, especially if you could climb the ranks. Just a suggestion though 😊
Realistically, wolves won't do that very often. Only really in cases where one of the breeding wolves passed away somehow, and the surviving breeder is looking for a new mate. Rarely do stranger wolves get that opportunity otherwise. In most cases, they will either get driven out or killed.
@@Bonniethebunny From what I know, if one wolf leaves their home pack and makes a new pack, sometimes one of their former pack mates (usually a sibling) will go and join them. For example, Wolf 9 and some wolves in the Rose Creek Pack.
Its amazing to see how far wolfquest has come thank you for not just stopping the development of wolfquest after 2.7 this has turned into a wonderful game 2.7 was great but to see how far wolfquest has come from that
I think one of my favorite bugs early on was when ungulates (Particularly thinking of elk) would turn invisible once you got close enough to them, but their antlers wouldn't. Resulting in your wolf biting down on thin air, chasing after floating antlers. It's long since been fixed, but I remember having to report that bug with a laugh. (Sadly, something kind of rare as most are a little annoying at times or get in the way of gameplay. :c Always love a good laughable bug, though.) I also know I brought this up in the past, but I really think for a quality-of-life improvement that the older your wolf gets, the greyer fur they should obtain in varying stages. It'd be nice to actually see the age on our wolves and I remember someone on the staff responding saying it'd be a great idea, although a little complex. I just hope one day that perhaps it'd get added into the game, as a nice little visual.
Tell you what folks, if you all could make the territory gameplay work on PVP server, that would be such a cool gameplay feature to work. With all the "base building" games like V-Rising, having a pack/territory cultivation simulation that involves players breeding and adding "NPC wolves" to the territory that will then spread out in manners similar to how the single player territory management worked would just be one of the most interesting PVP experiences I have played in a while Thematically speaking. Please don't dismiss that idea for future. Cause when you all finally finish the single player experience, it would be such a cool thing to do to bring the wolf simulator formula to a competative platform :D Keep up the good work guys, I just started really playing this yesterday, and its just such a refreshing fun game.
These videos make me even more excited for what's to come. I already love passively playing after a day of hospital work because it's so relaxing to just explore and admittedly, one of my gripes was that you couldn't do that much in Slough Creek due to the pups and if they passed away, you'd be kicked out. Hearing this will change has me SO excited!
Question, how will the game decide what pups that are older will leave on their own? And when or if they do, in the family tree, will there be something that says they left the pack? And will we still be able to play as that pup?
A little late to this video, but for the multiplayer thing (I know you guys are probably considering this) there could maybe we a game mode for PvP or “Pack mode”. And maybe because of the teleporting problem, two or more packs (Perhaps the number of groups can be decided when creating the server) can choose a den or a “base” for their members to teleport back to when needing sleep but in territory. And maybe each pack can have their own color of territory to keep confusion at bay. Sounds like A LOT of work, but it’d be cool to have released later.
One of my suggestions is OR-7/Journey. A gray male wolf who traveled far from his natal pack back in 2011, he was the first confirmed wild wolf in western Oregon since 1947 and also being the first in California since 1924. Wiki Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OR-7 And since I got two might as well include the second one in as well Slavc, a wolf with the species of Canis lupus, and electronically tracked by University of Ljubljana's Biology department between July 2011 and August 2012. Wiki Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavc And yeah I'm very late to suggest these but, now or never.
Idea The idea: when You finish getting the pup(s) to 20 Pounds when you want to play as that pup it shows you the personalities of that pup ( it’s just I can’t seem to find out my pup(s) personality )
Yeah, and how are those of us with millions of wolves supposed to remember every single one's personality? Still I kind of get why they don't, since when you play as the wolf it doesn't really matter as you could play them cautious or bold. Though knowing that for the pups and mates honestly even could help for those of us trying to do "genetic experiment" runs in the game.
Another question. How would commanding multiple wolves at a time work? Would there be more emotes that tell them to do different things, would you be having to look at the specific wolf to make it do something? Will you have to set up schedules for patrolling the territory? I’ve been thinking about Tower fall a lot lately, and how gameplay Will work intrigues me.
No, at this point we are very happy that our artist Steve Adamson is available to make more. This allows consistency and he really knows the coats and process.
Eeek! I'm so excited! A lot of these questions I just figured out, that I also was wondering! This helped me a lot! Thanks! I'm also so excited for Tower Fall! I know how much work WolfQuest puts into this game, and I really appreciate it! Thank you, and keep up the good work ! :D
I have a question: In the Future, would we get more interactions with our pups and mate i feel as though we could have more interactions between mates and especially pups watching them stumbling over the yearlings and they get agitated or playing with their siblings
Hello! been a serious fan of yours for as long as I can remember, I haven't known of wolfquest since 2007 (because I was born in 2006) but I've been playing wolfquest for 5 years maybe six? quite honestly the progress you've made over the course of years on this game in mind blowing! and I can't wait to see what the team brings to the table next. I have some suggestions, though only some of the wolves originate from yellowstone, mostly because you pretty much got all the famous wolves we can list! but these are just some neat wolves in history or random ones in general that are nice to know about all the same. -Wolf coat suggestions- Romeo - Romeo was an Alexander Archipelago wolf (Canis lupus ligoni, a type of gray wolf) who lived around Mendenhall Glacier between 2003 and 2009. He interacted more or less successfully with locals, tourists, cross-country skiers, and their dogs for six years up until he was killed by poachers Park Myers III and Jeff Peacock. OR-7 - also known as Journey, was a male gray wolf that was electronically tracked as he migrated from the Wallowa Mountains in the northeastern corner of the U.S. state of Oregon to the southern Cascade Range. After the wolf dispersed from his natal pack in 2011, he wandered generally southwest for more than 1,000 miles (1,600 km) through Oregon and northern California. He was the first confirmed wild wolf in western Oregon since 1947 and the first in California since 1924. 1276F from Junction Butte Pack - a truck hit and killed a bison. The rangers moved it because it was too close to the road. This Wolf was confused because the bison was no longer there. Proceeding to pace back and forth.
Id be so interested in an in-depth look at what goes into making a game as complex as wolfquest! Warts and all. Personally, i Love Love LOVE seeing what goes on behind the scenes and looking at how things in the game work. If you all ever have time to do that, id watch ASAP!
Oh I can’t heckin wait for the saga release.. I can’t wait to be able continue my stories instead of just ending at late summer and restarting slough creek.🥺🥺💕💕
I agree, i have a 7 almost 8 year old wolf and it breaks my heart every time leaving at the end of summer. She’s lost 1 mate and 3 pups over 5 litters so far, each pup was lost to sickness so maybe it’s time to bring up genetics in the line. Her original mate was my favorite mate ever, he was a big sweet pretty coated wolf, definitely going in my hall of fame. His name was Aero and i actually cried when i lost him, he loved my girl Ebony and their pups with everything he had, saved multiple pups and never failed to snuggle his mate. Ebony’s new mate, Blitz, is wonderful as well, he cuddles her and his pups all the time; he is a large beautiful wolf and i love him very much however he’ll never replace what i lost with Aero
@@audrey.70 yeah ik how you feel i have a wolf named coyote he's allmost 8 years old he's had 2 mates die right before his eyes and lost 2 pups to sickness and his 3rd mate is allright she just hangs around the den and marks whenever I'm away but his first 2 were so sweet and had risked diving after a preditor to ensure survival of the pack until there was a miscalculated charge and died and my coyote has allso risked himself over more than 10 times most of them he hangs on by a breath and I had allso cried when they died and I just hope he has a peaceful death with his family.
I have a question, why can we carry moose calves indefinitely but we loose stamina when carrying a pup? Also I love the game and it would be cool to have the limpy leg again
@@WolfQuestGame Pardon reply here but lately I haven't seen the carried pups being much squirmy, only once and that was when they were quite hungry enough that they didnt want carried. Since then though haven't seen the wiggly worm pups when carried, even while fairly hungry.
@@lionguardlionking9996 The pups don't physically squirm or have a squirm animation (at least in my experience?), it's just implied because your stamina drains until you're forced to put them down.
Thank you for saying wolves are family units! The Alpha rankings are false unless a bunch of random unrelated wolves in captivity formed a pack and even then, even the creator of the theory debunked it himself! Keep up the great work wolf quest!
Thanks, most of my questions were answered but I have 1 question and 1 future saga suggestion, Question- in the saga if any of your pups don't disperse at the age of 2 and disperse when they are a year or two older if you start a new game with that pup would they be the age they dispersed from the pack? Or be the age of 2? , Suggestion- when your pups disperse some may leave and be alone and the others may disperse in groups., and you may smell and or see your pups around the map and chase them off your territory or leave them be,Have a nice day-night I hope you see this.
We are working on how all this will work in the game. It will never be exactly as real life but we always try to portray things as close as we can given the constraints.
I'm curious if, for Slough Creek multiplayer specifically, there might be a wider variety of territory configurations in the future? It'd be really nice to get the chance to explore the outer ranges of the map without worrying so much about rival pack pushback! As for coats, I'd love to see 1118F (Mollie's), 1276F (Junction Butte), 925M "Big Gray" (Lamar Canyon) or 472F (Druid, daughter to 21M and 40F)! A huge thank you to the team for making a childhood dream come true, you guys are awesome! EDIT: It just occurred to me that 925M is already an available coat. I forgot he was under Lamar Canyon Pack!
I have a question that you HAVE answered before- but I am wondering now if since the announcement of 'The Saga' if the answer will be different. With the wolves story now being more linear, and not in separate parts as it was before- will the number labels on the pups increase as you have more? For example if my wolf and their mate have three pups in their first litter; 2F, 2M, and 3M. Will the next litter continue from that point like 3F, 4M, 5M, 4F, etc? Thanks- and as always, the game looks stunning and I am so excited to see where it will go.
i honestly would love an explore mode or something of the sort that puts progress on hold til you switch it back and allows you to just roam a bit and enjoy exploring all the detail of the map without worrying about your pups or territory upkeep. it might not be the most realistic thing but i'd love to be able to explore the slough creek map without the stressors of territory and pup status, especially once you reach endless summer. its so cool watching these update videos and seeing just how far this game is coming along, so much has changed since i played the original as a kid, it's really wonderful to see
I would love to see Wolf 8 be added as a wolf coat! He was the adoptive father of Wolf 21. Rick Macintyre wrote a book about 8, "The Rise of Wolf 8," and that book singlehandedly made me love him and the Yellowstone wolves all the more. He had such a unique personality, and would be a fantastic addition to the DLC lineup, especially since 21 wouldn't have been who he was without 8. Thanks for all your hard work on such a beautiful and inspiring game. I've been a fan since I was a kid, and keep playing it even now. Wolf Quest AE has been such a dream come true!
@@WolfQuestGame That's so unfortunate! Still, even if there wasn't a coat for him, I'd love to see something referencing him in game. Like an achievement that you get for adopting pups, or for getting a new mate who has a similar personality and raising to 8. Not exact, but similar.
This game really is beautiful, and so realistic and amazing. I do have another question. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry! I've ask this a billion times but, when our pups go to find mates, will we be able to pick some of their siblings to go with them?
Loving everything! But the number one thing I really would like to see in this game is PVP (player vs player and pack vs pack haha) even if it's something put in after Saga is complete. It would add a whole new dynamic to the game not currently there and broaden the replayability even further.
Only issues I can see with this is internet connections as not everyone has the same greatest internet. And the group one, how to balance it so one pack is not outnumbered or overpowered.
They explained in the video why that is a feature on the backburner as they said. They are well aware that some people will find exploits, and use them against others. It would take a lot of work to eliminate most of the potential exploits, as well as new ones that people manage to find. It's still something they're considering, but they still have to consider all other aspects of it in order for it to be genuinely fun.
@@Bonniethebunny Hello! I am well aware and by no means confused or questioning what was said in the video. I only expressed that I hope to see it in the game as the future rolls on. :)
Oh! I'd love to see more coats! I've seen on other comments about some original coats and I think it would be a great idea, but if is not possible, here are some Yellowstone ideas: 1005F from Carnelian Creek, 1201F from Wapiti Lake, 1047M from Junction Butte, 1091F / Mouse from Wapiti Lake, 821F from 8 Mile, 910M from Cinnabar, 949M from Lamar Canyon, 993M from Lamar Canyon, 911M from Junction Butte, 1118F from Miscellaneous. I can't remember if some of them are already included. I really love this game!!
Seeing some more Saga questions answered gives me so much excitement and hope for the future of WQ! Can’t wait to see what else the team has to offer over the next years
It was awesome to see you guys answering all of those questions regarding the game, a couple questions I would have would be: with the fact that many of Yellowstone’s large mammals are already in the game like Bison, Elk, Moose, Mule Deer, Grizzly Bears, Mountain Lions, and of course Gray wolves as the playables, with Bighorn Sheep also getting a mention, are there plans to add Pronghorn and Black Bears? If the game included Bighorn Sheep, Pronghorn, and Black Bears the game would feel pretty complete as far as large animal diversity goes, with the only animals left to consider being smaller animals. Also another question: have you guys considered expanding the map to encompass all of Yellowstone National Park from each corner? If so it would add great diversity to the map and it would provide a huge space for players to roam, and even expanding the map to include Grand Teton National Park would be a nice addition too, especially Yellowstone and Grand Teton are so close to each other, and players could get a beautiful vista of the Grand Teton mountain range, also have you guys considered adding more playable animals? I personally think Grizzly Bears, Mountain Lions, Bison, Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Pronghorn, Beavers, and Bald Eagles would be the most interesting playables to consider.
I'm just going to say this I think you guys are doing amazing on this I remember playing the old wolf quest on my ipad then in 2020 or 2021 I heard about wolf quest anniversaries I been playing it for almost a year maybe but I have a lot of fun playing it can't wait what you guys add next
I'm curious...like you said if all of the pups die the game isn't lost. I'm so glad about that!!! It's much more realistic especially with this whole saga. But will we still be able to age up? If so will we be able to take any perks? Or will aging still be synonymous with your successful number of litters?
@@WolfQuestGame AWESOME! I know I ask a million questions a minute, and I really appreciate replies, thank you so much...you guys are the best devs ever.
I have finally gotten internet and a computer good enough to run this game and it's so amazing. I'm constantly find neat little things in every playthrough. I love playing on accurate and just making it as realistic as possible. The game looks awesome and I'm so excited for the the saga to be released!
A few interesting wolves I would love to see in WolfQuest: Wapiti White Alpha Female - „Daughter of the White Lady“ 1091F Mouse - „A cute female who loves to hunt mice.“ 1273M - „A really cheeky but beautiful wolf.“ 870F - „A beautiful but lonely female.“ Little T - „Lamar Canyon Pack Alpha Female“ I don't think TH-cam allows links but I can mail you some with good pictures of the wolves if you want.
I do have another question I have been thinking about though. Say you had a wolf who had pups and brought them to the rendezvous site and finished raising them. Then you decide to play as one of those pups and make them an adult and they start a pack and have pups of their own. But what would happen when tower fall comes out and you can actually finish raising your pups to adult hood but the pup that you had already grown up dies in tower fall? How would that work?
Will other wolf packs be able to get their own den and pups? I think it would make sense because they come and attack our pups I think it would make sense if we could do the same thing.
The devs have thought about this, but the answer is a no for a couple reasons. 1. The player wolf's pack is a lot smaller than the other packs and has pups every year. Packs that have pups do not generally raid other packs. 2. An NPC wolf generally will only kill a pup or two before the player and/or their mate chases them off. However, a player wolf is likely to be a lot more determined, enough to kill the entire litter. The devs just don't feel that's appropriate.
Will you guys be changing the lost river map to allow us _into_ the houses? Ive always been disappointed to be met with an invisible barrier on the porches, and I think it would be cool to explore the houses and see how it was left when the humans abandoned it. It could also give us the option to make dens in the houses, which would be pretty awesome!
Wow! This game is becoming so interestingly realistic and engaging! I can’t wait for tower fall to come out, and everything is shaping up in such an amazing way! I actually was wondering about a lot of these, and I’m really glad you answered them! Keep up the great work!
Yeeeaaaaa!
Thank you so much!
@@bimaetorquem7027 same!
couldn't agree more~
I'm glad you guys are adamant about the dominance myth not being a thing. I get pretty annoyed by people thinking dogs and wolves work on dominance- especially dog "trainers" that use that ' dominance ' method.. It can be very harmful to misunderstand your fuzzy friends and cohabitants
THIS 🙏
Dominance is a thing, even in wild wolves, but people tend to misunderstand and hyperfocus on it, forgetting that submission and reconciliation are just as important and that one cannot exist without the other (let alone that none of those things have any bearing on dog behaviour modification). I definitely agree with your comment and I’m so glad the team isn’t going to add anything that may reinforce the deeply engrained misunderstandings people have about it.
I feel it is good for rp packs (not fully realistic ones) but I don't like how people think its real real.
the thing is that yellowstone wolves on rare occasions actually have dominance challenges. yellowstone wolves are unique with the fact that groups of strangers sometimes get together
Don’t siblings establish dominance hierarchies very early on as pups?
Always a great afternoon when WolfQuest uploads
Yeeeeeee!
Omg so true tbh.. i love it when wolfquest exists..
True, very happy whenever Wolfquest posts. This game is very underrated
Always the highlight of my day! Um, am I too addicted to this game?
@@lemonshobbies Nope, your not the only one!
Perhaps a coat of Wolf 8? Personally I can’t find a good picture of him but he is certainly an interesting wolf.
He sure is! (We wish there were better pictures of those Founders. They are tough to find!) We did include his mate 9F (and her first mate 10M) in the Yellowstone Coat DLC.
I read Rick McIntyre’s book about Wolf 8, I agree lol
1091F is a gorgeous, blonde colored wolf which sadly passed in 2018. I can't link it unfortunately, but there's a fantastic profile shot of her that shows off her almost honey coloration and the markings along her back. Her coat is absolutely gorgeous and I think she'd make a fantastic addition to the game in a DLC!
I think her coat is already in the game as a base coat-
@@huhhuh9598 To my knowledge the base coats are not based on a particular wolf. The only ones modeled after wolves prior to the DLC were the Lamar Canyon and Blacktail Plateau coats. There is a tawny coat in the game, however it's much darker and the markings are different.
Not only is she a beautiful wolf but she has such a rich and interesting story to her. Def would love to see her coat in-game.
she was added in the new dlc!! such a pretty coat

Here is my question for the devblog: Will new howls be implemented into the game? The current NPC wolves all sound so beautiful so I was curious if those howls would be made available to players anytime in the future.
yesss! i would love that. they sounds so graceful and beautiful
My nominations:
Wolf 8 (great wolf and there are a couple pictures of him)
Wolf 2 (for 7)
Wolf 103 or Wolf 105 (some of my favorites)
Wolf 253 (I absolutely love this wolf so please and there are a lot of pictures of 253)
Wolf 480 (a wolf who traveled with 302 and was in the Druid pack with him)
White Wapiti Wolf/The White Lady’s daughter (I’m very sad about her likely death, also a lot of pictures of her)
Wolf 472 (‘06’s mother, there are also a few pictures of her)
Wolf 907 (she was the alpha of the only wolf pack I’ve ever actually seen)
Maybe Wolf 40?
Also maybe add a feature where your wolf’s coat will change and get lighter as it gets older?
And have sibling wolves disperse together, then if you play as them there can be pack drama :D (Also there are sometimes sibling hierarchy in wolf packs)
its been a year and the big horn sheep are still waiting 💀

The subtle map teasers in this video are gorgeous! :0
She was a cool wolf... and lived quite a long life!
Ooohhh!! wolf coat recommendations? Finally, my hours watching wolf documentaries have not gone to waste! Haha
Heres a couple suggestions:
White Female: She is the oldest wolf in Yellowstone rn, it'd be nice to celebrate that!
1276F: I just think the coat is pretty lol
1229F: Same as above
Matsi: Not a Yellowstone wolf(But if we're just using coats, then I don't think that should be a big deal), but from the documentary on Idaho's Sawtooth pack! I feel like he and his pack deserve some love, too
Amani: Same as Matsi
Chemukh: Same as Matsi
Wyakin: Same as Matsi
Motomo: Same as Matsi
I'm sure I'll think of more, so I'll keep replying to this comment until I have them all, haha
Aw I love the Sawtooths! I assume you read the Wisdom of the Wolves by Elli H. Radinger ;)
I read Living With Wolves (about the Sawtooth Pack) a few years back, it introduced me to wolves and Matsi was my favorite
Lol I feel the same
Ohhh, I love this idea! Since WQ is currently focusing more on wolves from Yellowstone, maybe the Sawtooth pack could be a different future DLC?
Since the Sawtooth pack was outside Yellowstone, maybe Sawtooth pack coats could come with Lost River?
I love this team so much, the way they not only listen to the community but also respond to it, does not happen as often it sounds by many companies. This one is by far, untouched.
I have a question
Do you have any plans to implement the cattle ranch that was in the old games?
Stay tuned!
@@WolfQuestGame
Growing up I read a book called ‘Coyote the Wonder Wolf’ by Joseph Lippincot and the videos I’ve seen of the cattle ranch immediately take me back to that book.
@@0800sofa I'd love that
I enjoy multiplayer so much - but as an adult that grew up on the OG game it's so crazy to realize how many kids and teens are still finding and loving this game, too!
Would love to see Romeo!
Small Dot and Little T are mates, not siblings! They're the current breeding pair of the Lamar Canyon pack. I agree, though, I'd love a Little T coat!!!

We have some of those already, but would love to see more.

since I was able to buy WolfQuest 3 I feel that an old side, the feelings of my childhood come back.

Everyone who has (or is) worked on this game is amazing and really deserves all the appreciation that we, as the community can give and show.
About the packs, i have some ideas:
- We are only allowed to have 34~38 wolves inside the pack.

I have quite the list of update ideas so I thought I'd share a few.
* Complete Heterochromia, a mutation in genes where one eye is a different color than the other
* Bison spawning in small herds so they can still be added into the game
* Stray dogs in Lost River that were left to fend for themselves
* If the mate of a wolf dies you can persuade them to be your mate and take over the Pack
* Customizable scars and more tears in the ear
* Your wolf can be half blind and half of the screen will be either black or blurry making gameplay harder

Something I've always thought would be cool would be CWD in deer that you hunt. I've always thought they would not even be scared of you since thats one of the stages of the disease. I also imagined they would have low health with a green health bar, indicating they're sick. The green health bar can also maybe go for your pups.
For the new DLC coats I think 1118F, 1267F or "Ragged Tail" from the Junction Butte pack would be nice additions.
@@kathyryan658 they're still family, not strangers in that case. I'm talking about total stranger wolves that they've never seen before.

:c Always love a good laughable bug, though.)
I also know I brought this up in the past, but I really think for a quality-of-life improvement that the older your wolf gets, the greyer fur they should obtain in varying stages.
Cause when you all finally finish the single player experience, it would be such a cool thing to do to bring the wolf simulator formula to a competative platform :D
Keep up the good work guys, I just started really playing this yesterday, and its just such a refreshing fun game.
Stay tuned!
@@WolfQuestGame 😮😮 Cant wait for more info!
Wiki Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OR-7
And since I got two might as well include the second one in as well
Slavc, a wolf with the species of Canis lupus, and electronically tracked by University of Ljubljana's Biology department between July 2011 and August 2012.
Wiki Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavc
And yeah I'm very late to suggest these but, now or never.
Wow that's amazing! take the time you all need. 🥰
Idea
The idea: when You finish getting the pup(s) to 20 Pounds when you want to play as that pup it shows you the personalities of that pup
( it’s just I can’t seem to find out my pup(s) personality )
Stay tuned!

Have you ever thought of allowing artists to create skin concepts to potentially be released in a dlc?
No, at this point we are very happy that our artist Steve Adamson is available to make more. This allows consistency and he really knows the coats and process.

Eeek! I'm so excited! A lot of these questions I just figured out, that I also was wondering! This helped me a lot! Thanks! I'm also so excited for Tower Fall! I know how much work WolfQuest puts into this game, and I really appreciate it! Thank you, and keep up the good work ! :D
Limpy was a great wolf and fascinating story. I'd love for you guys to represent him some how
I have a question: In the Future, would we get more interactions with our pups and mate i feel as though we could have more interactions between mates and especially pups watching them stumbling over the yearlings and they get agitated or playing with their siblings
Hello! been a serious fan of yours for as long as I can remember, I haven't known of wolfquest since 2007 (because I was born in 2006) but I've been playing wolfquest for 5 years maybe six? quite honestly the progress you've made over the course of years on this game in mind blowing! and I can't wait to see what the team brings to the table next.
I have some suggestions, though only some of the wolves originate from yellowstone, mostly because you pretty much got all the famous wolves we can list! but these are just some neat wolves in history or random ones in general that are nice to know about all the same.
-Wolf coat suggestions-
Romeo - Romeo was an Alexander Archipelago wolf (Canis lupus ligoni, a type of gray wolf) who lived around Mendenhall Glacier between 2003 and 2009.
Proceeding to pace back and forth.
for some reason I like to imagine lost river is an scp site
I have been summoned
Ha, same here.
You guys are actually the reason why I stopped believing the whole dominance myth! I can’t wait to see this game become even more realistic!
Id be so interested in an in-depth look at what goes into making a game as complex as wolfquest! Warts and all. Personally, i Love Love LOVE seeing what goes on behind the scenes and looking at how things in the game work. If you all ever have time to do that, id watch ASAP!
Well, we are approaching devblog #200 -- so there are plenty of warts for viewing :D
We figure wiggly pups take more energy to lug around.
Good hard work always pays off! Good job to you and the team! Can’t wait to see Wolfquest Anniversary Edition! 👍😁
@@WolfQuestGame allright take your time but I'd like to see wolf 8 in the game but I couldn't find any good pictures of him!
I love the old trailers
I have a question that you HAVE answered before- but I am wondering now if since the announcement of 'The Saga' if the answer will be different.
With the wolves story now being more linear, and not in separate parts as it was before- will the number labels on the pups increase as you have more? For example if my wolf and their mate have three pups in their first litter; 2F, 2M, and 3M. Will the next litter continue from that point like 3F, 4M, 5M, 4F, etc?
Thanks- and as always, the game looks stunning and I am so excited to see where it will go.
The naming system will be need to be reviewed with the Saga. :D
i honestly would love an explore mode or something of the sort that puts progress on hold til you switch it back and allows you to just roam a bit and enjoy exploring all the detail of the map without worrying about your pups or territory upkeep. it might not be the most realistic thing but i'd love to be able to explore the slough creek map without the stressors of territory and pup status, especially once you reach endless summer. its so cool watching these update videos and seeing just how far this game is coming along, so much has changed since i played the original as a kid, it's really wonderful to see
I would love to see Wolf 8 be added as a wolf coat!
8 is a great wolf! Unfortunately there are hardly any photos of him.
@@WolfQuestGame That's so unfortunate! Still, even if there wasn't a coat for him, I'd love to see something referencing him in game. Like an achievement that you get for adopting pups, or for getting a new mate who has a similar personality and raising to 8. Not exact, but similar.
*ANOTHER* map after Tower Falls??? WQ team you are spoiling us too much!!
Omg, wolf quest has come such a long way 😭😭 Im soo excited for the future of wolf quest!!!!!
This game really is beautiful, and so realistic and amazing. I do have another question. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry! I've ask this a billion times but, when our pups go to find mates, will we be able to pick some of their siblings to go with them?
As all parents discover, adult children make their own choices ;D
❤️
@@lionguardlionking9996 Aye, certainly challenges for all multiplayer games is balancing. :)
You guys are so commited!
478F is known as the oldest wolf to have lived and was from the Cougar Creek pack! Has her coat been made yet? Or is she not part of the game yet?
I'm just going to say this I think you guys are doing amazing on this I remember playing the old wolf quest on my ipad then in 2020 or 2021 I heard about wolf quest anniversaries I been playing it for almost a year maybe but I have a lot of fun playing it can't wait what you guys add next
I'm curious...like you said if all of the pups die the game isn't lost. I'm so glad about that!!! It's much more realistic especially with this whole saga. But will we still be able to age up? If so will we be able to take any perks? Or will aging still be synonymous with your successful number of litters?
You will keep aging each year and get to choose Age Perks even if your litter is not successful.
A few interesting wolves I would love to see in WolfQuest:
Wapiti White Alpha Female - „Daughter of the White Lady“
1091F Mouse - „A cute female who loves to hunt mice.“
1273M - „A really cheeky but beautiful wolf.“
870F - „A beautiful but lonely female.“
Little T - „Lamar Canyon Pack Alpha Female“
I don't think TH-cam allows links but I can mail you some with good pictures of the wolves if you want.
911M is technically in the game already! He's one of the default coats.
@@otterbells Oh yes you are right!
Stay tuned.
Ooh
Juction Butte's 1276F is beautiful! I havent seen a wolf with a mask like marking very often
@@modernprometheus99 that is true I didn’t think of that, thank u!
There will be lots more to explore in the new Lost River map!
