He didn't change colours or modify or add paint or do what a lot of people would call a restoration plus. This is as good as any I've seen. Including the guy that was on History Channel restoring stuff for the Pawn Stars and he charges insane amount to do the same thing this guy is. He would probably charge 500.00 to do this to the Tonka toy. Much better than the "restorers" who bury stuff in their garden and smash it up and then go and buy another good one for parts to make it look like they are doing something to it. Then spray paint the thing and mess it up further.
That’s because it’s easier for those people to ridicule and criticise than to try and do something constructive. This guy is a craftsman, nothing less.

I guess choosing the right material probably involves a little magic too. 😉

I love watching these restoration videos but I always worry about the old items containing lead based paint. I really appreciate when you include the lead test in the video, it helps me enjoy the video without worrying (too much) about your safety.

@@CoolAgainRestoration I can only speak for myself but those lead tests where you snap the two sections of it to activate it before you test actually give great ASMR. And since you don't use music in your vids (which is great) the ASMR of the lead test really contributes to the viewing experience.

Cool Again Restoration Lionel makes toy trains and such, some of their older stuff ( from the 50’s and stuff) is collectible, maybe try looking around and seeing what your willing to take on as a project
Built Tonka tough was one of the most honest things in advertising back in the day. Even in the early 80s the stuff was still insanely strong as I had a dump truck that i left outside in all weather and while rusty it never wore out. Can't say that about the metal used in toys now, though I wouldn't be surprised if modern tonka toys had more plastic to make them "kid safe".
Wow, that's an extremely unusual toy from Tonka. Usually they are simple, tough toys. This one is extremely intricate. I could see this as a challenging job from the beginning.

You should secure screws with zinc plating - they will rust faster than the speed of light, without any protection.
After sanding them,everytime I let in the oil for one,two days 👍🏻
