Mine had the issue where the back pin wouldn't compress properly so I had to set something on top of the lid to play games. I basically just watched you take it apart, but that's enough. Thanks.

MY gran turismo 3 disc is relatively clean but when I put it inside my Ps2 slim it makes a weird noise and doesn't read the disc. But when a made a few more attempts the disc works perfectly. So my conclusion is that the disc drive doesn't read the disc at first but does work like around the 3rd try. the weird noise only happens when it tries to read a disc, but when the noise doesn't happen the game works.. do I have to do something with the motor or the switch near the power and in the back??
My ps2 is opening but the CD us not spinning I think I folded the cable a little bit and causes a white line something where I folded because I think the ribbon is cauasing scratches on tge disc that is why in trying my best to flatten it a little bit but after that the disc is not spinning but it is opening and showing tge Sony PlayStation intro plsss help me how do I make the cd spin again. 😭😭😭😭
I got a problem. The games load, everything is fine, but when I play I always get interrupted by it saying my disc tray is open and that i need to close it. I open it and close it again and the game continues, but after a few minutes it happens again. How can I fix this?
My ps2 isn't displaying any disc read errors and also discs don't spin. It attempts to read the disc for a few seconds literally then does nothing. Any tips?
I have a fat and a slim, no pone intended, and the slim seems to be less tolerant for scratch disks. Now, you do need this fix, witch I have, but if the disk is a mess it might work on the fat, but not on the slim.

I took a long finger nail, clipped it and glued it in place, no it works like a charm🤓
The inside of my ps2 is different because its a model 90 slim and i cant find any videos on how to fix it, any advice

If all of your switches are good then your PS2 will need a new motor.
I have the same problem I opened it up and my ps2 does spin but the laser is to weak so it just stops spinning and it says cant read

Check both of the switches and if that still doesn't work then most likely your motor is burn due to the cause of the hair.

Motor needs to be spinning for the laser to read the disc correctly.

Check both of the power switch and cover switch, make sure nothing is loose.

The motor is bad and need to be replace.

Check the motor, probably got stuck or broken.
My issue is that it reads everything but dvd roms, it'll read CDs, DVDs and everything but DVD roms
