  • Over the last few months I have been printing a giant 3D printed LEGO inspired garden and now it's time to put it all together.
In January one on my favorite LEGO TH-camrs, Minifig Jez ( / @minifigjez ) was showing some 3D printed LEGO like flowers he had bought. Immediately I knew I needed to make my own 3D printed garden. Along the way I got a bit carried away and ended up making a few extra plants (bamboo and giant leaf)and a minifig gardener. Models for the flower and minifig can be found below.

This project as usual took a lot longer than I planned so ended up going out later in the year than I had hoped. I probably should have used PETG rather than PLA as it's getting very hot. While transporting the garden a few parts got broken unfortunately and I didn't have a chance to glue them properly.

    Just WOW!
Thanks for the mention and the link.
My 4 little flowers pale into insignificance... I feel that I need an entire garden now!

I got a bit carried away 😂. I didn't intend to make quite so many plants but once I got started I always found myself thinking I should just add a few more. If I manage to recover them they will be useful for future projects though so wont go to waste. Thank you for starting me on this idea.

You deserve more subscribers you spent such a long time making all those 3-D printed Lego flowers

This is awesome! I love that you look to intentionally leave these out after all your hard work and meticulous planning. I hope it lasts for a bit! Do provide an update in a future video.

Thanks cy's escapes. I also hope it lasts a while, I actually already managed to break a few bits just getting it all there.

Loved this! I’ve been struggling to print those same Lego flowers (they’ve fallen apart when printing the last inch or so, for whatever reason) but seeing how lovely your garden turned out I’m definitely going to give it another go.

Such a fun and interesting concept! It would be interesting to see large lego gardens more. The text at 1:59 looks like they were 3-D printed - if they are, that's really cool!

Hi, thanks for your kind comment and yes the text at 1:59 is 3D printed.

Guerilla art. Love it. What city is this?

I like the term guerrilla art although I'm not sure if this counts as art 😂. It's in Abu Dhabi which is why there is a chance the heat could be an issue.

1:30 was all that filament for just the minifig? (Megafig) or all the plants aswell?

    • @SketchyMaker

It was for all the plants as well, although even then not exactly. I had a lot of partial reels of filament that got used. That shot was more just for illustrative purposes. I can't remember exactly but I think the minifig was probably just over 1kg of filament.

It's been 3 weeks... Have any bits gone missing yet?

I actually just got it in a few days ago. Mostly it lasted pretty well. Looked like somebody had thrown a few stones at it and knocked off a few flowers. The water coming out of the hose and the big leaf plants had drooped in the heat (we had some days around 40C so pretty hot). The pink flowers in particular had faded a bit too. Overall a successful project though. I was a lot more stressed leaving giant Luke Skywalker outside as he had electronic bits and wasn't in the middle of a canal (which is why he was only out for 3 hours and fortunately didn't go missing).

How did the flowers held up? And did some dissapear?

As it got hotter some started to sag a bit and fade. I got them in after a month or two (I can't remember exactly how long). Nobody had manged to take any but a few things had been thrown at them.
