    Great question, my favorite is Big George after he fought Ron Lyle. George is an old school 1905 style, tie your arms up so you can't deliver punches to him. Very rudimentary, but I really liked it, served him very well. George is a brawler, creating opportunity with shear power, technique, and persistence. Now then, Shavers is the most powerful boxer, with great stamina, very well rounded fighter compared to George. Shavers had uncanny strength with great boxing, he was faster and fiercer. Much more reserved and calculated than George. More KO's than George. I can't really choose, I just know Big George is more Gung-Ho and that's what I love the most.

    • @toussaintf1
      @toussaintf1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean Shavers wasn't a boxer, he was a slugger. If you combine boxing skill with some of the power of Earnie Shavers then you have Mike Tyson. Strength is a great asset but strength alone is never enough otherwise Olympic gold medal weight lifters could switch to heavyweight boxing and earn millions. Obviously it isn't that simple. In addition to brute strength one needs coordination, flexibility and mobility. Earnie Shavers lacked those attributes so he never became a Mike Tyson or Joe Frazier but he had enough of those attributes to KO Ken Norton and others.

  • @toussaintf1

    QUESTION: Why was there never a Earnie Shavers vs George Foreman match? We understand why there could not have been an Earnie Shavers vs Mike Tyson match because those two fighters were of different time eras. But both Shavers and Foreman could have faced one another. Imagine such a match. Neither fighter would have bothered to back up. It would have looked like two tanks having a head on collision.

    The answer is this, Ernie was the harder puncher but Foreman was the better puncher. Ernie had a shocking right had that he turned into, but Foreman could throw punches from all different angles and knock you out with either hand. There is a reason why Shavers was never champion. You have to have a missile, who hits harder is irrelevant. It's who had the better technique and it was Foreman forsure.

  • @Steve-Riverwood

    What i see on those old boxing films, is that a Foreman powerpunch was like a bomb going of in his opponents abdomen, or like a bowling but being hurled point blank at the poor guy he's in the ring with! Those things are scary AF, but they dont continue they stop on impact and will hurt like hell. But when Shavers punched he tried to hit through his opponent! He followed through with force like NOBODY else.
    A Tyson punch was like a speeding Ferrari that you couldn't brace for, cause it came so fast from an angle, it wasn't seen. His opponents always looked like saying, "what happened" when they woke up!
