    My only gripe with customs is that when u spawn on the silo side u get so many options to extract and they’re all easy to get to, and then u have big red side where u have one bunker in the corner that’s got like 7 different spots to exit camp

      I hate customs with a burning passion. It's just a giant funnel, the entire time, and 90% of the quests seem to be in Dorms, the place every sweaty chad in existence converges to the moment the game starts. Adding the RUAF always being open helped, but... The map is just "Chokepoint: the map."

    • @Kualdir

      @@jackbright2125 I liked customs on practically dead servers but I literally just can't solo on them in full lobbies cause there'll be someone at basically every landmark / quest place and usually it'll be a squad or someone will come 3rd party. The map is nice just too many PMC's IMO (+ all the quests in dorms, why...)

      @@Kualdir The map is deliberately designed to funnel you into pvp with other players.
      The problem is that by Tarkov's design, if you fall behind due to work/school/burnout then this becomes cancer as you run into people with way better kits than you do.
      Also there's people who sit in bushes and stare at quest objectives.

    • @alexellis197
      @alexellis197 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Don't forget about the lack of ways to cross the river. The three spots can be easily camped and one spot can camp two of the three crossings. Add in the sniper scav on bunker rock that can glitch into the rock and be unkillable while shooting you through the rock and the lack of cover and good loot at those points and you have a recipe of terrible design. Now, add in the quests and it makes the map required to run a lot and frustrating to play and you get a lot of hate brewing at it. If they just put like cottages with loose loot dotting the open zones and made it feel more alive, it would improve a bit. We need more ways across the river, and we need loot to be worth it to go to such a headache of a map.

    Another problem with Shorelane is - they nerfed scav spawns into oblivion. You have like 10000 of quests about killing them with shotgun to the head, having scav vest and danding the tango and then devs decided it's great idea to recude scav spawns to none. The peacekeeper questline was the reason i stopped playing this wipe. I literally killed the twice of amount of players and couldn't find any scavs for raids.

    Woods is the best map. It's the only map that doesn't have a forced bottleneck where campers can easily get you as you try to cross from one side of the map to the other as you normally would to get to extract. If you want to loot in peace, there is around 25 stashes give or take, all mostly hidden in the middle of nowhere where you're unlikely to encounter a player. There are still multiple points of interests everywhere that you can easily get to by going through all the trees and bushes giving you protection from campers or from being seen by accident. USEC CAMP, RED TOWER, NIGHT VISION CABIN, EMERCON (med camp), SAWMILL, CONSTRUCTION, VILLAGE, SUNKEN VILLAGE, MOUNTAIN BUNKER. All of those places have enough loot for a solo to pretty much get filled up on and then go to extract.
    And if you want to PVP, go to sawmill where all the try hards go to fight each other and/or kill the boss. It's a really good map for those who like to snipe and long distance firefights. But close range firefights are still the general norm because points of interests tend to be in small compounds where you'll probably encounter other players looting. It's the most balanced map, and very good for solos trying to actually make money. However unlike any other map, those who main it will basically be one with nature and they'll blend in and get you from God knows where ala Predator. If you're a Chad with a lot of money, bringing a FLIR to woods is a game changer as no one will be able to hide from you in bushes but almost no one brings FLIRS so it's not a big worry.

    the bunker/underground firefights are one of the reasons why i do scav runs on Reserve. if someone goes down there and finds Raiders, chances are they won't be able to take all of the loot with them. so a scav run, especially a late match scav, is a decent way to just scurry down to the bunker without much hassle. by the end of the raid, most of the PMCs will be gone save for a select few. so you're gonna have an easy time reaching that area. my only issue is that my goblin brain forgets where it is. i see a staircase that goes down, my brain immediately says to go down it, not even realizing i'm going down the wrong staircase.

    big shoreline fan here. I get why people dislike it, but I think it presents a very unique gameplay loop to the other maps. rather than progressing from spawn to extract, gathering loot and fighting or avoiding players, you must book it to the resort and then make a mad dash out with the goods. plus resort PVP is pretty fun. audio is rough, like it is in the rest of the game, but resort is definitely an egregious example of how bad it is, but if you can adapt to it (don't stand by stairs), the resort offers a bigger dorms with more flanking and outplay potential.
    the repetitive quests are a drag, but I don't hold that against the map, that's just poor quest design by BSG and it could've happened to any of the maps in the game.
    all in all I think shoreline is a great map done dirty by poor audio design, repetitive quest design, and some spawn issues, which again are systemic issues in the game not limited to shoreline. if you look at the different gameplay loop shoreline offers and the design of the map, rather than the issues which plague all of tarkovs maps, i really do think shoreline is quite good and offers gameplay diversity which is much needed in tarkov. we don't want maps that all play the same or this game that we all like but can become stale and repetitive would get boring even quicker

The rest run around with iron sight guns with ass ammo, still hitting you from 300m away 5 times in a row. Tanking half a mag if it is not a headshot ... but are wearing paca armor

    I love Reserve, but u made a good point about surface level. It's been barren ever since they added the underground. I think what could make it better is if Glukhar had some sort of sign that he's in the raid, just like Shturman with his warning shots (and where, like Shturman's shots). If Glukhar wasn't so rare and was more farmable, it could bring a lot of players out of the sewers.

    Mr. Levi . I truly enjoy Shoreline, loot is only one reason why. The other is the PVP. If you spawn along the Shoreline or Road to Customs you can usually get a fight in the stretch between the blue fence lot to the Gas Station. With the Capturing Outposts quest you can often times find people at the Pier, going there or watching it from another spot. There's lots of places to snipe from. 3 days ago I caught a guy near the ammo box truck Scavs, close to rock passage sniper scavs. He had a reapir M1A. Anyways if you know the map, rotations and spawns it's not that hard to find a fight or get a kill outside of the resort. It's also easy to avoid fights if you stay out of the resort. When I have a problem finding other players is just when it's a dead raid. And let's be honest, sometimes you get a dead raid on all maps. I love Customs, it's my first love, Shoreline and Factory are split next in line. But even on Factory I've had raids where I was able to avoid PVP, (quests, survivals) because it seemed like everyone else was too.

    This is my first wipe I started playing 1 week before wipe happend witch was nice because I got a good feel for the maps, knowledge on how to begin questing and how pvp feels with the new movement mechanics and now I’m a lvl 40 only blocked from max traders by two levels and am working towards kappa/max hideout I think of all the maps I have found this wipe to make me money as much as light house is very annoying it has provided me the most rubles per hour but the good thing is if you learn all the jager stashes on woods and know good valuable spawns woods is on par with light house and if you pack some pnvgs and do woods at night we’ll you might run into a player once every few raids but if you really know the map you can almost avoid any conflict while still making anywhere of 4-700k rubles and honestly I’ve made more than that before but those are rare circumstances I think woods is a Great map for new players to really learn in depth and feel comfortable on and it makes you a very vigilant player over time

    Reserve-
    Yes the loot has been significantly nerfed many times but there still is great loot you just have to move around the map. The underground area with the locked gates is great and you easily make 700k+. The K buildings have a couple crates and tech spawns. Both of the knight buildings have really good weapon attachment/part spawns and tech loot. The pawn buildings are stacked with loose loot and they both have armor repair kit spawns. The dome area has 2 safes, 1 Intel spawn, and tech loot. You can easily make 500k if you get dome spawn and take RR extract. Queen and knight are stacked with loot. The bunker command center has raiders which aren't special and plenty of good loot. On your way to D2 there's that server area and the back room has a safe and computer plus the wood thing under the metal platform is an Intel spawn. When walking into the generator room there's a cart at the far left end and another cart on the right side by the door with steps that go down (rat spot) that both spawn high value tech loot. Reserve is by far the best map and it belongs in S++ tier if more people knew how to play it right.

    Shoreline enjoyer here. Yeah I like it for the money but running it at night is what I tend to do after work since night time ratting is more fun after a day at work and I don't feel like getting immediately assblasted by the sweatlords. PVP's not bad to me but only if youre fighting from admin to another part of the resort, any of the cottages, or at the pier. Rest of its basically just PVP in woods.

      If you know the stashes locations or just general containers and stuff you can do that in all maps really, but Interchang eain't even good for scav'ing IMO, because everyone and their grandmother scavs in either, lighthouse/interchange and maybe reserve, this is why I personally love scavving customs way more, especially later on in the wipe as people do not loot the good places as much, the stashes run by the mountain are all absolutely free as nobody bothers looting them, for some reason sometimes Stronghold is ignored completely by PMCs and I've found it more than a few times absolutely untouched. Although I guess scavving on Interchange is not the worst currently as it's probably pretty dead apart from people trying to do Long Line

    As a purely solo player on his first wipe, Shoreline is definitely A shore. (Kill me) Most quests have me go into places I stand no chances, When you finally reach the side of the map you need to do your quest on a chad is going to his exit and just pops you in the back of the head. It's painfull.

    • @hewhoplugwalks
      @hewhoplugwalks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Literally this ^^^
      Most people do Shoreline quests as a group, which makes running that map as a solo VERY hard, especially since the quests themselves often require you to grab something and make it out alive. And not to mention, a lot of quests there require keys to get into the rooms with the quest items. Keys that can be VERY expensive and being the one who has to buy them all really takes a chunk out of your rouble count. (looking at you, blue tape key).

(OMG Nikita tries to make 7.62x39 weapons even more viable (It's a joke)) And yes, shoreline and interchange (nighttime) are good tfor A)farming money B)killing scavs C) Fighting PMCs

  • @Nodjia
    @Nodjia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like lighthouse has the same problem of shoreline and interchange. Scavs spawn inside the points of interest within 2 minutes of map start, there is a VAST amount of nothing where the 'flow' of all PMC spawns is predictable, and there is a significant amount of chokepoint potential. The main road is a no-go zone for obvious reasons, the bridge to lighthouse proper is just as exposed, and the chokepoints near water treatment force 1 of 3 routes (waterline, old village crossing, mountain path) which are all campable. The 'reward' for making it to water treatment in a timely manner is an industrial area where the rogues make normal movement and pvp inside the facility a nightmare.
    I understand that controlling flow and creating chokepoints is intended to drive PVP, but there is a difference between "fun pvp" where both sides are engaging in content and "head eyes from a bush 100m out" or "lul you died to AI laser beam from a rooftop".
    Woods, by comparison, has later scav spawn timers which allow the PMC's to move about for long enough to get things done. It also is wide-enough with enough concealment and caches and random loot that a player could reasonably be expected to be 'anywhere'. I think that is the magic of woods, players have a legitimate reason to be anywhere on the map, whether they are transitioning from POI to POI, or moving toward extracts, or hanging out in a scav hut looking for loot. Shoreline and Lighthouse do not have that, they are like... empty foot-traffic highways that conduct players directly from point A to point B with very little reason for exploring, even the hidden caches are mostly inside those paths.
