You alright mate , I’ve got a little py80 and I’ve sprayed painted most things on it and had no problem looking good as new , but the gas tank everytime I spray paint it bubbles from underneath, I think it’s a plastic gas tank or it might be fibre glass one , do you know the problem I’ve used petrol resistant lacquer on top but it’s coming from under the paint so idk what I could use to stop it from bubbling, any help please will be highly appreciated 👌🏼👌🏼

so why do people dye them??

Because paint won't stick to them because of petrol vapours. Dirt bike tanks are very slightly porous so the gas fumes will peel paint, vinyl or pretty much anything that sticks to them. Dye works because it's changing the actual pigment of the tank, whereas paint is adding a layer to the surface. I painted a tank before years ago and the paint bubbled within a few weeks.

This is going to bubble just like the black did, its caused by permeation (google it).

@@christophermccartney5833 I think I have the same problem, painting my py80 gas tank everytime I paint it , it bubbles from underneath, do you think I should dye it then and see if that works , any help would be highly appreciated 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

@@smith2845 dye is what the manufacturers use from the factory, need a good quality dye though. Rit Dye is popular
