Excellent shots. Strange. I rode on those busses every day, but never really saw what they looked like. These photos capture their unique quirky look. And much more!

      Thank you, and same here.
Buses and trains were my primary forms of transportation before I was old enough to drive, and I spent loads of time on them.
This particular style was dubbed the GM Fishbowl due to their convex windshields.
I loved the sound of the coin box, but stupid people often ruined the trip with excessive cord pulling. How those drivers kept from going insane is beyond me…

@@claudiahansen4938 Speaking of which, I will relate a crazy anecdote from my youth.
Back in the mid ‘70s a friend was living in a ground floor apartment with his parents in a working class section of Queens. Overcrowding had not become an issue as of then, and his neighborhood was noted for being quiet and safe with its own 24 hour security patrol. You can imagine the shock his family received when they were awoken to a loud crashing sound and earthquake type tremors in the pre-dawn hours. When they jumped out of bed to see what had happened, they actually found a taxi parked in their living room, literally. It turns out that the driver had been working 2 jobs, not getting enough sleep, and using amphetamine to stay awake. He took the turn onto my friend’s block much too fast and wound up jumping the sidewalk and driving on the apartment building front lawn. He instinctively slammed on the brakes, but the heavy ‘60s Plymouth just hydroplaned over the slippery dew covered lawn and proceeded through the wall.
How’s that for door to door service?

      Greetings!
Just between us my friend’s dad was on his last year working for the MTA before retirement and let us take turns driving the R36 Bluebird as train enthused teens.
You had to see the smiles on our faces. 😎
