This is probably the best video I've seen so far when it comes to understanding how AI works in FIFA and how the instructions influence players' runs. I already knew this myself and see it exactly like you, so I've been playing on long balls as well, but the video is great for general understanding.
Agree! Every youtuber talks about work rates, how important offensive AI is and this game´s meta, but no one actually explains it. If average players could understand more about the game mechanics and how institutions works, we could build our own tactics. Thanks for the video!
I use Messi on free roam in the midfield in game on a maestro. He’s incredible at getting free, picking out a pass, dribbling and causing havoc for opposition wanting to double a triple team. No other way because he’s too slow, too weak and too passive so he needs to be protected with active CM’s around him…your vids are incredible man, really starting experimenting a lot with a bunch of formations after your outlook on the 3-5-2
The only issue with freeroam is they leave that position, and then one picks it up or interchanges unless they are all on free-roam, thats the issue, and I find they dont really occupy key spaces its more of they are just available, unless you want to play that way, always use l1 triggers with freeroam to time their runs from the exact angle they are at and that works extremely well, otherwise i find if I make just my CAM free roam, messi if he was there just ends up occupying other spaces where other players are, but occasionally sometimes may find space, id rather have a consistent player there for the link up and extra striker style in a 3-5-2, when you try it you will know what I mean
@@NealGuides Messi for me is strictly the facilitator or the man who pics the ball up from deep in the final third he doesn’t make runs for me due to his slowness. Try him specifically free and watch him force defenders to follow him out of position to free up others
@@barstar888 when i was on lower devotions i could play with riquelme as a classic cam on the left. I also had him on free roam, and i did not run with him, just used L2 to use his phusycañity and dribbling to drag opponents out of position until saw some space for a pass or a long shot. It was quite fun. With the actual gameplay i feel like i am playing rocket league instead of fifa.
Attacking position of a card is so important if you dont use playerlock or L1 trigger runs. But yeah from a 2k matches that Ive played in this game I agree with what you said.
Started to play when fifa 22 was out and i already wondered why everybody is playing on balanced I tried long ball and it suited me 10x more than everything else
Great video! I’ll definitely have to try out the 352. But 1 question: if long ball and forward runs are the best attacking tactics, then why do we see almost every pro fifa youtuber advocating for Balanced and Direct Passing? I’m not questioning ur recommendations, I’m just genuinely curious. Is it just a case of pro players being so good at using L1 to trigger players and knowing the meta game mechanics that they can still get away with using tactics that aren’t as effective as they could be?
If you have H/L player in CDM, and you put that player on Stay Back, they are going to stay back no matter what unless you trigger that player forward, go try it in your game, they may sit a tad bit higher but that CDM is staying put, the movement refers to how quickly they go forward and come back, so yes they would adhere to their workrates
Neil what does the game take into consideration first? Team tactics or player instructions? Ie if I had drop back as a defensive setting but had step up and aggressive interceptions, on all defenders what’s the game gonna tell them to do 🤔 ( just an example )
As soon as you win the ball back, hastily everyone just runs forward ASAP at full speed, very good for counter attacking plays in 4231 or 41212(2), but can be somewhat too fast sometimes
Great video, you're good at explaining. I have a question... could you be more specific about the difference between build-up tactics and offensive runs? I mean... in which areas of the field do they apply? I've always thought that build-up tactics were about when you regain possession, while the type of "offensive runs" mattered in the opponent's half, is that correct? You also mentioned that the instructions apply when you regain possession, so I'd like to get everything to align. Thanks in advance if you'll respond ❤
It's been 3 weeks but, if you still want the answer: Build up tactics only apply when you have the ball in your own half of the pitch. Chance creation tactics only apply when you're in possession of the ball in the opponent's half of the pitch. Player instructions apply in any part of the pitch.
Hello Neal! I have 93 Benzema, TOTY Messi, 92 Werner and 92 Toty HM Salah. For your 4321, how would you place them? Which one should be the cover wing cm and which one the come back cf? Also, do you think I should change any player? I have 2 true ST (Benz and Werner) Should I only keep 1 and get a winger? Cheers
She can play there, as in the CM that joins that attack right? yeah shes fine, I prefer an attacker but she will be fine just make sure shes got a hunter/shadow
Not sure if it was this one but came up against a guy using this formation yesterday and it was an absolute nightmare. Personally I don't go for 3 backs or 5 backs what do you think would be the best formation to counter this?
how tf can u control 10 players at the same time? or do u want all your players other than the one you're controlling to stand still and wait for you to control them?
Got some on my channel, I was mainly focusing on what instructions and tactics make the best movement i.e. forward runs/direct passing, long ball, get in behind etc, these all make the player move...
I don’t think you guys understand how smart this man is !!!! He should be protected with body guards because Broo like this guy is a genius , a blessing ! Oh my ! Words can’t do justice. I wish you long life my bro All God’s blessings! 🫂 ❤
Also you never mention with using long ball it WILL make the game a lot more open. It pushes opposition team back and creates huge gaps between the lines. Great if you’re a good attacker but awful if you struggle whatsoever at defending. I do not recommend long ball for the average player at all.
Which formation has better AI movement in your opinion? And also Servers dont effect AI movement regardless, so its got nothing to do with server in that respect

Salah as rcm for the finnese and werner or benzema on comeback because messi got medium/low workrates so keep him up front
Benzema and Messi stay forward and get in behind.
Werner as defending cf and Salah as wing covering cm.
Werner LW, Benzema ST, Messi RW, and Salah in the midfield, put Werner on come back and keep benzema and messi up front in 44-2 defensive shape
As I said 😅
thank you all guys. I will keep Messi and Benzema as the stay forward CFs. Which one goes CF and which one goes RCF?
