@@m4sonic I think about this song a lot. You inspired me many years ago to get into music production. Cheers bud! To many more years of making my cats go nuts.
Recently rediscovered this song and yeah, blew my mind again at how good and ahead of it's time it was. The song alone is great, but the fact he did this live on 2 launchpads makes it that more legendary.
THIS is a launchpad original.......not like others and their shitty light shows and pre recorded buttons.....every button has each different sound...not some stitched up song just played on a launchpad with horrible timing.....THIS IS A WORK OF ART.....LOVE IT
Could be, But it's like on a guitar where you have to remember for every string 'round 11 places where you find a chord, that you could need in a song (that means 6x11=66). same there ^^
So good. I remember playing this endlessly on repeat as a teen, and now ten years later I still love it. I hope you're going strong. I will enjoy checking out your channel.
I think this is where the future of music is headed. Not specifically the genre used here, but this type of midi control. With the practically zero latency sound controllers and amazingly powerful software we have now, anything can be produced. It begins with people saying its less than music and progresses to something more than music.
I hate that this seems to be the only guy on youtube that actually plays the damn Launchpad and not press a few buttons and try to dazzle with a light show. THIS is fucking raw talent. I can only aspire to one day be able to play something like this.
Yea but some people like Nev and Exige make extremely good light shows, not heaps of talent in their button pressing but you can tell they're very talented in making lights.
It breaks my heart a little to know I wont get to go back to the good old days when I saw you release these after a lame day of school. Thanks for the work you put into all these vids, they made so many have such a great time.
Then you have not seen mania or osu or taiko before that takes some serious hand eye coordination and a lot faster button clicking then this, imagine this song at double the speed.
Trac Reed Not really. I'm also a player of O2Jam and other similar games (Of course, O!M as well). First of all, rhythm game demand every player to have a really good hand and eye coordination, but let's look at other aspect. Rhythm game are limited to 8K (well, PSP hold the records for having 10 keys for a rhythm game), and your eyes are fixed to the falling notes (not talking about any other types of rhythm game here). Your hard is also fixed to the specific button that you have to push (As for me, ASD[Space]KL;). Launchpad are not limited in terms of keys (could reach to 128K according to the song that you're going to play), and the rhythms are all up to the player. It's harder to keep the same tempo without any cues or anything rather than just pressing the button according to the cues (yes, I'm talking about the falling notes). For short, you can't compare these two, as they serves different purposes. One is for entertainment, one is for real music production. tl;dr? just ignore me :D
pratama000 I guess most of the stuff you are saying is correct but he does not really need to look at anything if there is no like sheet that tells him what to click so hand eye cordination is more of a rhythm game thing and the launchpad is more memorization, well that is just what I think I might be completely wrong and sound like an idiot but I don't know everything xD
Trac Reed Nope, you're correct. Launchpad is indeed, not a hand-eye coordination, but more like hand and memory coordination. And sometimes it's not only about memorization, but also improvisation (since you don't look at anything, you could improvise to the max).
You were revolutionary. You paved the way for electronic music with launchpads, if it wasn’t for you I don’t think Novation Launchpads would be as big as they are.
honestly what I love most about this video and his others, is that he doesn't program in some fancy light show just for TH-cam. You can actually see what he's doing. don't need a bunch of lights going off to showcase your talent. keep it up.
I was a kid when this dropped, social issues. Lonely boy. M4sonic inspired me to start creating music and meeting new people. It was the best years of my whole life. I remember those days searching "electronic music" and the first videos that came was always M4sonic. The best for sure
Okay, you don't have do be a talent to use Launchpads... only save the sounds on the Keys and learn the order. This may take a time but you dont need to be talented...
Pix3lP | Willkommen auf meinem Channel! Its ether talent, or a metric crap-ton o' well placed practice. Probably a bit of both, he says he has a background in classical piano... sooo yea.... Something tells me that the classical background helps a lot with making complex melodies, and other musicy shiznit. (my knowledge in da musics is at a beginner's level as of yet.)
We NEED Launchpad lessons NOW!! Its 2014 and Electronic music is getting SUPER popular now, you can get one of these Launchpads At Guitar Center, worth it
Just looked this up again after *checks date* 11 years, jesus. Still an absolute banger and what an insane skill level to be able to play this. I hope all good things came from this!
these pads seem to be a great new chance for people to turn their thoughts and feelings into music. A real new level of making music :). And he is a Master of his instrument XD
Bro this literally inspired me to get into music 10 years ago. I’m not rich or anything but I’ve been making music on my phone ever since! Mastered GarageBand IOS, taught myself music theory and learned to roughly mix and arrange my songs with no signs of stopping anytime soon! Appreciate you bro!
9 years later and i still remember when my older brother wanted this so badly back then, i used to watch M4SONIC's videos a lot and in general launchpad related stuff. Beautiful days
I saw this video when I was 5 for the first time and I was amazed, and I still am amazed by this 10 years later... edit: I started playing launchpad myself now lol
i must be kinda hard to remember the sounds on the launchpad but this guy is boss for using 2 launchpads i want one so bad does anyone know where i can get one
i really want one too, but they are kind of expensive, and i don't know if i'd be able to pull off good songs or tracks, practice makes perfect but still... i'll really look into buying one before spending too much money on something i can't master or whatever :/
I remember I had this on my really old phone, I would play it on my way to school because I hated school so much, this song would pump me up. God I haven’t listened to it in years and I still love it 🧡
+Moriar Krux this made me chuckle lol because my Catholic teacher at school always berates us for listening to us and threatens reproductions from God and such lol
After 8 years of watching your videos and they never get old. I tried a launchpad and the skill needed is serious. still the best i have ever seen on launchpads.
Kaskobi did 21, but this is still good on it's own right. Personally, I would want to watch this: th-cam.com/video/SNnnavRQlxA/w-d-xo.html A guy did this for a talent show and won. M4Sonic contacted him YEARS after, probably today.
Man, I remember adapting this to play with Soundplant, a program that let you assign samples to keys on your keyboard, back when I didn't have a Launchpad. Good times. I still come back to this every now and then. I remember this helped me sort of understand how layering sounds works in music production. Much love!
So let's start 2021 hype;) Not sure how many years ago I got this on my playlist, but it's still sitting there. Currently listening to it almost half pat midnight. As strong as ever! :)
Kilian Schwan Actually M4SONIC created alot of the sounds that you hear on what does the fox say. He was jamming with one of the producers that made the music for what does the fox say and that producer took some of those jams they made and put them into what does the fox say.
I revisited the original because of Virus 2.0 and I was suprised as I noticed I didn't remembered the vocal FX. Interesting and definitly a good sign for you.

Amazon, cost's a lot though. £150 per piece and you'd have to hook it up to your computer and bind all the different buttons to different sounds that you would have to find yourself. Then you'd have to see what sounds work and compose a tune which could take a very long time.

Are you serius? With 2 LaunchPad? Give that man a Medal.
Kaskobi did it with 21 launchpads but only used about 8 of them
- jvill6Gamez - your reply was 2 years late... Probably he dead..
lol
@jvill6Gamez This was during the golden age of launchpad, before that cancerous stuff.
jvill6Gamez What?. Only 8? What was he thinking?.
