There's a glitch in stage builder that allows solving this actually! When i stumbled upon this idea a few years ago, i realized that zigzags can get really big if squished down a rail could work too, but having two sections of wall tends to lead to more glitches in my experience

Ok. 1st. ITS NOT SPIKES! Spikes drag the enemy down with the player. Those kills are METEOR SMASHES! There is a difference. There is a stage spike. Where u bounce the enemy off the underside of the stage. But at the end of the day. Its not a spike. Its a meteor smash. Not too many characters have actual spikes. But plenty have meteor smashes. The fact that there are spirits dedicated to throwing and meteor(hoopa unbound for example). Yeah it's meteor smashes. Sonic shiek ZSS captain falcon corrin ganondorf and bowser all have a spike using either down air or down special. Serveal characters recovery technically spike. Dedede. Kirby. Ike. Mii Brawler. Mii Swordsman. Cloud. Pyra. Chrom. All of these characters have a RECOVERY that spikes...though DeDeDes also works as a meteor outright. Spikes is a drag down move. Meteor smash is the 1 with downward momentum on the enemy without risking the player. 2nd. I'm curious as to when meteor smashes started being called spike. My guess is sometime during smash 4.
Can you make lava walls do the same as the bottom blastzone and only kill in hitstun and otherwise save you? That'd be a cool concept just a lava box stage.
An interesting idea for a twist on this would be to remove the platform and just keep bouncing on the lava, only killing opponents with spike hitboxes. You could have a respawning platform occasionally to give players the opportunity to get their jump back as well

The spike blast zone is higher than the normal one? I never knew that. I always looked at myself getting spiked and thought "it's no way I died from that I've recovered from lower than that before" like I've seen my character just spawn out of existence from a spike that shouldn't have killed me. But if spikes have a separate blast zone that makes so much sense. Why would they do that?
The craziest thing is that there was a demonstration with Fox getting spiked and he died from the higher spike blastzone from 0% -14%, but LIVED from 15% to 40%. And at +40% he dies again... It also has to do with the character being in tumble animation or not
There was this game on Xbox (Def Jam) that I loved to play because of its KO mechanic: you couldn't win by landing a weak blow that chipped away the remaining HP. Instead, you'd be put in a state where any powerful or flashy move could KO you. After a bit of time, you'd be put out of that state if you managed to survive. That mode reminds me of that. I wanted to see so badly a smash mode where you have to land a good blow to win. This is amazing!
@@meta04 No. Smash has little mac, ganondorf, doc, roy, chrom, ike... So many characters you can gimp: in smash, for those characters, being hit offstage by the weakest move often means death.

@@Shady_Fungus Kazuya has one good spike but it's hard to hit and the other is a baby spike that won't really work in this mode Donkey Kong has 3 easy to hit spikes and 1 baby spike that won't work in this mode
I suggested something similar to this awhile back, but this one is cooler since it takes the blast zone into account. Cool map, I didn’t even think of that!
As a Riddles fan and Shoto player myself, its sad to see when you're really good with a character but the only thing that made you lose was a misinput, whether from the game or player error.
His up b spike is very weak and would only work on the bottom. His down air also only spikes at around like 135-150 percent.though the lava would help with damaging them enough for Kirby's down air to spike.

This wouldn't work because when the spawned stage falls, it won't disappear, it'll just stay on the lava.

There are already custom stages completely boxed in with wormholes or cannons on the top to enable entry but not exit

If you make the stage a platform (semi solid) so that you don't get stage spiked but you can go down through it to spike your opponent
