    Good review. It is always nice to see where the Firehouse originated, Cunningham. Also, the location has it's benefits with shopping right outside the door.

    First of all, I love how great SMFR is at honoring the legacy fire departments it has acquired! I feel like it would be easy just to gloss over this, but you all do a great job of honoring that history. Second, what is the fan used for?

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! The Fan is used to ventilate smoke or other hazardous fumes out of large buildings. It has been used at hazardous materials leaks inside big box stores and to clear smoke out of warehouses.

      Hello SMFR I was just wondering if I was a firefighter (but I’m not a firefighter) say you don’t get a call and you are just chilling out at the fire station could you have your bunker pants on until you get a call from dispatch just wondering. I was just wondering is your firefighter training really hard but say you can’t take the smoke and fire are you able to step out on the front entrance or balcony on the second floor. Is there any chance that you could do a Day of the life with a ladie firefighter or paramedic if that’s a chance. And if there’s any chance that you could do the paramedic series again that would be awesome. Please let me know if there’s any chance that you could do that and answer my questions please. Thanks

    • @goodday8264
      @goodday8264 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not SMFR but I can answer your question! No usually you cannot have your bunker pants on within the station, they can carry toxic particles from fires binded into the material even if you clean it through the extractor. Not to mention what you step on with your boots. You’ll always have it on your rack or by your apparatus to put on incase of a call. But more often than not you’ll have emt pants on, t-shirt or polo. With emt boots as-well while just at the station.

    So did the fire house come first or the shopping center? Curious on how that transpired. Excellent video as always guys! Stay Safe.

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The shopping center was there first. The original Cunningham Station 2 or "62" was located at Tower Road and Berry Avenue, a couple miles southeast of the current station. It was moved to help provide faster 2nd due response times into present day Station 21's area.

    Is BC5 in a reserve right now? Don’t have have a the same as the other battalions have

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Battalion 5 is now using the F150 in this video as their front line vehicle. It has less mileage than their previous F150. BC1, BC2 and BC5 will be getting new 2023 F150's later this year.

  • @MaH112
    @MaH112 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    SMFR: what are the solar panels on BC5 used for? Do they create enough power to actually charge the batteries?

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the Battalion, Safety and Medic Unit units have solar panels to charge the auxiliary battery while the vehicle is away from shore power at the station.

    You know what is Funny on that Story? In the 90's, I played with Lego Stones/City in the age of 7-8 years, when my fantasy skills take on really crazy ways.. in this time i Bulid a Police Station in the middle of an Eiscreme/Restaurant Building. YEAH! You're heare it right, men!
    In the middle of a Fucking Icecream/Restaurant! It had got everything a Police Station and a normally Restaurant/Icecream Building should have.. An Icecream Shop, with many different sorts of Icecreams, and a fruitsbar, as well a Restaurant with many different meals as like Pizza, or Nudels, and Salats.. Beside this in the Backside it had a cheef office, an Operation room where all the officers waiting for their Missions, with an Seprate Radio/Operator room, a small Jail, combianete with an interrogation room. As well of course a Parking slot In the backyard, where all the police cars waiting for their Missions.
    But you guess what, I thing this days why my fantasy goes so crazy in the past like that?.. Because even already wehn I was a little child, I was almost every time hungry and looking go get something to eat, in combination to wanna be a Police, or Fire men.. 😂😂😂 The only two things what has really changed up to today is the fact that i don't wanna fight against playing kids plays with fire, as well don't wanna clear out the criminal mess out of the streets, without any Respect to Emergency Services, I can't really tell what I need more.. Food, or Beer - Stay Taff every Men/Women doing your Job out in this Fucking World! Cheers! 🍻

    I’m curious to know why the entire engine crew hops in the brush truck when there is a brush fire. We normally pull a person off the truck to take our brush out.

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your question. South Metro's wildland response model focuses on fully staffed apparatus for the needed tasks. At large brush fires it used to get confusing from an accountability standpoint when each station brought their Engine and Brush. The whole crew would often get on the Brush and engage the fire while their Engine sat somewhere un-staffed, but still showing on scene. Since then, responding with a full crew on the most needed apparatus has been very effective for South Metro.

      Hi Carson, Firefighters are required to leave their bunker gear in the apparatus bay, that equipment is never allowed in the living space of the fire station. During incidents with smoke all firefighters in the dangerous environment are required to wear their SCBA and breathe clean air, so there shouldn't ever be a reason for a firefighter to be overcome with smoke. There are 2 Day in the Life videos that feature women, including an Engineer and a Probationary Firefighter.

    How many stations are in a battalion? Are they all about the same size as battalion 5 as he mentioned

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 6 fire stations in each Battalion, so they're all the same size for span of control.

    Why not? I guess maybe the argument of all the extra traffic they would have to deal with going in and out of the center compared to having a building on its own lot in a urban area or outside of town with nothing around but they have everything else in shopping centers. Dentists, doctors etc. If it's the only or best place to put it due to limited spacing or that its best location for overall response time to the whole area that's covered why not?

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! It's a little different, but the location was the best choice for Cunningham Fire Rescue and response times are the most important part!
