- Antarctica! Our 9-month ultimate world cruise has made it to the bottom of the world!
We’ve been so excited on our Royal Caribbean ultimate world cruise to get to Antarctica and now we get to share it with everyone. But first we had to brave the Drake Passage!!! Luckily our seas weren’t too bad, only 20 to 30 feet! Once in Antarctica on we saw penguins, whales, and the most amazing scenery. We also answer the question, “How did we pack for this weather?” on our Ultimate World Cruise. Hope you enjoy coming along to the bottom of the world with us on our ultimate world cruise.
Here’s the link to the documentary on Ernest Shackleton we mentioned:

You know what makes your videos of this trip so wonderful… it’s that you value the captains expertise and judgement, your reasonable expectations and flexibility. You aren’t letting reasonable changes spoil your time. It’s just a joy to watch ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words. We all just have to go with the flow and none. None of these changes that happen are worth getting upset over.
You missed a port. But most important, the Captain is making decisions to keep everyone safe. That's the best. These images are great. What an adventure! Blessings to you both.
We have a lot of admiration for our captain. Thanks so much for your kind words and thanks for watching.
My husband and I look so forward to your updates. You both are excellent at making informative, interesting and all encompassing videos of where you are, the culture, food, etc. And you do it in a timely manner-perfect!!!! Your videos are very very appreciated as you take your time away from your wonderful vacation to share with all! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for following along on our journey.
You have the real world geography class. You are the best teachers.
Thank you so much!
I love this videos! You two are so smart and every time I watch your video I learn something new. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for your kind words.
This. This is what life is all about. Pure majestic beauty. Antarctica is a dream. Going here on this leg would be my main reason for doing your cruise. And so worth any rough seas.
I couldnt wipe the smile of my face watching this today.
Nancy, I love how your eyes lit up when talking about it.
10/10
❤ your favourite Aussie follower
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I am so happy to have you follow along on our journey.
I absolutely LOVE that you both honored the captain, and gave him shout out ❤
Thank you.
Thank you for posting! Here are a few thoughts as I watch:
- How fun that they brought a piece of ice on for you! And to drink it in your bourbon! How FUN!!!
- My favorite part of this video was Paradise Bay and you eating breakfast looking out of your balcony. What an experience!
- I'm definitely going to check out Ernest Shackleton's story. Sounds absolutely amazing! I can't believe no one died in all that. What a miracle!
- When Mike read the words from the Albatross Monument, I got chills. So moving!
- The time lapse videos and the maps really help with getting the full picture of what you're trying to share. Thank you for the extra effort!
- Looking forward to the next video and I hope you enjoy the 70 degree weather in Cabo San Lucas tomorrow!
Thanks so much for the kind comments. Even though our videos only come out every few days, it's cool that you're following along and know exactly where our ship is goingne t. Yes, as we reply to this, we're getting ready to go to bed and going to Cabo tomorrow to have tacos and margaritas and just enjoy the wonderful weather. We really appreciate you following along and hope you enjoy the videos.
@@livingphase2 I am LOVING living vicariously through you! Royal has a web page that has your whole itinerary and it's so fun to follow along! Drink a margarita for me!! YAY!!! Silly story, when I was in second grade, my teacher had a visual so we could follow the Iditarod racers and it was so exciting! I never forgot it! This reminds me a lot of that and even more fun with your video content.
Mike and Nancy, I was dreading this video after hearing about the Drake Passage difficulties, but you two made it viewable...and very enjoyable. Your Ultimate Cruise is ideal and I love every one of your (no drama) videos. Thanks for being a great couple to watch and for sharing your experiences with us. Looking forward to all the rest of your trip! Nancy in Mobile.
Thank you so much for your kind words. And thank you for following along on our journey.
Oh my!!! Antartica wow!!! Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
Thanks for watching!
Love the Shackleton story
Thanks
I so look forward to your videos! Worst part the end of each video is to realize it will be several days to see another. Thank you for sharing your amazing trip with us!
Thanks so much for following along on our journey.
That poem was so touching! Made me tear up. Glad you guys are staying warm and thanks for showing us the incredible scenery from your adventure! I love that you put a piece of iceberg in your bourbon....hahahhaha!
Thank you.
Nancy you look so lovely by that equally lovely iceberg! Wow, how exciting to be in that part of the world, wow!!! Gorgeous white ice, incredible👏👏👏👏👌. Always love ❤you both and your calm delivery in the middle of rough seas! Another gorgeous vlog. Thank you so much for sharing and making my day! And yes, your captain is the best, thinking of his passengers first, 2nd and 3rd. The best!👏👏👏👏😻❤🫂
Thank you so much for your kind words. And thank you for following along on our journey. We appreciate you.
I so enjoy your posts! Y’all make me feel like I’m there. I feel like your posts are the most genuine and real, and I appreciate that. Can’t wait to see more!
Thank you so much!!
Antarctica was amazing. Loved the blue in the ice. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
I have a friend who went on one cruise and will never do 1 again. Why, because when they did tender to the island they got off on, They all ended up being stranded overnight. Because a storm came in and they could not get back to the boat. This was royal caribbean about 20 years ago. Kudos to your captain.
Oh, that would be miserable. Thankfully, there are not very many ports we have to tender into.
Stay warm and safe. Thx for sharing your updates.
I was on the NCL Star a week later than you in these ports. Drake Passage
Ike glass. It was crazy ! Perfect. We got to Port Stanley, but they told us the week before when you were in the area said it was horrible there. Your captain made a great call !
So glad you made it there. I’m actually feeling a little jealous. But it gives us an excuse to come back someday.
Incredible! I'm living vicariously through you on this trip, so keep these videos/photos coming!
Thank you.
Stunning, safety first. You guys are too cute.I will have my meals with those views any day
Thank you.
Thanks
Good on the Captain for making the decision to keep you all safe on you big cruise
We really think highly of Captain Stig.
wow, after a month you are still enjoying your time on board. Love watching.
We go to bed every night and say it was the best day ever! We say it every day.😀
Another great one. See ya Sunday.
Thanks so much. Be sure to say hello to us on the ship!😀
Great video! Those caves in the icebergs were very cool.
It was very beautiful.
Wonderful footage 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it
I think about the great explorers, Amundsen and Scott, in their smalll ships in the same conditions. Scientists have also found a lake under the glaciers. What a wonderful experience for you--have fun!
Thanks so much for watching. And thank you for the interesting fact about the lake. I’ll have to do some research on that.😀
You two are such a joy to watch. Thank you for taking all of us on this cruise with you!
Thanks for joining us on our journey.
I love how much you appreciate this experience. Your awe and admiration really comes through and makes watching so fun. Thanks for sharing! Those rainbows were incredible!
Thank you so much!
Four Days!!! Wow. That is fantastic IMO. Another great video. You are capturing this trip beautifully, including scenery and people and info. The little details about deciding to eat dinner on the balcony, and putting some ice berg in drink add interest. Sounds like your captain and crew at top notch too!
Thank you so much and yes, we absolutely love the captain and the crew.
Another great video and I’m really enjoying them. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for sharing. Loving following your adventures!
Thanks so much
So enjoying following you on your journey. Thank you for sharing it all with the world!

Looks super cold, but like a lot of fun! Good to hear the captain is keeping everyone safe. Thank you for taking the time to share the experience with us!!
Thanks for watching!
Loving your updates, loads on my bucket list!
Thank you.
Thanks again for another great video! My daughter and I are headed to Antarctica in January 2025 on an expedition ship…. Can’t wait!
Oh, that is so exciting. Actually feeling a little jealous as that is something we would certainly like to do in the future.
If you approached from our side, you would have seen ice-shelves. It takes it all to make that amazing place! Those mountains are spectacular - thanks for the footage.
Thank you so much for watching.
Another wow.
Wonderful stuff.
Thanks so much!
Your presentation on the trip is truly captivating. I can only dream of embarking on such an adventure myself. Wishing you a fantastic journey on your world tour.
Thank you very much!
Thoroughly enjoying each video you share on your world cruise. Your calm nature of going with the flow when things interrupt the itinerary is admirable. Looking forward to more videos to live vicariously throughout the world!
Thanks so much!
Thank for the referral to watch Shackleton’s captain! Very fascinating.
We were both very fascinated with that documentary. And then getting to see where Shackleton’s camp was was amazing. How they survived…
Love following your trip. The map is so helpful, thanks for that.
Thank you so much. We will keep the maps coming.😀
I'm so thankful the captain made the decision to blast on through the Drake passage to help mitigate as much sea sickness as possible.
WOW! That whale! Fantastic!
What a pity you didn't make it to the Falklands. Better safe than sorry though.
It was disappointing to miss. Maybe someday we will get back and try again.
I’ve been so looking forward to this video! How beautiful to see such a dramatic landscape. Thanks for sharing! The Drake Passage might be somewhere I’ll avoid though 😆 Also Nancy, you look lovely in pink 😀
Debbie, that's so kind of you. We really appreciate it and are so glad you're enjoying following along with our adventures. And Mike here, I think Nancy looks great in pink also😄
This video is so informative and amazing! I would love to see Antarctica! What a neat place to see on our beautiful planet! 🌎 Thank you for sharing your experiences!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nearing Phase 2 with hubby, and hope to have even a small portion of the adventures that you are sharing! Thanks for bringing us along! Loving all your videos! Keep them coming!

Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing these amazing adventures!

WOW Amazing Enjoy lots of Fun and Stay Safe All Ways All 🙏🙏
Thanks so much
Wow! Amazing your video and description of Antartica. That Drake passage is fierce. I love the maps, descriptions, wildlife shots and the iceberg onboard. So cool. Looking forwards to the next video. Thanks Nancy and Mike.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for following along on our journey.
Ornaments and patches...just saw your vid! Great memories!
Thank you.
By endurance we conquered . Shackleton’s motto I’d the name of the great book by prof Michael smith. And also trapped in the ice, another great take on the history. I can’t believe you could be there for a while.
For scientific discovery give me Scott; for speed and efficiency of travel give me Amundsen; but when disaster strikes and all hope is gone, get down on your knees and pray for Shackleton.
I have been following you since day one and today I suscribed. That you even mentioned one of the greatest polar explorers is what makes your content so unique. Thank you for taking the time to edit and upload your videos. They are great.
Signed someone who always thought poorly of cruises and whose mind is being challenged because of your posts.
It’s the name (sorry, Spanish is my first language and sometimes my phone makes funny things)
Thank you so much for the kind comments. We had many discussions amongst our friends of The Amazing Adventure of Shackleton and his crew while we sat watching the very bay where they waited 120 days for him to return. It's unbelievably moving to actually be there and looking directly at it. I really appreciate your knowledge and comments related to that. So often, many of us don't realize the depth in history of the places we visit. We will have many of those on this world adventure. Thanks for watching and many blessings.
Thank you for sharing your adventures. I’m enjoying every minute of your videos.
Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you once again for sharing these amazing photos and videos with us! ❤We have a cruise booked for Antarctica in 2026, so this gives us insight on what to expect and what to pack. Looking forward to your next videos! 😊
Thank you so much. And have a wonderful cruise in 2026. You’re going to love it!😀
I`ve been learning so much from you!!! You rock, guys!!!
Thanks so much!
Love following along on your adventure. You will be in my home town Brisbane on March 11 and I wondered if you had any tours booked and if not, if you wanted a personal tour guide? Get in touch if that's something you'd be interested in. I'd be happy to give you some insight on must see places whilst you're here too.
That is so kind of you to offer but we have a tour booked already. Thank you again.😀
Loving living vicariously through your videos!
Thank you so much for following along on our journey.
I’m enjoying the trip with you! What great video you have and I enjoy listening to your perspectives!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank You for another great video. Enjoying them very much. 💜💙
You are so welcome
Your living my dream. Enjoy

Awesome video. The two of you make it real. I felt like I was there!
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful! Enjoying your trip in California! Love your videos! ❤
Thanks so much!
I’m so jealous/happy for you. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you so much!
Another great video, thanks for sharing!
You guys have actually inspired me to book my first cruise at the end of this year!! Its only a 3day "sampler cruise" (for now) but I'm excited, and now have to go back to rewatch all your videos, the packing ones are super helpful too, so thankyou!! And have a lovely rest of your trip, cant wait to see more
That’s so exciting. Enjoy your cruise!
I have watched your packing video and you referenced the items that you packed for Antarctica in this video. At the end of your adventure, I would love to see a video on what were the most valuable items or what you could have used more of. Conversely, maybe things you shouldn't have brought or brought less of.
Yes, I think we’ll do one of those videos about what we are happy. We brought in a few weeks because now we’ve had a pretty good idea of what has worked well, and what hasn’t. Overall though, we’ve been very happy with what we’ve brought.
I am so enjoying your content and presentation style - thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
I feel blessed to follow your journey, you bring what we see on your vlogs to life, thanks for sharing them with us. QUESTION: how is the laundry service holding up for ya all. Have a great day.
The laundry service is doing great. I don’t send any delicates. But our travel clothes come back perfect each and every time.
This was an awesome video! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Loved seeing the whale breaching, but don't think I could handle the Drake Passage!
There certainly was a lot of beauty. And I am glad to get through the Drake passage. Thank goodness for seasick pills.
another beautiful video.
Thank you.
Crap, now I have to add Antartica to my cruise bucket list.
It was truly beautiful.
Wonderful vidio it is a insight into Antarctica shame you couldnt go to Port Stanley it is very British love those Penquins safe sailing from Sydney
Thank you so much for watching.
Great video!
Wow…. Great video….😮
Thanks! 😃
Good call to order room service so as to enjoy the views 👍
Yes it was! 😄
Something I've always wanted to do! Hope to one day be as fortunate as you both to do a world cruise. I'm looking forward to seeing all your adventures. When did you start your cruise?
We started December 10, 2023.
Great Video!!
Thanks!
Antartica WOW!!!!This really is a world Cruise! Yes when I took classes whale watching Id tell them dont go down below in the boat ......stay outside. But the bathroom was always busy!Any Titanic worries when you were so near the icebergs?Your vids are so fantastic.......thank you!
It really was amazing. And no, no titanic worries.😀
Hi guys, love your videos. Just a suggestion could Nancy talk a bit louder as sometimes I can't hear what she is saying. Thanks from NSW Australia
Thank you. I will try to speak louder. I’m the quieter one of the two of us.😉
Thinking of what the Captain have to decide, I understand why in those Airport Freak Out videos where passengers went nuts because airlines grounded flights due to weather. It may be fine at the departure airport, the weather may be nice AT THE TIME for the destination, AND even other airlines are risking their outbound flights to the same place, but if their flights is going to be stuck behind a line of flights, they may not be able to make it to the destination before their flight arrive.
Yeah, sometimes, we just don’t know enough and whine about “why couldn’t we?” It’s Easter now and definitely a point to ponder.
Absolutely. We can all pause to give this consideration. And we’re very happy with the captains decision.
Love your videos. Can you give us some idea of how much you are spending on your excursions?
Excursions are costing about 15 to $20,000 for the entire trip.
Whow.
Thanks for this. I love your timelapse segments. I've probably asked already, but what recording device and editing tools are you using? The sound quality is wonderful and you guys come off as very easy-going and likable. Thanks for giving kudos to the Captain. They make some unpopular decisions at times, and some passengers will try to play 'back seat driver,' but that is never a good idea. Keep up the good work and enjoy every minute.
Thanks very much for the kind comments. Most of the recording is done directly off my Samsung s23 Ultra phone. We also use a DGI action 3 camera. And all our editing is done with CyberLink powerdirector on a PC. They have some amazing audio correction algorithms that really help the audio as well.
That rainbow looked like it started and ended on either side of your balcony. So inquiring minds want to know if you got a pot of gold at the end?
Sure did get a pot of gold when I married Nancy! 😄🥰
Many years ago I was causally looking into long cruises via cargo steamer ships (?) and thought if I ever did that I'd buy a piece of fabric from each port and make a quilt along the way. Of course that never materialized (ha ha) for me, but is there anything you two are collecting or doing on your sea days? I'm sure your excellent videos would be enough for anyone....just curious. Nancy in Mobile.
Being a quilter, I love that idea, and never had never thought of buying fabric in eachport. I am getting a Christmas ornament in each country.
P.S. I noticed your "Loving Phase 2" t-shirt, are you selling them? Would love to buy a few for my "Phase 2!".😁👏👏👏👌👍
We are not selling them at this time, but maybe in the future.
Good vlog
I was on small Polar Latitudes ship in November where our son was kayak guide
80 guests only
Did Falklands S Georgia S Orkney and Antarctic Peninsula
22 day trip
Lots landings
Fyi any ship over 500 pax can’t land
IAATO rules
And ships book am an pm landings
Only 100 on land at one time
So smaller ships are best
Would highly recommend PL
Contact them for promo
Counting countries were on
Kara Nate last year
Bummer u couldn’t do MP
Enjoy rest of cruise
Again show more land ship on your vlogs and less FaceTime
I suggest
Agree, the next adventure we do to the Antarctic we want to do an explorership.
Did the ice you put in your whisky taste salty? We are so curious to know.
That is a great question, in the answer is no it did not make it taste salty. Icebergs are pretty much frozen snow so freshwater. Then they just break off and float away.😀
I've been in 30-foot seas. The worst part is that it's incessant. The pounding doesn't stop. 😅
That’s exactly how I felt for a period of time going through the passage.
Can you tell us what you use for anti- sea pills or anything else to help prevent sea sickness? I am going on a cruise to the Baltic and I am worried about the rough Seas.
We took meclizine, which is like Bomine. It’s the generic form of it. It does make you drowsy though.
That seasickness bottle you showed is it a prescription
It looked like Meclizine which is OTC in the US. Sold as Dramamine less drowsy formula or Bonine.
It’s an over-the-counter medication.
