Thank you for posting this video. I had an ear infection in my 20s, and previously I had not ever had one before. The depressing part was that it took so long to recover. For weeks I had this ringing in my ears, and then I could not hear as I could before. It was scary, because I wasn't sure if my hearing would ever return to normal. It took months for it to finally come back. I was one of the lucky ones that got my hearing back. I now see I was in real danger of permanently losing my hearing as you did. I can't express the mental toll it takes when you can't hear someone speak. So, thank you for posting this. It's a good example of when an ear infection can go wrong.

Sorry to hear about your left ear. It is good to hear from you again. I hope that you keep the videos coming and keeping us (your fans) updated. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for sharing your story and I am sorry you went through that alone in a foreign country. I was a competitive swimmer when I was young and had a ruptured ear drum on my left ear three times and it's been a lifetime that sucks. Although, I am not deaf in my left ear, I have severe hearing loss and it can be challenging, but so important to get what ever you need. I know after 20 years that I need a hearing aid, but I still have not gotten the courage to do it. Take care of yourself and stay strong!

It has been a very long time , since you had a video and I wondered what happened. Now we know and I am glad for the update. So sorry that this happened to you. I my self had something similar happen but not as sever. It took over 3 months to recover but still have some small issues with it myself. But glad to know that you have come through it alive. God willing you can recover from the nerve damage over time. glad to know that you were able to continue with your education and hope that all will work out for you. good luck and keep us all up to date and thanks for sharing.

I have been watching your videos from the beginning. I was wondering what happened to you. I am glad to see that everything is better now, except for your left ear. I had a life changing experience in 2010. I lost my left leg below the knee due to an infection. It took a while to get use to it. Now it is just a part of me. Every morning I get up and put on my prosthetic leg. Eventually you will get use to your new way of living. Your hearing loss will become a part of you. Take care and things will slowly get better when you get your hearing aid.

Glad to see you back and post something. Sorry about your hearing - that sounded tough - no pun intended. You are however looking better than ever. You are even cuter as you have aged. It sounds like you had a great time over in Spain and elsewhere, which is fantastic. Not many people get to travel like that. Hopefully we can see and hear more of you - about you and your life. You are so pleasant and genuine. Please let us see and hear more from you. You seem like such a great guy. I set my alarm bell to on, so will know when you have posted something for the rest of us. Best wishes on your recovery and return to home country. Your coming out story was so genuine.

Yes, I am sorry too. Yes, be grateful that you can still hear from one ear. I hope it will come back somehow through medical advancement. Yes, it would bring about changes in your life. I hope for the better in seeing and experiencing life from a new and, perhaps, better perspective from others. You are such a person who is so down to earth that really makes one want to get to know you. Take care

I lost the hearing in my left ear too some years ago but mine was from loud music. The speaker blew my eardrum out. It is hard but I've learned to adjust. There are so many great aids now man and the sooner you get help the better chance of the hearing aid will help you. Best to you young man.

Sorry you are having to deal with this. If it means anything to you, my Hubby had a childhood injury to his Right Ear which resulted in partial hearing loss when he was younger, and now that we are both older, he is really now experiencing profound hearing loss in that ear. I mainly have to remember to be sure his left ear is not covered up and that he can see me when I am talking, as he now relies more on lip reading than before. The hearing aids he tried were OK as long as they had the filters that block background noise. Pricey but worth it. No more TV at maximum volume. Be well. I like the Bald Look!

hi Alexander, it’s a good thing you were aware of the changes your body was going through...some people wait, and then it becomes too late. You must have a strong constitution? You’re looking good and fit!. Be well. Alex from LA

Hi Alex. Good to know that you were able to recovery.... i feel you and its kinda traumatic....i dont know if it happened to me there in 2004 when I was attending an international conference. Hope you can share how you were able to cope with medical expenses especially that it happened in a foreign land. Share as well the things that need to bring / or prepare if they plan to study abroad. If they need to apply for an international health insurance and the likes. Looking forward to hearing from you again soonest. Salamat from Manila, Philippines

my mom, my cousin, and i all are partially deaf due to ear infections. mine is least worst as i have ear infections since i was a child, so i knew to be aware to make sure it did not happen. My mom wears hearing aids in both ears. My cousin is mostly deaf in his left ear, but refuses to wear a hearing aid. My mom is in her 70s now..and my cousin in his 40s. Take care and be strong.

Sorry to hear what happened. This was like the perfect storm. Health is the most important thing. Health care varies so much from country to city to hospital. IMO you should have hauled your ass home to the best medical care available asap. People die all the time from screwups in the hospital and from bad medical care and from getting bacteria in the hospital. You are so lucky. We love you stay strong
