    This is how rod reviews should be done! Real information and detail rather than pure opinion.

    This was the best Rod review I’ve ever seen in any category. Fly, spin, bait cast, ice, etc. Very thorough, and thought out. Thanks!

    Hey, thanks for doing this. This is really helpful. I hope you continue to do this for new Rod releases.

    I recently purchased the 11 ft 2 3 weight and primarily use it for big rivers which I tend to fish regularly! Landed over 20 fish first time using it , including a 20 inch and a 18 inch bow ! It’s light and really gets me out a little further! Totally love this stick ,I would highly recommend it !

    Like all TFF videos, well done and great info!! I have the 11'2" 3wt . I am 61 yo, 5ft 7 - not venturing into deeper water much, so I like the extra reach. I run a full mono system with Amnesia system constructed using Lance Egan formula and find it is very accurate. I love to fish pocket water, riffles - the places most people pass by and this rod has been great.

    Awesome review. Have the 10ft 2wt and 10’9 3 wt and absolutely love them. Worth the price

    I have the 10' 2 and 10'9 3wt since release. Excellent rods, but I have a couple of issues with them.
    The top 4-5 guides should be snake - thin diameter leaders jut love to wrap around the guides.
    I wish the 10' 2wt was a bit softer - I fish small rivers with small fish with single fly (regulations), so I wish it was just a tad softer. And last, double locking nuts for the reel.

    The snow back ground deflection slow motion was great to see.. I always ask how rods load and bend and this will help people buy the correct rod for them. Great video Devin and team.

    Really thorough review! My 10’ 9” 3 wt (that I got from TFF) is my go-to rod; it has brought plenty of fish to the net both big and small with ease. I have another Euro rod, but the Contact II is far superior. 🎣

    I have the contact 1 and have not noticed any issues with glare from the rod effecting fish. Think of it this way, looking up from under the water every little ripple on the surface will create some form of glare. I think the swing and shadow of the rod are a bigger spooking factor.

  • @warrenhorne6432

    I find line guide rings should be placed so fly lines follows the curve of the rod when fighting a fish so it the rod hand wrist and arm from getting sore plus easier to control fish.

    The T&T contact II 10ft 2wt is my favorite because of its incredibly light swing weight and tippet protection, I also have the Diamondback 10ft 1 wt and I like it but it actually has a higher swing weight requiring a reel 1 0z heavier than the T&T contact II 10ft 2wt....I also own the T&T original contact 10ft 3wt and I just want to point out that it is the exception in the original series in that it has the same exact blank as the Contact II 10ft 3wt.

    Thanks Devin! Awesome info and analysis on the rods in their lineup. Have you tried the 6wt on lakes? Curious how that might let you use finer tippet but still have the power of a bigger rod.

    For a single fly what would be your recommendation. Regulations in my province stipulate ONE barbless hook in all flowing waters.

    Great review. Would love to see a review on the Sage ESN. I have a few ESNs but thinking of buying T&Ts as I have lost my love for Sage since the company’s acquisition by Far Bank.

    • @tacticalflyfisher3817
      @tacticalflyfisher3817  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, the ESN is pretty outdated at this point. They've needed a redesign for a few years now as the Euro nymph rod market has continued move forward in concept. The guides on the ESN are poorly placed, they have a lot of swing weight given their price, and their recovery speed is pretty slow as well. Overall, I don't rate them highly compared to many of the other premium Euro rods that are available.

    • @bcarbonneau12
      @bcarbonneau12 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much for your quick response. Excellent information, and looking forward to picking up a T&T more than ever now. Additionally, a quick question with respect to this review and the Ideal Nymph review - do you find the spinning guides on the Diamondback really make for a noticeable difference in casting with respect to shooting micro leaders specifically with lightly weighted flies? Going to stick with the T&T over the Diamondback, but I am curious. Cheers!

    • @tacticalflyfisher3817
      @tacticalflyfisher3817  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bcarbonneau12 no I can't say that the spinning style guides on the Diamondback help the micro leaders shoot any better. In my testing of various rods in that regard, it is usually the guide spacing between the lowest few guides that makes the biggest difference regarding shootability. Both the Diamondback and the T and T have good guide spacing so the leader doesn't bottleneck too much in those lower guides.

    Hey Davin! What do you think about uplocking reel seats on Contact rods? Assuming the reel balances the rod, do they improve casting or make it worse? I've bought a used rod and didn't notice it had an uplocking seat and now it's too late. Are there any real benefits that make people choose uplocking?

    • @tacticalflyfisher3817
      @tacticalflyfisher3817  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm guessing you bought the Contact I. They had uplocking seats as standard.
      I don't see any benefits to an uplocking reel seat personally. Down locking seats have become standard for Euro nymphing rods in the last 5-7 years.

    • @anton_gavrilov
      @anton_gavrilov 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tacticalflyfisher3817 No, it’s actually a Contact II, I was really surprised myself to see an unlocking seat. T&T offers it as an option on their website and I’m wondering what makes people order it.

    Hello, thank you for the top review!! In the view of the 10 foot 2 weight: what means small Waters? It is to light for a dropper System? Could I use a 3 DT floating line with it? Thanks a Lot! André

    • @tacticalflyfisher3817
      @tacticalflyfisher3817  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean smaller sized streams with shallower water overall. You might be able to use a 3 DT line but it may overload it.

    • @damonm7541

      FWIW, I use this rod with a WF2 line and it’s performance as a dry fly rod is excellent as was mentioned in the video. It can handle light dry dropper on a euro leader or cast overhead.
