As u can see not even the leo2 tanks safe. İn our age a tank can only help ground personel. Because without soldier cover a tank can be destroyed easily.
Lol, literally why not? These tanks are getting turned into really good fire support systems. They are not meant for tank battles or pushes. We really don't rely on tanks at all.
if you have thousands of them, its not that easy to buy 2000 new tanks. turkiye will produce around 300 altay mbt's but the m60 will stay in service for longer time. even m48 are in service, mainly as stationar army base protection against pkk. why not. they do not face other tanks, only pkk fighters.
A new turret, a lighter one, certainly couldn't hurt. The performance of the M60 was always a little less sprightly than the M48 because of the weight of new turret. And, the new turret has a much lower profile. If gun depression wasn't sacrificed, then that's a plus as well. This seems like a more comprehensive approach to keeping an M60 fleet viable than Israel's Sabra program. My only concern is that, as shown, the hulls armor hasn't been upgraded. A lot of the weight saved in the turret has to go there.
well i just can't wait to see that this "Rocketsan new armoured tank turret" which was built from the country of Turkey, could also be install and mounted to the T-72 tank chassis, i just could only imagine what would it be, and what its look like. perhaps this could be the solution for its great weakness of this main battle tank.

Even if it will change then name like russian and chinse t55 did, they always will be remembered as M60.
Taiwan also has an abundance of M60 tanks. Maybe this retrofit turret could be purchased and used. My concern is electronics. New generation tanks have lots of onboard electronics that stay running even when parked and the main powerplant isn't running. Is there an auxiliary generator add-on available?
Nice new turret...great idea...but one of the M-60's big weaknesses is its heat signature from its engine and exhaust which makes it easy to spot and easier to hit. Having said that, if I had a bunch of M-60 tanks I think this new turret would be a great addition...well done.
Wow, I guess you've never crewed a tank have you? Every tank gives off heat. When you are moving 40 to 70 tons around, your engine is going to get a bit warm. The M60's engine gives off no more heat that the LEO's or a T-72. And and before you ask, I've seen both through TTS, so I know. Please don't confuse War Thunder with real life, trooper.
@@Waltham1892 I guess you know next to nothing about tanks and how to attack them. The M-60 tank was a relatively good tank but like all tanks it had particular weaknesses. One of the stand out weaknesses was it's heat signature...it was a very "hot" tank compared to others. The dual exhausts mounted right up on top of the rear deck literally glowed, especially at night. Many other tanks place their exhausts lower on the rear or at the sides where the heat signature is less visible to IR sensors. Tankers have to "warm up their vehicles", primarily to test their systems, recharge batteries, etc....well you could pick out M-60's even in hull down positions from a distance using IR scopes. It was one of the main criticisms of the tank.
The American military probably has thousands of these in storage. Wouldn't it be cheaper to upgrade them into a light tank similar to the Turkish model. Instead of wasting taxpayers money to build a whole new tank??????!

With this turret system the gun options are an interesting choice. On the M-60 hull this turret is only available with the 105mm, while on the T-72 hull it's available with the 125mm or 105mm. probably because the 125mm is 2 piece ammo meaning more can be crammed in the same space without total length of the round becoming an issue unlike with 105 where APFSDS shells are up to 1.1 meters long in some cases which is not conducive to storage within a tank.
