- Teresa Earnhardt and Max Siegel hoped that the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season would see their changes like merging their engine shop with RCR and their organization with Ginn Racing pay off for the better. Dale Earnhardt Jr was gone, but you had a talented driver roster of Mark Martin, Martin Truex Jr, Paul Menard, Aric Almirola, and Regan Smith to lead Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. However, this 2008 season would instead see their empire crumble eventually leading to their painful downfall from glory.

DEI was destroyed by one thing: Teresa’s greed. I wasn’t even a fan of Dale Jr but the way she screwed him, Kerry and Kelly over was absolutely criminal. I think DEI could be a powerhouse and Jr could’ve won a championship or 2 if Sr was still here and Teresa didn’t get the chance to run it into the ground.
The other Scenario is if Teresa actually thought smart and gave Jr the 51% stake in DEI. granted Kelly Technically runs JRM Jr recruited truex and even now with berry. He has had some good or even great prospects that could have really kept DEI a constant title contender.

Say what you wanna say about Joe Gibbs Racing, but he has always taken care of the people. This reminded me of everything that was happening with this team hearing interviews with Ty Norris , Steve hmiel it's not surprising the team ended how it did. Also now hearing people speak freely about roush it's a miracle that they didn't meet the same fate

That will be cool if martin truex jr drove for Joe gibbs racing in 2009 in the 20 car and joey logano could have waited in 2010 driving for Michael waltrip racing in the 56 car that will be cool.
As far as I’m concerned, the future of DEI died with Dale in that last turn at the Daytona 500.

I always like MTJ….. what if Dale Jr would have been able to pull Truex to HMS. Team Mark the kid Martin did great in 5 but Truex could have been a long term driver and might still be there potential a multi champion

Hey guys, fresh take I'm stealing from Stapleton42. Let's back off on Teresa. We can all argue about how things could've been better, but she did what she did. Can't change the past. She's trying to hold on to the legacy Dale made. Lets cut her some slack and move on.

@Joe Harris I think he was alittle better at DEI. The team as whole fell after Big E died. Park got a win, waltrip got a win, Jr got some wins. Never was the same after he left this world in 01.

Very unpopular opinion but I’ve always felt for Teresa a bit. I don’t think nascar was ever really her thing. She had to watch her husband die in one and then was forced to take the wheel of an empire that made way too much money for her to quit. An un winnable situation to be dropped into.
